Jam & Cheese Sandwiches

DrSheldonCooperPHD · 28/03/2020 12:10

Is this a thing? 3 yo DS just asked for one for his lunch. DH says it's a thing and they're really nice, DS twin brother and me think he's nuts!!

Is it a thing? Are they nice? Any recommendations for how they are best (hot/cold grated/sliced)? I have extra mature cheddar and strawberry jam.

Cheese and jam or cheese and marmalade are lovely sandwich fillings. Sliced or grated cheddar and is my fave.

RedHelenB · 28/03/2020 12:14

Banana and cheese is lovely.

AliceAbsolum · 28/03/2020 12:15

I eat them every.

My mum used to tell me that my grandfather would have cheese and jam sandwiches then fry them.

123bananas · 28/03/2020 12:16

I like jam and sliced cheese (unmelted) on toast.

Notabarbiegirl · 28/03/2020 12:16

I love a jam and cheese sandwich. Having it as a toastie is even better.

inwood · 28/03/2020 12:17

We used
To eat toasted cheese and jam sandwiches at uni. Have to be out of a toastie maker and the jam comes out like molten lava.

slashlover · 28/03/2020 12:17

I used to have jam and cheese spread, it was creamy but also fruity. I've not had it for years but might have one later.

Wishandwonder · 28/03/2020 12:18

Yep! It’s really a thing. Not my thing but as you can see it is some peoples thing.

MotheringShites · 28/03/2020 12:18

Cheddar and strawberry jam is one of my all time favourite sandwiches.

vampirethriller · 28/03/2020 12:18

Extra mature cheddar and strawberry jam is cracking.

DrSheldonCooperPHD · 28/03/2020 12:19

Oh wow! I'll make him one now! Butter?

ScouseQueen · 28/03/2020 12:19

I remember it being recommended in a Brownie or Blue Peter annual from my childhood. I don't have them often but they are nice! It's not that different to cheese and chutney if you think about it.

Hoggleludo · 28/03/2020 12:20

My dc likes ham and ham sandwich!!!

Hoggleludo · 28/03/2020 12:20

Ham and jam

Puppymania · 28/03/2020 12:20

Yes, butter. Strawberry and cheddar is the best

JengaNonConfirming · 28/03/2020 12:21

Jam and cheese sandwiches are lovely. Yes to butter!

aceyace · 28/03/2020 12:21

I want some Cheesecake now

WatchingFromTheWings · 28/03/2020 12:21

Suppose it's not much different to cheese and chutney/pickle. Wouldnt fancy either myself!

Troels · 28/03/2020 12:21

I think this was one the slate miner meals if I remember right.
Nice strong cheese and some jam. Delicious.

Fedupandpoor · 28/03/2020 12:22

Jam or marmalade on crusty bread topped with feta is definitely a thing in Greece. Bloody delicious too.

devildeepbluesea · 28/03/2020 12:22

Definitely a thing. I'm told it's a Welsh thing, but I think it's more widespread.

Devlesko · 28/03/2020 12:22

Yes, it is a thing. Not my taste but grew up with friends eating it.
My dh has cheese with christmas cake.

LittleBearPad · 28/03/2020 12:22

I wouldn’t have thought of it but I suppose its not so far from cheese and a sweeter chutney. Let us know how it tastes.
