Help objects being hurled at my door and windows

Around nearly 2 weeks ago between 7 and 9 someone threw refuse and a food bin in my garden (basement flat large front courtyard) i ignored it as I thought it was teenagers and I was putting ds to bed

It happened again last Saturday when they aimed straight for my clothes airer and windo w my partner ran up the road at this point and seen two lowlifes running/fast walking up the road

It happened again last night they threw a dvd/set top box at my glass front door and some metal brackets? Still in the packaging from ikea

It’s really fucking me off and unsettling as my son heard it and screamed (he is 4 and autistic)

I’ve contacted the police on 101 and they said they have put it to the neighbour team (second time I have contacted them) and they would get back to me to which they still haven’t

I have no enemies so have no idea why someone would do this to me

What can I do

I’m scared next time they are going to break the glass.

Just to add last night I turned off the light on the bedroom I went into the kitchen my son was sitting on the sofa I felt someone was watching me then bang the DVD player hit the door it’s like they were waiting

Would there be a right address? Confused

No, I mean that I wonder if they think someone they have a grudge against lives there and not the OP. Could be an explanation.

Parkermumma07 · 23/03/2020 18:51

Maybe the police arnt able to to do very much due to other issues at present!!!! I know it's an awful thing to happen to you but at the moment the police are being told to only attend life or death emergencies.
Please don't knock the police at the moment it's a bloody difficult job to do in these circumstances.

AlexaAmbidextra · 23/03/2020 19:15

Not miserable just practical.

JKScot4. No, miserable. There was no need for you to say anything at all was there? 🙄

DetroitLake · 23/03/2020 19:23

Parkermumma, if cops can't help assure this mother and child of safety to their person and property, then surely society has already failed. Please don't make her feel like she isn't worthy of help.

LolaSkoda · 23/03/2020 19:25

Do you think that they could be throwing stuff to see if you’re in? Potential burglar?

cavabiensepasser · 23/03/2020 19:31

I'd be tempted to spray piss on them out of a water pistol.

JKScot4 · 23/03/2020 20:56

@AlexaAmbidextra
If we go with that, was there any need for religion to be mentioned??
It MN not a prayer meeting.

Parkermumma07 · 23/03/2020 21:25

DETROITLAKE where in there did I say she wasn't worthy!!!! When the world is going f**King mad people need to understand that as much as cops want to help and in normal circumstances would do exactly that at this precise time that may not be what happens.
I'm being realistic not trying to take anything away from how scary and upsetting this behaviour must be for the OP

...darling, what if they have real guns and shoot back, for real!! Or a police car gets sent to you and thinks you are armed and shoots you! Dangerous!
.......
Hmm back to the drawing board for me. I hadn't considered these young scoundrels might have guns, it's usually only gangster type criminals who have illegal firearms.

We don't have armed police though unless there is a very serious incident, like a hostage situation.

Well I can't find my gun anyway so the situation doesn't arise for me at present.

MargotsLine · 23/03/2020 21:50

You can just print CCTV signs, I put them in my windows due to the ring doorbell and ring cameras. So have a look online, download the image and print it off. Stick it in the window. Might deter them whilst you sort out the possibility of getting a real camera.

If you have a local facebook group, join that for your area and ask if anyone else is having issues.

DetroitLake · 23/03/2020 21:55

I'm sorry to have upset you parkersmommy. I misunderstood. The culture of not bothering cops or medical people unless in dire straits is absolutely alien to me!

I'm not sure if no armed police is good or bad, considering. I'm veering towards good if no one has guns at all.

I'm sorry you feel that way jkScot. If prayer doesn't comfort you, you don't have to join in.

donquixotedelamancha · 23/03/2020 21:57

Do you mind if I pray for you?
I don’t think that stops harrassment

Perhaps PP thinks it's God chucking the objects and will suggest She knocks it off.

AlexaAmbidextra · 23/03/2020 22:00

It MN not a prayer meeting.

JKScot4. Well just ignore it then.

Doggybiccys · 23/03/2020 22:03

Sounds awful OP. Maybe the news tonight will have an impact if people out and about are going to attract more attention. Plus the lighter nights coming in. Fingers crossed.

moondance19 · 23/03/2020 22:06

We had something similar, always happened late at night. It was terrifying. We set up cameras, did quite a bit of detective work and identified the ring leader. Went round to his house where he lived with his parents (they weren’t in) The lad was shocked that we turned up at his door, begged us not to tell parents, he said they’d chuck him out if they knew. He ended up promising us it would never happen again and fortunately it didn’t.

GameofPhones · 23/03/2020 22:21

We had egg throwing at a few houses in our street. We identified the lads (two brothers) and arranged a meeting with their father (organist at local church). He was horrified. It stopped.

CSIblonde · 23/03/2020 23:14

Ring doorbells are expensive. Get a 'CC TV' sticker, £1.50 on Amazon. And a fake small globe camera, battery operated has blinking light, £4.99. You can hang them on wall, no wiring. I've one in my window after dodgy guy wandered into our flats entrance hall. (upstairs leave front door on latch all time). And make sure you have blinds or voile on any window they could watch you thru.

RB68 · 24/03/2020 11:41

I would be getting recordings of an alsation or other large dog barking and getting it on motion sensors
