Mother’s Day letdown

I don’t know if I’m being unreasonable in the current climate but my husband didn’t buy anything for what was my first Mother’s Day and left me alone with the baby for most of it while he slept. I mean I know we can’t go out but a bunch of flowers, a pair of pyjamas, a baby grow with a cute saying on it, none of this would have broke the bank. Am I wrong to feel a little deflated?

Please don't think he can read your mind. If you EXPECT something, tell him beforehand.

GabsAlot · 22/03/2020 20:11

i dont think youre bu at all he could have at least wrote out the card and let you have some rest-noting to do with cv

Soubriquet · 22/03/2020 20:22

Are you kidding me @lmcneil003?!!!

You shouldn’t have to be a mind reader to know laying in bed all day for no reason is selfish.

As is buying a card and not bothering to write in it.

What's he normally like at birthdays and Christmas? Is he generally reasonably thoughtful?

To those saying 'people are DYING', don't be so bloody ridiculous. Dying top trumps everything; does that mean we're never allowed to complain about anything? This is the OP's first Mother's Day and she is not being unreasonable to want a written card and a box of Maltesers. She wasn't after a marching band.

Is he useless normally? If he is then yabu. If not, then he is. I would be upset had my first mothers day or any since been like that. It shows a lack or regard for you. Yes it is best to avoid shops but he could have ordered online for you. Explain how you feel to him so this doesn't end up being the same every year. Maybe if he understands how upset you feel it will change his behaviour. If not ltb. Do not be a doormat and go over board for his first Father's Day (assuming he has no other kids?).

Mine got his own mother a card but absolutely zilch for me.. so i am pretty miffed too! Don't even think my kids knew it was mothers day tbf if he had told the eldest to get me a card he would have done 😢

Chista · 22/03/2020 21:48

OP I could have written this. It's my first mummy's day as a mum, hes been in bed all day, I got nothing, didn't even acknowledge the day.

Homemadearmy · 22/03/2020 21:52

I'd be disappointed about it too op.
Make sure you make the same effort father's Day. Maybe he will get the message then

Sounds like a thoughtless knob 🙁
