I just want to say i top am sick of seeing threads where people ask if the most stupid stuff is okay to do now we’re on lock down.
I feel really strongly about this and am really happy we are as I’m about to give birth during this really scary time.
We were due to pick up our pram and car seat from a local independent baby shop this weekend. Now the pram is absolutely not essential so i don’t care about that right now but we can not physically leave the hospital without a car seat. If the shop is unable to deliver the car seat to us my husband can pick it up by appointment, meaning there would be nobody else there.
Obviously, this is essential travel to pick it up isn’t it?
Please be nice to me I’m too pregnant and hormonal right now 😂😂😂

Honestly, I expect that shop will close.

Order one on Amazon with speedy delivery.

blackcat86 · 24/03/2020 05:44

Ask them to deliver it to you if you've already paid or order online if you havent.

Fuckmesideways · 24/03/2020 05:45

As above - get one delivered

excitedforbaby9 · 24/03/2020 05:47

They have assured me they won’t fully close for now, they obviously will not be open but just allow people in by appointment to pick up car seat orders for those due within the coming month of so. I will speak to her today and if i have to I’ll amazon one to us!!

iVampire · 24/03/2020 05:47

Get it delivered if possible

If not possible then yes, getting legally required safety equipment on a one-off event with as much distance built in to protect people, had to be done

excitedforbaby9 · 24/03/2020 05:48

Oh actually, i emailed her last night and she has emailed me back. They are dropping all car seat orders outside doors today :)

Why can't you leave the hospital without a car seat? You can sit in the back holding the baby.

Lynda07 · 24/03/2020 05:53

Oh I see it's going to be dropped off to you so no worries.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 24/03/2020 05:56

Because a baby on a lap is both extremely dangerous and illegal?

BluePheasant · 24/03/2020 05:57

@Lynda07 wtf? No she can't do that!! This isn't the the 1970's.

LangSpartacusCleg · 24/03/2020 06:08

Why can't you leave the hospital without a car seat? You can sit in the back holding the baby.

Where do you live that considers that acceptable?

(I was going to say on what planet but decided that might rude considering that some countries have no problem with children shooting through windscreens like bullets in a car accident)

Russell19 · 24/03/2020 06:10

@Lynda07 what on earth?! That blaze comment is shocking.

Russell19 · 24/03/2020 06:11

@excitedforbaby9 can't they drop off your pram too? I used mine a lot in the garden and you could do your daily exercise/walk with your pram to give you and baby some fresh air.

cornishdreams1 · 24/03/2020 06:17

Great, your car seat is coming. Now stay inside op. You don't need anything that can't be delivered. Clean the house, prepare for the baby but no more talk of you going out to get anything. Please.

SomeoneElseEntirelyNow · 24/03/2020 06:21

@Lynda07 what the actual fuck. Regardless of the fact that most hospitals won't let you take a baby home without a car seat, how could you possibly feel safe doing what you suggested?

sparklefarts · 24/03/2020 06:23

@Lynda07 what the fuck!

TheFuckingDogs · 24/03/2020 06:25

In fairness the roads are going to be so quiet the baby probably would be fine just being held! Two weeks ago that would’ve been unthinkable to say but logically I think it will be safe during the trip back from hospital driving slowly on empty roads. . However you can obviously get the car seat so not a problem

Orchidflower1 · 24/03/2020 06:25

@excitedforbaby9 glad you’ll get sorted with the car seat. Good luck with the new baby🌺

DesLynamsMoustache · 24/03/2020 06:25

@Lynda07 ShockShockShock Have you time travelled from the 1950s?

excitedforbaby9 · 24/03/2020 06:26

Oh i wasn’t planning on going anywhere. My husband would pick it up :) i actually haven’t been out for weeks now apart from my hospital appointments. I definitely don’t want to be picking anything up!!!

OP posts:
excitedforbaby9 · 24/03/2020 06:28

They currently have the car seat in the store but the pram was being delivered to them from the manufacturer which that order will now be put on hold which is completely fine! We have a baby sling we can use for walking them around the garden etc :) not fussed about the pram at all right now!

Or just put the baby in the boot, it's about as safe as being held on the back seat.

Deelish75 · 24/03/2020 06:32

Lynda07.
Please tell me that was some sort of strange joke.
If it wasn't please tell me you haven't had a child in the last 25 years.

excitedforbaby9 · 24/03/2020 06:32

Don’t worry, we won’t be leaving without the car seat :) they wouldn’t allow us to anyway. We also live quite a while from the hospital so it’s something i will absolutely not be doing!
