Where have all the CF gone?

DorisDances · 19/03/2020 13:44

Normally there are threads about demanding MILs etc but these seem to have gone quiet. Is it these CFs who have sent relatives to clear supermarket shelves or are they channelling wartime spirit and behaving...for now...?

Coffeeandnutrients my MIL might have to come to stay with us. She healthy but she lives alone so we're worried about her getting lonely. plus she's a massive help with DS.

Hoppinggreen · 19/03/2020 14:57

Yes, nothing other than a slow agonising death elicits much sympathy on here at the moment

underneaththeash · 19/03/2020 14:59

I think it's just due to the fact most people aren't seeing their families as much!

I've spent the last hour sourcing (and paying) for a part for my mother-in-laws boiler and liasing with the useless boiler repair people she's chosen to use. Did she say thank you??????????

SchadenfreudePersonified · 19/03/2020 15:12

I've got one though. I popped into a local cafe today (they have amazing food) and they had just had a delivery, they have taken away tables (obviously not getting the customers) and put out their raw ingredients for people to buy. Some cf has reported them. Poor buggers. They haven't been open long, they are lovely people, just trying to make a but of money with the upcoming uncertainty, and its helping people out because the other shops are bare.

A local man who had a smallholding died very suddenly a couple of weeks ago. His wife sold off all of his remaining produces etc at bargain prices - apparently the place was mobbed.

The only things not sold off were his chickens (40), which I believe were going to a hen sanctuary (one of those places which rehomes battery birds) because she couldn't care for them and didn't want them slaughtered. Someone tried to steal them during the night. Five men arrested - a couple of them local chefs - caught flinging the poor birds over a wall to be caught on the other side and put in a van. Not sure what's happening to them now.

Bastards.

My MIL is in self isolation Grin Grin Grin

A silva lining in every cloud, eh, Coffee?

SchadenfreudePersonified · 19/03/2020 15:12

*silver, not silva

Ameliabrowner · 19/03/2020 15:20

Maybe they finally have the peace they deserve because of the social distancing so they have no need to moan on here anymore :] ha!

P1nkHeartLovesCake · 19/03/2020 15:21

All the
CF are out buying up all the food!

crispysausagerolls · 19/03/2020 15:37

My MIL is a bellend if anyone wants to hear about her 😁

timeforawine · 19/03/2020 15:38

@Aroundtheworldin80moves I get CF goldfinches, they eat one, drop one, eat one, drop one, sunflower hearts too! Messy buggers.

WitchQueenofDarkness · 19/03/2020 15:43

Oh they are around - one company local to me is offering free commercial sized loo rolls ( those great big ones that go in the dispensers) and free disinfectant to elderly and vulnerable people on Saturday morning.

Their reward? - can you deliver to X ( a town at least 40 minutes drive away)

LargeGinOnTap · 19/03/2020 15:50

The CFs are hoarding
The MILs are in self isolation
The weddings are being postponed for the time being

Acrasia · 19/03/2020 15:59

@JudyCoolibar not exactly, but they didn’t even look for her stuff and he later told her that shop was out of everything she’d asked for!

KatherineJaneway · 19/03/2020 16:01

They're buying all the toilet rolls and selling them on at a huge profit

PrincessBuggerPants · 19/03/2020 16:02

I've got a good wedding one actually.

Just been invited to a child-free wedding, four hours away, ON A WEEKDAY, in August. How the fuck am I going to plan for that?!

I don't know if it will definitely go ahead, I don't know what availability of family for childcare will be like because they have no idea what their work situation will be (plus ON A WEEKDAY), and I am loath to book a hotel that might go under…

Please feel free to tell me it is an invitation not a summons.

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 19/03/2020 16:14

I’ve more of a silly ducker one. I live my in-laws, buuuttt one bil is a bit of a twit and thinks his needs are more important than everyone else’s. Never left home and spilt rotten by his mum. An example is when sitting in the family home after MIL’s traditional Irish funeral and he informs me that he’ll come to mine for dinner every Saturday to give his sisters a break. My husband told him to fuck off, that his wife (me) wasn’t here to serve him and he could make his own dinner. Grin

Anyway, the whole family knows I’m in lock down due to my youngest’s vulnerability, but rocks up and my door for a coffee and is most put out that I refuse to let him in. He explained it would only be a quick coffee, because he had to get back to work, delivering car parts all around the country. Hmm He was still in his uniform and I kept having to tell him to stand back as personal space is an issue with him. Apparently I’m unreasonable and I ruined his break. ConfusedShockHmm

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 19/03/2020 16:14

*i love my in-laws

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 19/03/2020 16:15

If I get the virus I’ll fucking bury him before the illness does.

Crafting1Queen · 19/03/2020 16:19

Oh, who'd ever have thought folks comments at your sad demise would be,

She was taken too young, but by fuck was her arse spotlessly clean! Aye, Aye, least there's that!

Also, we will soon know how much we are thought of, depending on the quantity, quality, 1 ply, 2ply, quilted, patterned, half used, clearly been dropped down the bog, but retrieved and left to "dry out" when we're at the reading of the will (of course minimum 12 feet away from each other) and instead of I knew that Cow would get our Great, Great, Great Grannie's heirloom diamond brooch, or the pearls, but WHAT, THAT WITCH GOT LEFT THE ANDREX???? The, the QUILTED ANDREX????? I always knew that Jeannie was a sly wan, promised me, tae ma face, it was being left to me.

Sniff and flounce. Well no, best no sniff, there's nae a hanky or tissues or sliver of bog roll tae be had in the land.

The end.

ThatLibraryMiss · 19/03/2020 16:23

Anyone posting about a minor annoyance, especially if it's down to Covid, gets jumped on because they should be grateful it's only a minor thing.

Wow. Just wow. At this time, this is what you choose to post about?

I must have read that half a dozen times today.

justasking111 · 19/03/2020 16:31

Glued to E Bay watching their goods go for crazy prices.

MILs well you can use the isolation excuse Grin

CinderellasSecrets · 19/03/2020 16:42

Mines still a knob but now she's a knob from afar so I'm good 😁

StinkyWizzleteets · 19/03/2020 16:44

They’re fighting each other for loo roll

Aridane · 19/03/2020 16:47

I think the CFs have all become HFs (hysterical fuckers) instead

😂

MinnieMountain · 19/03/2020 17:29

Thus proving my point ThatLibraryMiss.

I KNOW it's really shit and scary. Many people will die and many more will suffer. But some of us also need to be able to post on here on more normal topics to take our minds off it.

WrongKindOfFace · 19/03/2020 17:33

They‘ll be back, give them a few days to tire of isolation.

This time next week there will be posts galore from people outraged that CF is expecting them to homeschool CF’s children whilst she’s off getting her nails done, or taking the bottle of milk from the baby because CF doesn’t think he looks hungry.
