Anyone else love a cool bedroom?

I can't sleep with any heating on. I love a cosy bed, thick cotton jammies and a deep snuggle. But it doesn't work if I am in a warm room. Anyone feel the same?
I grew up in a house with no central heating, I remember scraping ice off the inside of my bedroom window. But we had piles of quilts, woollen blankets and never cold, apart from the tips of our noses.
Even now as I am snuggling down- outside temperature is 3 degrees, I have my window open and no heating on.
Am I the odd one?

No I am exactly the same!!! Window open even in the coldest winter night. I love being warm in the bed and feeling a cold breeze on my face.. I get warm very easily and wake up with a headache if it's too hot!

BlooperReel · 22/03/2020 21:26

I am the same but DH is not, so it's often a battle of wills....

Sally2791 · 22/03/2020 21:28

I’m with you OP. Love a cold bedroom

Thepigeonsarecoming · 22/03/2020 21:28

I always have the bedroom window open regardless of the weather. I’m the same watching tv or reading though, not open windows, but would rather sit under a blanket with the heating turned off!

bluebell94 · 22/03/2020 21:29

I love the bedroom window open, even when it's cold! We've got a really thick snuggly duvet and I love it

Ragwort · 22/03/2020 21:29

Blooper - totally agree with you, my DH has his own room Grin. Nightmare if we go to a hotel (unexpected bonus of the virus, no staying away from my lovely cool bedroom).

ForestYeti · 22/03/2020 21:29

I love a cold bedroom have the window open through winter too, another perk to being single, exh hated the windows open even in summer

speakout · 22/03/2020 21:30

Good to know I am not alone.
Places like Travel Lodge and Holiday Inn give me fear. Windows open only a crack and the whole room is so warm. So claustrophobic.

Warm bathroom (almost tropical!) and a cool bedroom with the window open a little.

EBearhug · 22/03/2020 21:31

Me too - also with the scraping ice off the inside when growing up.

formerbabe · 22/03/2020 21:32

If dh is out late I sleep with the window open...I sleep better when cold

dudsville · 22/03/2020 21:33

Same here, same childhood, such a better sleep!!!

ilovepixie · 22/03/2020 21:35

I'm the same. Love a cold bedroom. I went to boarding school and the dorms were always cold so I've always slept like this.

Thripp · 22/03/2020 21:36

Hmm. I can't bear warm bedrooms. I have my window open all year round, and no heating on. However, the thought of "thick cotton jammies" makes me come out in a sweat.

I have one cotton sheet, and a thin cotton nightie.

When I co-sleep with DP (not happening ATM, due to sodding Covid), he has all the snuggly stuff, and the heating on. I can bear it because it isn't every night, and I want him to be happy.

In my own house, though, it's cool all the way.

Wineinthegarden · 22/03/2020 21:37

Definitely bedroom window open. And a summer duvet all year round. I think I must be a furnace when I sleep.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 22/03/2020 21:37

Apologies for the rather elderly American link, but science says we need cool to sleep: www.huffpost.com/entry/best-temperature-for-sleep_b_3705049?guccounter=1

AnotherMurkyDay · 22/03/2020 21:38

Window open, extra layers and blankets and a hot water bottle in winter

PutColinInTheCorner · 22/03/2020 21:40

Window open all year round, and never wear anything on bed. DH is unfortunately the opposite - pyjamas on, radiator up, window tightly closed.

SingingSands · 22/03/2020 21:41

Same! Two duvets and we're cosy. I might put a tshirt on if I'm feeling cold. I used to have a cat on my feet on my 18 years and he used to come under the duvet on extra cold nights!

Thatsabitwierd · 22/03/2020 21:44

No! I need to be cosy to sleep and absolutely cannot sleep without socks on. I always wake during the night and have to put some on, even when abroad & in summer.

NameofTheWind · 22/03/2020 21:45

I'll share a room with you, OP. Sounds like a dream.
DP makes a right fuss about the window being open, makes up shite about it cracking the plaster [it doesn't] and on top of everything - the dog will then bark if she hears a noise outside (only when window is open)

I'm doomed to a sweaty, humid nights sleep every night.

Doesn't help that my temperature rockets up to 39c every night (yes, really) so I'm basically the house heating at that point.

GenuineKlatchianPottery · 22/03/2020 21:46

Same here, my bedroom window is always open. In Winter I have a fleecy blanket over me then the quilt on top. Most nights I throw the quilt off and just have the blanket from the waist down.
I have to keep bottom half covered because the cat allows me to share his bed and if he sees my bare feet or ankles he attacks them.

cookiemonster5 · 22/03/2020 21:46

I hate a cold room. Unfortunately my husband suffers quite bad asthma and a warm room triggers an attack so I have to deal with a cold room and open window all year round regardless of the weather outside.

I do love it when he works away so I can close the window and be nice and cozy but that wont happen again for a long while now.

userxx · 22/03/2020 21:47

love being warm in the bed and feeling a cold breeze on my face

Me too. Nothing quite like it.

lastqueenofscotland · 22/03/2020 21:48

I used to live in a country were air con throughout was the norm I used to make my room like a fridge every night for years.
