Just spoken to one of his family members. He works for his friend and earns about 45k a year. He fiddles his earnings down to 16k a year and his friend pays him the rest in cash so he has to pay less child maintenance (he has 0 access so this would be fairly high should he declare his full earnings). He is a safeguarding risk to our son and court ordered 0 contact, and I have a lifelong restraining order, so IMHO he deserves no sympathy. He's just been on the phone to this family member who described him as 'going mental' that he's only going to be paid 80% of what he's declared by the government. Apparently it's all my fault as if he didn't have to pay me child maintenance he wouldn't have to have fiddled the books in the first place 😅 cheered me up in my isolation...

OP posts:
cheeserem · 27/03/2020 12:24

Hahahaha that's hilarious. Karma!!!!

Yester · 27/03/2020 12:26

As a self employed person who has always filled in my return honestly this made me laugh!

whataboutbob · 27/03/2020 12:30

Many, many tradesmen are going to regret accepting cash in hand and fiddling their taxes right now.

Bugaboob · 27/03/2020 12:34

Yes going to be plenty of people working Cash in hand that will live to regret their fraud.

Devlesko · 27/03/2020 12:46

Oh, that's brilliant, and that comes from someone with a small business, lost everything and always been honest.
I don't know how they sleep at night.

I can picture your smile from ear to ear. Thanks

Alonelonelyloner · 27/03/2020 12:50

This has made my day!!

Massive congratulations on this visit from the Karma Fairy to your shitty Ex! Huzzah!

ShaunaRae · 27/03/2020 12:50

Haha, that’s brilliant!

lmcneil003 · 27/03/2020 12:53

It's rather nasty to gloat at others' misfortune, but I can understand that it gives you pleasure. I am sure it would please me too.

Take a look at yourself. Whatever the circumstances, to be grateful for others' sufferings is not a healthy state of mind. Forgiveness and understanding are higher emotions, and what we should be aiming for.

PieceOfMaria · 27/03/2020 12:55

YANBU and this is going to happen to an awful lot of people who fiddle their true income to avoid tax or CSA. Give them with one hand, takers away with another.

Bloomburger · 27/03/2020 12:58

All those paying the lower rate tax through paying themselves dividends are going to wish to God they didn't now.

RideaCockHorseOfCourse · 27/03/2020 12:58

Nope, don't subscribe to that Imcneil He seems an utter twat. Well shot of him, OP!

UYScuti · 27/03/2020 13:00

😊👍👍👍👍👍

I didn't suggest she should get back with him. READ my post again.
I agree he's a twat.
I said gloating at others misfortune is a rather crude, brexity type emotion.
I am sure the OP is better than that...

Doggybiccys · 27/03/2020 13:03

DH has a friend of a friend who has been “self employed” for about 20 years but has never declared a penny while his DC runaround in designer gear and his DW drives a Range Rover. Was just saying to DH yesterday that he won’t be able to apply for anything as he doesn’t exist in a way to the tax man. Shame really Grin

tiredanddangerous · 27/03/2020 13:06

Fucking brilliant op Grin

Iwalkinmyclothing · 27/03/2020 13:06

What's with the moralising in here, @Imcneil003? On the other thread you're saying "There is something gratifying about those people who have fiddled their taxes for years (tradespeople who give a slight discount for cash) now not able to prove how much they earned".

DollyDaydream70 · 27/03/2020 13:06

HAHAHA KARMA BITES!!!

PieceOfMaria · 27/03/2020 13:09

I wonder how the ‘we were in the area mending a roof/tarmacing a driveway and we have some materials left over, we can offer you a great price for cash today’ boys will be getting on?

Things might be a bit of a struggle for them for a while so make sure your garages are well locked and your caravans are properly secured.

MrsMGE · 27/03/2020 13:12

Karma is a bitch.

At least some good news at this difficult time, cheers, OP Wine

Greenandpleasanter · 27/03/2020 13:12

This cheered me up OP. Great news. Enjoy 😉

I fall short too, frequently.
I just know that revenge doesn't make me feel content for long, as it's not a healthy emotion.

Bringringbring12 · 27/03/2020 13:14

This is just so very beautiful.

Those that have squirrelled and lied.... well and truly get their come uppance!

MummyGoingItAlone · 27/03/2020 13:15

It’s not just men, women do it to. I’ve just resigned from a job as my female boss and her female PA are fiddling and I couldn’t be party to it.
She was paying her PA, on paper, £20k a year but topping her up with cash to £40k. They will both be suffering now and I’m glad I am out of it. Never met such a scheming, scamming pair in all my life!
Shame on everyone who has put themselves in this situation. I hope it really hurts 🤣

catsareme14 · 27/03/2020 13:19

I had the same thought last night . My ex said on his divorce papers he earns £4 an hour . He got paid mostly in cash as a builder. Paid minimal tax . Karma & im loving it !
