Can you name all the countries?

Very random I know but I’ve been playing sporcle and really want to learn them all but wondered if most people already know them and where on the world map they’re located?

If you do know them all, how did you come about to learn them all?

Yes I am a geography geek! I learnt all the countries first and then the capitals. I used jetpunk. It's my new (and only..) specialist subject 😉

Yes because I have a bit of a photographic memory, so in my head I can picture a map of Europe and name the counties within it from left to right, north to south.. and their capital.

But not the whole world. Don't know Africa that well for example.

I did a quiz on this the other day. I managed to name 100 countries, but I would only be able to put a small fraction of them on a map

Yes, I learned them from playing Sporcle, ha ha.

Although I’ve travelled a lot so did know lots/most already.

What is sporcle? And should I know about it?

I can, used to love reading atlases when I was a kid. I'm also a total nerd and I'm a visual learner which makes me good at remembering maps.

I just googled Sporcle. And I am beyond excited. This is what I need to see me through 16 weeks indoors!

Slightly off-topic, but as an alternative to sheep, I count countries i have visited. It starts well, then I wonder if I have already counted somewhere like Croatia, so have to start again then I fall asleep , which is what it is all about. The answer is 51, but only got there once.

I did it once on Sporcle after practicing a LOT! Couldn’t place them on a map though.

I practised and practised until
I could do the Sporcle Quiz.
Then promptly forgot loads of them!
I struggled with the spellings of the 'stand', all those little islands off Australia, and South America.
Good brain activity though.

Thanks I fully intended to use it as part of the DCs learning as it was posted for. We haven't got that far DS1 loves all the Dr Who quizzes though.

I could do it at one point, but have forgotten quite a few of them. Know pretty much all the European capitals, but not the rest of the world.

Can place quite a few, but not all of them yet - that's my latest obsession to try and place them all!
Search for the quiz Erase The World on there - that's a good one where you have to try and erase all the countries off the map one by one.
Challenging but addictive! Gets you thinking where they all are

Yes, thanks to sporcle too. On sporcle it says there are 197 countries and a news article I was reading said there are 195 countries. Anyone know how many they actually are?
