I'm using up some over ripe bananas and have a spice banana loaf in t'oven. I'll post a pic when it's out of the tin. As long as it doesn't look like the dog produced it.

Anyone else got delicious looking pics of food they've made? Not normally something I'm into but I think some of us are probably cooking/baking more than usual.

I cook from scratch a lot but haven't made a cake for a while.

Go on then, show me your grub Wink

Here you go. I found it on Pinterest and didn't have any raspberry jam so use FB up the blueberry.

Dh is making bread before he goes to work. Can't get any bread flour in the shops but we have some left. There must be heaps of bread making going on.

French Apple cake made without butter - it was pretty good, we ate most of it. The rest will be for pudding with custard.

Mmmmm. I have a bunch of manky bananas so any suggestions (unhelpfully we don't really like things that taste all banana-y, hence the apple and loads of cinnamon in my banana loaf.

Ninkanink · 02/04/2020 11:43

Mary Berry has a recipe for carrot and banana cake which might disguise the flavour enough for you. Otherwise I’m sure you could add cocoa powder or maybe peanut butter to a general recipe. I like banana, walnut and date as a combo.

ivykaty44 · 02/04/2020 11:47

Almond and banana tray bake - but would taste banana ry

Something like a chocolate brownie with banana

Ninkanink · 02/04/2020 11:50

Or you could make pancakes. If you just mash one banana and add into the mix it won’t taste too much like banana, I don’t think. I like mine with streaky bacon and maple syrup! 😋

WickedGoodDoge · 02/04/2020 11:50

I used some of my precious yeast and bread flour on cinnamon rolls the other day. Definitely worth it. Grin Unfortunately this is all that’s left so I baked a lemon curd crumble cake this morning plus feta, sun dried tomato and olive muffins to go with my soup at lunch.

Yet to be cooked, but puff pastry brushed with spicy Polish mustard, caramelised shallots, chunks of sausagemeat, caramelised apples, St Agur cheese. I’m going to serve it with romaine and Caesar dressing.

Teddy that looks bloody epic

GlamGiraffe · 02/04/2020 19:07

How is everyone getting flour? Especially bread flour.
I live in north central london. None in sight even on supermarket deliveries and I was pretty much out anyway. My dad makes bread daily and hasnt managed to get flour either.
(I'm stuffing myself on chocolate do can probably survive without cakes for now though!)

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 02/04/2020 19:16

I bake a lot so had SR, plain, white & brown bread, & pasta grade flour in anyway, but I'm running out now and there seems to be none coming in.

I can only assume some would be coming from places where supply chain is interrupted due to corona virus.

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 02/04/2020 19:19

www.bakeryandsnacks.com/Article/2020/04/01/UK-millers-working-around-the-clock-to-address-flour-shortage

It's people buying it who don't normally, or buying much more than they do usually. Suddenly everyone's a baker Hmm.

Note in the article where it says even with stepped up production there's only enough for 15% of households to buy a bag a week - it's just not enough.
