To wonder where the clap is for the rest of the key workers

I fully support the NHS. But where's the clap for the supermarket staff slogging their guts out completely at risk. The delivery drivers? The teachers the utility workers, police and every one who so far is bearing to brunt of this crisis. If you're one of those other keyworkers....I applaud you too, as much as the NHS.

And where will it stop? This is all abit social media, there are many many ways of showing appreciation without this . A personal thank you goes a long way

It's not just the act of clapping, a lot of people are alone right now and taking part in something like that can help people feel less isolated.
I don't care if it's 'a bit social media' (sneery much), social media is helping a lot of people cope in isolation.
So many people bitching for no reason. If you don't want to do it, fine, but don't bitch about it.

I clapped for all keyworkers last night. I work in a food factory along with thousands of others in my town. Difficult to keep the 2m distance when you're packing fish. Company are doing everything possible to keep us safe but naturally we'd feel safer in our own homes but people need to eat.
By the end of the clapping I was clapping for me, my family, my friends, the people down my street, my town. Because I was happy to be healthy, because it put a smile on our faces.

This is such a beautiful way of putting it :)

To those saying that keyworkers aren't risking their lives as much as NHS workers. Yes you are absolutely right. Not all NHS workers are working with people that have coronavirus, plenty don't do patient care anyway. Carers may not be on wards but they are working with people in very close contact who have got coronavirus but aren't bad enough to be in hospital. Many are only allowed a mask if the person is showing symptoms or has been tested positive. Most of the time they have a plastic apron and gloves to protect them. This doesn't help when the client coughs right near you. They are scared to go into work and of giving it to families. They are usually very shorted staffed and many work very long hours. Social care like the NHS has been very underfunded for years. I think the NHS is amazing . Indeed I used to work for the NHS and I know the NHS workers are truly amazing. In some circumstances though carers are more at risk than some NHS staff and doing this for minimum wage and called unskilled by the government. So yes I clapped for NHS staff but I also clapped for everyone at risk right now. I do realise that if you are working in ITU etc you are at very high risk and I think these workers are exceptionally brave and compassionate people

In addition, there is this. So sad.
