Hi, I went to my mothers house with my baby. My baby was spending the night and my mother was smoking, I then asked if she’s smoking and my child’s here (my baby was upstairs with my little sister. My mother was downstairs with me wanting to smoke) she then said she’s going in the bathroom to smoke and she will change her T-shirt after. I’ve decided to ft her later on and she still had the same T-shirt on. I asked her about it to which she was really rude and said “stop watching me and watching what I’m doing and stop assuming” and then she said “I didn’t smoke but if it’s a problem come and get your child” it’s nearly 6am and I’m going to get my child seeing as she’s being really rude.

I wouldn't leave my child with the smoker. Never mind the rudeness. Go and get you baby op.

Motherbearr · 23/03/2020 05:41

@HettySunshine thank u && yes will be the last time she has her x

What part of stay at home do you not understand? That means no grandparents, baby sitting etc.

Smoking is the least of your worries currently.

Motherbearr · 23/03/2020 05:49

@teddyisahe look, read what’s in the text and answer or don’t answer at all. There’s a reason I had to bring her to my mums house so stop trying to be a smart mouth. Thanks

Never mind the smoking, what about the global pandemic that means no contact unless necessary?!

Motherbearr · 23/03/2020 05:51

Please if your going to mention corona don’t comment at all and try be a smart mouth which is extremely annoying. Won’t be explaining anything to any one. Answer what I have asked or go away

PotteringAlong · 23/03/2020 05:51

Ah, cross post. Not smart, just a valid question.

Motherbearr · 23/03/2020 05:52

@PotteringAlong yes and it was necessary which isn’t any of your business. If I wanted to write a corona thread I would have written one love

Well you can’t worry about your child too much, or you wouldn’t be subjecting them to unnecessary social contact when we’re in the midst of a pandemic. So what’s a little smoke going to do?

TeddyIsaHe · 23/03/2020 05:54

And yes I know that’s harsh, but thousands upon thousands of people are going to die because everyone has an extra special reason to go out etc.

Catting · 23/03/2020 05:56

I'd get your baby. The trust obviously isn't there, so you can't be sure she won't or hasn't already smoked near them.

Mintjulia · 23/03/2020 06:06

She’s your mother. You must know she smokes. In a time of high stress, did you think she would stop just because she is baby sitting?
Anyway, you shouldn’t be visiting. Stay at home means you too Hmm

Smarshian · 23/03/2020 06:08

Bring her home. And stop going out.

Elderflower14 · 23/03/2020 06:08

@Motherbearr Did you mean to be so rude??? 🙄 🙄 🙄 🙄

UnexpectedItemInTheShaggingAre · 23/03/2020 06:08

Go and get your kid. It’s clear where you get your poor manners from Jesus.

Mawbags · 23/03/2020 06:08

Do you think the rudeness is genetic OP?

BluePheasant · 23/03/2020 06:11

You both sound delightful. Go and get your baby and stop using family for childcare now. Stay at home.

VadenuRewetje · 23/03/2020 06:12

yes go get your baby. don't use your mum for childcare again. she should maintain min 2metres distance anyway and you can't do that if looking after a baby.

SarahInAccounts · 23/03/2020 06:14

She shouldn't have been baby sitting anyway.

You aren't special, the rules apply to you as well.

Oldbutstillgotit · 23/03/2020 06:15

What possible reason could be so important that a) you disobeyed medical/ government advice and went out and b) left your baby in a house with a smoker ?

Marnie76 · 23/03/2020 06:20

I would assume that OP was working nights.
Yes I would go and get your baby now.

yellowfishes · 23/03/2020 06:20

Gosh people are cranky this early in the morning!

I'd be annoyed too OP - sounds like she's not being truthful with you. Who in their right mind would smoke around a child anyway, with all the information we have now about the dangers of secondhand smoke?

That would be the last time she looked after my baby.

barbsbarbs · 23/03/2020 06:28

stay at home, completley selfish.

Sparklfairy · 23/03/2020 06:29

I would assume that OP was working nights.

That's very kind of you, but based on her hostile responses to posters I would assume it was something totally inconsequential that she knew she would be flamed for, hence being cagey and ruder than her mother on here.

Lausch95 · 23/03/2020 06:31

You're rude like your mother
