Can my children go out for another walk today?

I’m aware it’s episode of exercise today. I have not been out today.

Basically my partner took dc and the dog out this morning before he went to work - he has to go to work. I was waiting in for a delivery so couldn’t go.

Going a little crazy and thinking of going out for a walk myself but that means two walks for dc today!

I live in a rural area. Hardly anyone around. Probably wouldn’t meet anyone and plenty of open space to socially distance anyway.

Aibu to take them out for another walk?

"Well, not really, because the whole point is that those people weren't exercising common sense."

Yes you're right of course-that's what I was trying to say.

And they are probably the reason it's already been stated as once a day.

I'm sure if people start taking the piss here then there will be more restrictions.

To paraphrase the Peter Pan/Tinkerbell/believing in fairies quote:

"Did you know, that every time a person in the Scottish Highlands opens their front door to stretch their legs, someone in the South East falls down dead."

My bingo card is going tick, tick, tick.

On this thread alone:
Cunts.
Stupid and selfish (variation on the usual "selfish arseholes").
Salivating.
Fucking morons.

I'm loving the addition of These threads are like spot the teachers pet/jobsworth aren't they?

My own one (plagiarised from an old TV show) is: "he's a bit thick. I sometimes think of sticking him together and making one long plank."

LillianGish · 26/03/2020 17:41

The rules are clear - if you think you can get away with breaking them and you think you can do so without endangering yourself or anyone else then go ahead. I’m not sure why you need to post on here about it? Flout the rules by all means if you think you can, just don’t advertise the fact.

FunkyKingston · 26/03/2020 17:42

And I know the person delivering the message doesn't invalidate the message, but it does seem slightly ironic to get a lecture on health, safety and responsibility from a prime minister who is serially unable to stick a rubber on the end of his over-active cock.

If one thing has become clear in the last six days is that some people get a proper bonk-on about the prospect of an authoritarian quasi military state

Why cannot people understand if everyone does this everyone is out. Obey the rules.

chomalungma · 26/03/2020 17:46

Just a simple question....

How would anyone know if you have had one walk or two?

And yes - I do think that there is a massive difference between a crowded city like London and the rural countryside.

Personally speaking, if we are going to have road blocks, then large cities with densely packed populations should be locked down - and no one allowed to leave unless they have a very good reason.

Tanks on the M25.

Everyone is allowed to be out.

Fairyliz · 26/03/2020 17:47

I think threads on here demonstrate how London based MN is. Some posters cannot understand a situation where someone might go outdoors and see no one.
Reminds me of when I posted about asking my husband to drive me into my local city and I was told I was lazy for not getting the tube. Err perhaps because some cities don’t have tube stations Grin

chomalungma · 26/03/2020 17:49

It's really hard to see the sense in a rule of 1 exercise per day - when I see the next door neighour builder going off to work, the plasterer around the corner off to work, essential workers like off licence owners off to work, packed tubes in London etc.

But no - that extra half hour out instead of a longer piece of exercise is dangerous.

Who is going to see them though if the field is empty??

Bonkers! Grin

I live in a medium sized city and I saw maybe 2 people out walking today around my estate.

The jogger I saw did a 'holding pattern' before entering the cut through so I could get through

Because when you are the only one that lives in an area, you are the only one out.

As for the tanks/army, they'd spend their first days sorting out construction workers, those on tubes and buses and in warehouses/pizza places.

It would take till a vaccine is here for them to care about glancing towards anywhere rural.

MyDcAreMarvel · 26/03/2020 17:57

How the fuck is it dangerous to go for a walk when you live in the middle of nowhere where you are highly unlikely to bump into anyone else? How is that going to wipe out humanity? @Applejaxx
if you are going to quote my post, quote it all, where I said it’s not more dangerous but that is not that point. It’s the slippery slope of people thinking rules don’t apply to them.

nannybeach · 26/03/2020 17:57

No, because the virus can live in the air for over 3 hours, you cannot bend rules, sorry

chomalungma · 26/03/2020 18:01

It's a good thing the entire nation is going to open their windows at 8pm and clap then.

Why isn't there a time limit on the exercise then?

Go out OP , you clearly live in a rural area in that you can walk being almost certain not to meet anyone. Which means that if there are other people you can also easily maintain more than social distancing.

SpokeTooSoon · 26/03/2020 18:07

Not heard that particular expression before but it sums up my feeling exactly!

Have your walk OP. If you’re not meeting or getting near anyone, how the hell does it make a difference to anyone?

SpokeTooSoon · 26/03/2020 18:09

I am however wondering why couples are going to the supermarket together... just drove to my local M&S but they’re queuing to get in so I’ll come back tomorrow. I’m surprised how many people have come to queue up in pairs.
