Just spoken to one of his family members. He works for his friend and earns about 45k a year. He fiddles his earnings down to 16k a year and his friend pays him the rest in cash so he has to pay less child maintenance (he has 0 access so this would be fairly high should he declare his full earnings). He is a safeguarding risk to our son and court ordered 0 contact, and I have a lifelong restraining order, so IMHO he deserves no sympathy. He's just been on the phone to this family member who described him as 'going mental' that he's only going to be paid 80% of what he's declared by the government. Apparently it's all my fault as if he didn't have to pay me child maintenance he wouldn't have to have fiddled the books in the first place 😅 cheered me up in my isolation...

I expect there'll be a few people in this position and I for one wouldnt have any sympathy! Yanbu OP

Chickoletta · 28/03/2020 19:55

Nasty piece of work getting what he deserves. Why haven’t you reported him before this, OP?

FlamingoAndJohn · 28/03/2020 19:58

DH had a call today from an acquaintance that he can’t stand who was moaning that because he sends ‘tax efficient’ tax returns he won’t get enough money.
Twat.

oncemorewithfeeling99 · 28/03/2020 19:59

What a great little pick me up! Thanks for sharing. He deserves much worse but glad you can have a little moment to enjoy. Well done for getting free of him and enjoy your lovely son.

Mum1957 · 28/03/2020 20:03

Yorkshiretolondon · 28/03/2020 20:07

Karma

ALongHardWinter · 28/03/2020 20:31

It actually occurred to me a couple of days ago when I heard that the government were going to be paying self-employed people who were unable to work,I wonder how many are going to come unstuck because they've been massively under-declaring their income? Just call it karma OP,YANBU.

Sandii · 28/03/2020 20:33

Ha ! Sure there are loads of men in the same situation. Zero sympathy.

22WR · 28/03/2020 20:38

Just desserts indeed!

We have 2 Liability Orders for over £10k owed to CMS by my daughter's father. CMS say the HMRC system doesn't show him as working or claiming benefits. Im assuming his cash in hand jobs will have dried up with Corona and I don't feel the slightest bit sorry for him.

Tessabelle74 · 28/03/2020 20:38

Thanks for sharing, this is the best thing I've read all year. Yanbu, enjoy karma in action ☺

keffie12 · 28/03/2020 21:31

Karma always does the dirty work! Not unreasonable at all. Obvious what you have been through. I've been through the same. They can never take responsibility

happywifi99 · 28/03/2020 21:33

Oh this made me cackle! Entirely deserved Grin

olbndansmummy · 28/03/2020 21:43

Karma's got everyone's address, and catches up eventually. YANBU OP, glad you and your son are rid of him

Emotimum · 28/03/2020 21:54

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Yanbu to the nth degree. This has made my day 😂 x

Betterversionofme · 28/03/2020 22:06

People who don't get child maintenance because of someone lying about their income keep in mind that they are lying to HMRC and HMRC is taking it seriously. Just report it to HMRC, give them all information you have and sit back. It will cost you nothing. I would think most people who get reported are reported because didn't want pay child maintenance.

xjox1983 · 28/03/2020 22:16

He would of declared more
Yeah right
So he would of happily paid hmrc tax
But not you

My sons dad done exactly the same
So he is skint now asking for a helping hand

HalloumiGus · 28/03/2020 22:31

Ha ha ha ha ha!

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 28/03/2020 22:38

This is wonderful. Just wonderful. 😁 Being me, I’d report him anyway, and let him explain it all to HMRC. I presume his friend will have to account for the ‘missing’ cash due to cash in hand payments. They both deserve it frankly.

Men who don’t pay child support, and those who enable them deserve karma’s full righteous rage Angry

If this is a chance to help karma along... take it!

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 28/03/2020 22:42

And we’ll all do a happy dance for you!! hell, I’ll even film it and put it on YouTube

theoldtrout01876 · 28/03/2020 22:43

I just read today that with the stimulus package our glorious leader has just signed in and the $1200 per person we will be getting that the only debt that they will garner from you is unpaid child support. I laughed even though it no longer effects me. I spent years fighting for child support as exh would stop it whenever he could
Even if you owe the IRS they wont garner it but will for child support. I think thats great

LeahWarburton · 28/03/2020 22:44

Ah yes, Karma, she does have a wicked sense of humour.
