Where have all the CF gone?

DorisDances · 19/03/2020 13:44

Normally there are threads about demanding MILs etc but these seem to have gone quiet. Is it these CFs who have sent relatives to clear supermarket shelves or are they channelling wartime spirit and behaving...for now...?

MinnieMountain, sarcasm just doesn't convey well over the written word, does it?

Bakedbeanhead · 19/03/2020 19:16

crispysausagerolls

My MIL is a bellend if anyone wants to hear about her 😁

crispysausagerolls You really made me laugh out loud😆 almost spat my wine 🍷 out

Fespital · 19/03/2020 19:41

My MIL is blithely pissing money up the wall and wandering around the clothes shops because she's fed up with self isolating after 3 days Hmm And is asking me to go out and do her a favour (not usually a problem except the going out bit at the moment) BECAUSE SHE CAN'T BE BOTHERED TO SEARCH FOR THE THING IN HER HOUSE! Her house she's supposed to be locked down into because she has chronic health conditions!! I know it's in her house but she's such a lazy arse she's asking me to get it for her!!

MinnieMountain · 19/03/2020 20:29

Nope! Grin

Everyexitisanentrance · 19/03/2020 21:42

CFs are stockpiling, still going to the gym, and insisting that they are key workers so their children must be in school.

They are also the sort that stole the hand sanitiser from our classrooms on the last open morning - bloody selfish women

EL8888 · 19/03/2020 21:48

@Sparklingbrook 😂

@Coffeeandnutrients probably...

Ihaveanokamountoftoiletpaper · 19/03/2020 22:00

Aye what I wouldn't give for a parking thread. Something with a diagram.

Anyone posting about a minor annoyance, especially if it's down to Covid, gets jumped on because they should be grateful it's only a minor thing.*

It's bloody annoying isn't it! Like everybody's thoughts and feelings on absolutely everything else have to disappear so we can all focus on being miserable and anxious on a larger scale.

Essexgirlupnorth · 19/03/2020 22:04

Maternity ward reduction of visitors basically partner and no one else will reduce the how do I stop my overbearing MIL turning up at birth or just after birth

ilovecakeandwine · 19/03/2020 22:07

I think the CFs have all become HFs (hysterical fuckers) instead.
Oh i like that Grin
Yeah missing the cfs they must be still out there buying all the toilet roll etc .

damnitnotlistening · 19/03/2020 22:19

My MIL IS ISOLATING. At last... respite!!!
Nothing to mean at here Confused

Wauden · 19/03/2020 22:22

The CFs are busy fighting in the aisles and abusing the check out staff. Oh and stocking up on plastic bottles of water, because we need more mountains of plastic.

MovingBriskyOn · 19/03/2020 22:49

@PrincessBuggerPants - it is an invitation not a summons

Mumdiva99 · 19/03/2020 22:54

@PrincessBuggerPants you do know it's an invitation not a summons don't you. 😜

I did read a few good threads recently - the chilli on the minge, the outdated food in larder and something else yesterday that made me giggle....just stay away from the CV topics.

Hoppinggreen · 20/03/2020 10:50

My CF sil is still having a go
Whenever she’s faced with looking after her own (school aged) DC she always takes to her bed unwell. Every time we’ve been on holiday with them it’s pretty much guaranteed that for the first few days (and quite often thereafter when shes had enough) she will have to go for extended “lie downs” while other people entertain her kids. She does have a husband but apparently he can’t be expected to deal with them both on his own.
Usually MIL steps in, while nagging me and DH to help too and getting very arsey with us when we refuse but it’s backfired on her this time because although MIL does generally treat SIL like a precious snowflake she’s a HUGE hypochondriac who is convinced that anyone who catches so much as a sniffle may die so while she’s desperately worried about SIL she is going nowhere near. SIL may actually have to get out of bed and deal with her children
Disclaimer - if she was genuinely ill I would obviously be concerned/sympathetic but I’ve had years of this and according to MIL (who is usually very dramatic) SIL just “feels a bit poorly” so has gone to bed just in case.

I really depend on Mumsnet for some giggles and mindless nonsesne to distract me when I'm down normally.

Lately there is almost nothing on here apart from Coronavirus. I wish you could filter the ACtive/Trending pages to exclude the CV threads tbh.

We all know how serious it is, we can see it EVERYWHERE, I just want a little respite from that. I'm generally a cheerful person and I persist in trying to make the best of bad situations and remain cheerful. but it's quite hard to do that without the CFs, MILs, Bridezillas, Janets and Parking threads! Grin

soupforbrains · 20/03/2020 11:11

If it helps this morning I was on a video conference with colleagues and my cat jumped up on the desk into my face, putting her butthole about an inch from the webcam, so that was amusing...

Gloria5 · 20/03/2020 11:19

I needed this thread!

And I need “HF” to catch on as a standard mumsnet acronym.

PrincessBuggerPants decline!! Weekday wedding? No thank you!

ChillinInMyBacta · 20/03/2020 11:28

People Pleasers seem to be finally saying NO.

pongopig · 20/03/2020 11:45

@soupforbrains you can hide the CV topic - you have to do it on the desktop site - there is a link at the bottom of the mobile page

Seeitsortit · 20/03/2020 11:56

Not so much CF but FFSF’s - announcement on Facebook CV page about Iceland opening first couple of hours for vulnerable people ie when the store will be at its cleanest and you know there will be food in there and reply’s included a few ‘but that time is like the middle of the night for me!’

soupforbrains · 20/03/2020 12:23

@pongopig thankyou!

soupforbrains · 20/03/2020 12:25

@Seeitsortit yes I posted on here to let people know about the sainsbury's one and one of the first replies was along the lines of 'well that's all very well but my mum's bus pass won't cover that time of day' Which I do appreciate is an issue for all the elderly people dependent on public transport but honestly. a) I don't work there and didn't make the decisions and b) at least it will hopefully help some people. We can't make it perfect!

Babysharkdoodoodood · 20/03/2020 12:36

@soupforbrains Most of the bus companies have relaxed the twirly rule, do the elderly can get out to get their shopping in the vulnerable hour.

jay55 · 20/03/2020 12:44

That's great news about the bus companies. I suppose they're a lot emptier at rush hour than usual.

@Hoppinggreen that is a brilliant CF karma story.
