Hen Do Refund Nightmare

FuzzyTights · 26/03/2020 10:54

Sorry in advance for posting in AIBU but I need some quick replies.

I'm MoH for my best friend and I've organised a hen do that we were supposed to be going on in April. Obviously, it is now cancelled.

I booked an Air BnB using my credit card and paid in full with the other hens paying their share directly to me. Which I then put on the credit card.

I can get a full refund but they will only refund me onto my credit card. How on earth am I meant to refund everyone else? I can't afford to refund anyone from my current account. What am I going to do?

I'm extremely stressed!

Are you in credit on the credit card if it's refunded? Ring credit card company and explain you don't want to be in credit on the card and they will transfer to current account if same company.

Luunaa · 26/03/2020 12:58

Hi OP. That does sound like a nightmare while money is so tight.

Open a PayPal account
Add your credit card as the payment method
Send payments to the Hens.

:)

If you now are in credit on your credit card, refund them using cash them use the credit in the credit card to do your shopping this month?

AdobeWanKenobi · 26/03/2020 13:06

get some perspective

Ever considered that for some people now every penny counts? And that money spent on a hen party last month is desperately now needed to pay the bills because they are suddenly without income?

or did you just want to be a bitch in the hope everyone would pile on the OP with you.

The person who needs to get the perspective is you.

Devlesko · 26/03/2020 13:10

eh? You got a refund, with the money pay the others, where's the nightmare?

helgahelga · 26/03/2020 13:14

@FuzzyTights

Like the poster above. I don't get it. If you paid on the credit card, and they are refunding the credit card, I am not sure why you're stressed. Just withdraw the money from the card. Not that difficult really. As a pp said, there is no charge for it, and surely there is a huge credit on there now! Confused

try paypal link to you r credit card

ived never heard aking cash out affects your credit score its just a higher interest rate

Pentium85 · 26/03/2020 13:21

PayPal. Easiest way

Youcunnyfunt · 26/03/2020 13:25

Call your credit card provider they should be able to transfer the credit to your current bank account

helgahelga · 26/03/2020 13:29

Withdrawing cash off your credit card as a one-off, or like if you're on holiday (abroad,) won't affect your credit record. It will probably be ON it, but it won't be a black mark on it.

However, it's not advisable to withdraw money off your credit card regularly, as it suggests you can't manage your money very well.

Also, as has been said, the interest for doing it is high.

But as the OP has had a refund for the entire trip, her credit card balance should have a big credit on it!

And a shitty reply from Medievalist who didn't need to reply at all. I don't know what these sorts get from doing that but it's sad.

Rather an extreme response to my flippant comment. Never been called these sorts before! But I apologise wholeheartedly op for causing offence and hope you've sorted out your problem. Thanks
