Friend cancelled her toddler’s birthday due to Coronovirus, do we still give the presents?

bridgetreilly · 20/03/2020 16:27

Yes, I would. Take it round and leave it outside, then text to let them know.

DustyMaiden · 20/03/2020 16:28

Yes, that would be nice for the toddler.

OwlBasket · 20/03/2020 16:28

I would still give it, yes

VenusOfWillendorf · 20/03/2020 16:29

Oh yes, if it's possible to give it without interacting with them. It would probably be even more appreciated now than it would have been a few weeks ago.

EmeraldShamrock · 20/03/2020 16:29

Yes.

maddening · 20/03/2020 16:29

Yes, she has cancelled to be socially responsible, no reason her child can't have the pressy

evilharpy · 20/03/2020 16:31

My daughter's little friend should have been having her 5th birthday party on Sunday but it's been cancelled. I sent the present into school yesterday for her to have. Poor girl will be upset her party is cancelled, the least I can do is give her her present and hope she still has a nice birthday.

Marnie76 · 20/03/2020 16:31

Yes, or it’s a double punishment for the birthday child. You’ve spent the money anyway

Butterflyonmyshoulder · 20/03/2020 16:32

Surprised you are even asking...

M0nstermunch · 20/03/2020 16:33

Definitely still give it

TokyoSushi · 20/03/2020 16:34

Absolutely! Why wouldn't you?! You could always leave it on their doorstep

Scarlettpixie · 20/03/2020 17:42

Yes. Leave it on the doorstep if you want.

tp777 · 20/03/2020 18:33

Clarification-they don’t have the virus, it was done because of the social distancing guideline.

OP posts:
Tulipstulips · 20/03/2020 18:34

I would. Leave it on the doorstep.

Standrewsschool · 20/03/2020 18:36

Keep it until things are better, and then give it to her.

CheshireDing · 20/03/2020 18:42

Or course you should still give the gift !

It doesn’t matter that they don’t have the virus (as far as you/they know) the poor child’s party has been cancelled the least she can have is her friends presents.

My 8 year old was invited to one next weekend, it’s cancelled so she took the present into school yesterday to hand over.

plunkplunkfizz · 20/03/2020 18:43

As long as it puts no one at risk, you should give the gift.

Aragog · 20/03/2020 18:44

Oh yes, please send the gift still. Either post or contact free drop off would work.
Why wouldn't you?

Barbies97 · 20/03/2020 18:52

Of course, poor little thing!

NotEverythingIsBlackandwhite · 20/03/2020 18:56

Of course you still give the gift. Why wouldn't you?

RainydaysandMondaysalways · 20/03/2020 19:03

Yes we're giving a gift in the same situation

dontaskformedicaladviceonmn · 20/03/2020 19:18

Yes. DS friend has his birthday cancelled because the birthday boy had swine flu. We knocked and left it on the door step and waved madly at each other from a safe distance.

Etinox · 20/03/2020 19:22

Why wouldn’t you? Confused

theschoolonthehill · 20/03/2020 19:46

I would. My child’s party was cancelled. He understood (sort of) but was so disappointed. He spent the whole morning of his birthday in tears. He didn’t get even one message from even one friend although they had all accepted via text message an invitation to his birthday party.

Yourteaisgettingcold · 20/03/2020 19:47

My child's party has been cancelled and I've received presents in the post.
