That mat is minging

MIL bought DH and I a rug for our dining room. It’s red. My son sent me a picture of an ocean pink earlier on and I could smell the rug from in the living room. Basically we have a male dog that constantly pisses on his bed but since we got the rug he’s started pissing and shitting on that instead, I bought a vax all in one cleaner but it’s constant and the rug is full of stains from the dog. Last night DH said “that mat is minging” and yes it is but he won’t throw it out because MIL bought us it!!! The dog is a frenchie and we have had behaviourist in and everything and although he knows to go outside and normally does, if he’s left alone at all (even if we’re in another room) he will go and piss or shit on the rug.

AIBU to insist we throw it out??

I'm also here for the Ocean Pink.

The mat needs to go.

EmeraldShamrock · 18/03/2020 09:44

I hope DS was not leaning on the rug painting transferring the smell to page.

I feel your pain op. Frenchies almost always have terrible separation anxiety and they are notoriously difficult to housetrain. They also tend to chew far into adulthood. They are not like other dogs and nowhere near as trainable as other dogs. The smell will encourage him but he also has a habit which relieves his anxiety. Leave him with a hot water bottle, the radio on and a chew toy covered in honey or peanut butter if he can have both of these. Another dog may not help him as separation anxiety is such a strong trait in this breed.

Definitely throw it out!

My son sent me a picture of an ocean pink earlier on and I could smell the rug from in the living room

What is the link between these two things though?

Brefugee · 18/03/2020 10:45

Get rid of the rug. And if you can't handle the dog rehome it.

JKScot4 · 18/03/2020 10:47

Rug in bin, dog crate trained and back to basics toilet training.

adaline · 18/03/2020 10:49

Why have you not toilet trained your dog?

forrestgreen · 18/03/2020 10:52

We got rid of rugs after we got dogs

DartmoorChef · 18/03/2020 10:55

Just waiting to find out what an ocean pink is 😂

Herpesfreesince03 · 18/03/2020 11:02

.

WikkiTikkiWoo · 18/03/2020 11:03

Are we ever going to get an update on this ocean pink?! Or has the OP just dropped it in there and run.

SallyWD · 18/03/2020 11:06

I also need to understand the ocean pink reference! It seems like your main issue is having a dog who relieves himself on the rug. Is this normal?! I've never had dogs but couldn't live like that...

bemoreeverything · 18/03/2020 11:08

I thought you were talking about 2 rugs tbh

Now, if it's covered in shit and your DH insists on keeping it, your only solution of to throw both him and the rug out. Oh, and the dog. Send them all packing. How disgusting.

TheOrigBrave · 18/03/2020 11:08

Jeez, have none of you lot heard of Smell-O-Vision Grin

EmeraldShamrock · 18/03/2020 18:19

@IsolationPeach Hi OP can you pop back to tell us about the ocean pink, I'm very bored. Have you slung the mat yet?
