Was this absolutely necessary? Aren't we suffering enough??

OP posts:

If just watched it. I've never seen such self indulgent, smug faced, shit in my whole life.

Nuffaluff · 19/03/2020 20:35

They’re not even singing in the same key. My ears!

KenDodd · 19/03/2020 20:46

I don't get the link? I just get the Independent newspaper? Is it on YouTube?

OlaEliza · 19/03/2020 21:09

I found it on Facebook

Holothane · 19/03/2020 21:24

Just has beens getting so called attention to supposedly cheer us up, crap🤮🤮🤮

SewItGoes · 19/03/2020 21:46

I've spared my ears their attempts at singing. Just watching their faces with the sound muted was enough to induce extravagant eye-rolling.

Horrible song. Such a poor choice, if they felt that must "entertain" us.

bakedbeanzontoast · 19/03/2020 22:04

I don't think I've ever come across before that's made me think 'I've found my people.'

Prepare yourselves folks for this is just the start. No doubt there will be a coronavirus single next.

boon · 19/03/2020 22:39

Its pathetic!!!@

NurseButtercup · 19/03/2020 22:56

Gareth Malone from the choir is planning to do something similar with non celebrity's.

WagtailRobin · 20/03/2020 00:44

The wealthy singing about "having no possessions", it's all very distasteful.

TaterWaffle · 20/03/2020 00:50

Ade Edmondson did it best as Vim Feugo:

rutting stag

This has really cheered me up Grin

I saw the video earlier and the choking response it gave me made my coronavirus symptoms worse.

I really, really cannot stand that song and never have.

There's a couple of celebrities in it that I thought were great ... until this (and by couple of celebrities I don't mean the o'couple in it btw)

How could they be so up their own jacksies that they think they were giving us a gift?

TeaAndDarkToast · 20/03/2020 02:22

nooooooooooooooooooooooo

Limpshade · 20/03/2020 04:50

I get what they were going for there but it's a pretty embarrassing watch. I have been enjoying the #Togetherathome concerts on Instagram/YouTube though. Actual musical talent and less watery-eyed "togetherness" faces Grin

LellyMcKelly · 20/03/2020 04:50

Even the original of this song was terrible.

BelfastNonBlonde · 20/03/2020 05:00

SO cringe

Sobeyondthehills · 20/03/2020 05:00

They are a bunch of comedians who have shows cancelled, they no longer have work, and probably as their wages have grown their expenses have also, so are going to be in the boat with the rest of us.

They need to try and keep their profile up to try and get people to see their shows when we come out of this, its a shite song but I get why this and many other type of these things are going to come out

BelfastNonBlonde · 20/03/2020 05:01

UK celebrities have done a response version, Imagine all the Bastards..

YoTheGinPussyOfStMawesOnThigh · 20/03/2020 05:49

As Imagine is a popular song choice for funerals hardly cheering. Maybe Boris and co could do a version for one of his 5pm press conferences.

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 20/03/2020 06:02

I hate that song and do not understand its appeal. It sounds like something straight out of the pages of Come and Praise in a primary school assembly - so mawkish.

Findawaytobehappy · 20/03/2020 06:58

Well I think you’re all miserable bastards.

But I am definitely nicking that ‘rutting stag’ comment Grin

newyearnoeu · 20/03/2020 08:56

@Sobeyondthehills huh? Most of them are actors/models/singers, and even the few who are "comedians" aren't the type who do 'shows.' Also Will Ferrell is worth about 130 million dollars with some of the others not far behind....somehow I think they'll struggle on. Hmm Definitely not 'in the same boat' as someone who is wondering how they'll feed their kids

And as for the "as their wages have grown their expenses have also" - really??? Bare essentials (water, food) cost the same for celebrities as they do us mere mortals. If they can no longer afford their sports car or mansion they can sell it and downgrade - disappointing but it's not going to kill anyone! They could lose 98% of their wealth and still be in a better position than the majority of the population.

TossACoinToYourWitcher · 20/03/2020 08:57

Imagine if all those celebrities donated some of their wealth to fund respirators instead.

OlaEliza · 20/03/2020 09:47

That woman from the good place, I've forgotten her name, donated $150k.
