Netflix, youtube, baking, sewing, knitting, gaming, learn a new hobby, learn a language, mumsnet of course!
Quora has some funny threads, easily can lose yourself in Quora for hours.

Thelnebriati · 15/03/2020 15:43

I'm not sure everyone on this thread understands self isolating, you won't be able to go outside, or borrow books or other paper or card items from the library.

SilverySurfer · 15/03/2020 15:43

I'm in my 70s and like nothing better than going on the online game War of Warcraft - if I'm feeling pissed off about anything, there's nothing better than hacking and slashing my way through the monsters in a dungeon. Grin

Try it.

Cooking and baking, reading and catchup tv & movies keeps me going.

DH and I were saying they're bound to put plenty of sport re-runs on tv like the whole of euro 96 and some retro olympics highlights to keep us all going over the summer.

DIY and gardening stores are going to be booming.

PenguinsOnParade · 15/03/2020 15:50

DH and I have also started making Warhammer models. I've put my building and painting of them on hold for now so I'll have plenty to catch up with if we end up stuck inside. We might even learn how to play it as we haven't got that far yet. Blush

Decluttering and redecorating here.

The gardens going to be stunning with no football or cricket for DH

Batfinklestein · 15/03/2020 16:20

I think there will be a lot of cleaning, washing and sex here!
My list otherwise is:

  • Decluttering and tidying.
  • Doing all of those little jobs like sewing missing buttons & supergluing broken things etc.
  • Life admin. I got married last year & haven’t got round to changing my name with all the utilities etc.
  • Work my way through the piles of books I have to read.
  • Working out to Davina & Jillian Michaels DVDS.
  • Making a list of things to binge on Netflix
  • Dropping friends/family a line and video calling.
Dylaninthemovies1 · 15/03/2020 16:24

I’ll be working at home probably, and running after our 4 year old who wants someone to play with him at all times.

If i had time to do as I chose then I would read, watch films, play board games, cook and bake, study, and colour in

MacavityTheDentistsCat · 15/03/2020 16:27

Learn to solve Rubik's cube.

Angel2702 · 15/03/2020 16:27

I’ve stocked up on crochet supplies Alidi has their yarn reduced at the moment from their last event and I’ve ordered some kits reduced from book people.

I have an active ancestry subscription and a kindle ready loaded.

If I get really desperate I can go through the loft and get rid of the clutter up there and sort out the cupboards I’ve been putting off.

My biggest concern is trying to get the kids to do their school work from home.

FlamingoAndJohn · 15/03/2020 16:28

I can borrow library books directly from my e-reader.

Does anyone have any links to a good exercise video on YouTube? I normally run 3 miles every morning and I’m going to miss that.

StCharlotte · 15/03/2020 16:58

I'm planning on the premise that we'll still be allowed to go to work (neither of us can work from home) so it's a mile to walk downhill to work and a mile uphill home. So that's the fresh air and exercise taken care of.

I have plenty of books to read. I have loads of jigsaws but also kittens so that might not happen Smile

Fortunately I have no children to entertain. Just a DH Grin

LargeGinOnTap · 15/03/2020 17:09

Adult mindful colouring
A pile of ironing
A proper declutter
A tapestry I started during the summer
There's a few box sets on Netflix etc I want to watch

Unlike the other people who I live who go stir crazy just at the thought. I have plenty to occupy my time at home. If I need to self isolate being actually ill wilL be a different matter

evilharpy · 15/03/2020 17:12

I've joined a streaming pilates subscription thingy so I can keep up the pilates. Already a member of Les Mills On Demand and own a spin bike so will be able to keep up my fitness.

Probably most of the time we'll be trying desperately to entertain a 5 year old while getting some work done, although I suspect we'd have to take it in shifts as she's crap at entertaining herself.

Glowcat · 15/03/2020 17:22

Thanks for all the recommendations.

And for fitness recommendation, the Fitness Blender channel on YouTube. A lot of choices, with or without equipment, and of various levels.

Nousernameforme · 15/03/2020 17:29

I have 4 children and a dp to keep sane. I have already run them through my plans for isolation.
We need to keep a routine for the asd dc so it will be up at 7 weekdays breakfasted and dressed by 8 ready to start school work till 1 lunch then chores inside and out or boardgames/crafts if we run out things to do. Then 5 onwards is their own time. At which point they will hide away on devices and I will start work.

I dont forsee me getting any free time.

IpanemaGallina · 15/03/2020 17:30

I learn Spanish at home and use YouTube for fitness etc, so I’ll continue those. Grin

But I have a large tapestry I started in 1995 and I’m going to finish that and re-read my Hilary Mantel books.

mouldyoldonkey · 15/03/2020 17:32

Does no one read books anymore?!

IpanemaGallina · 15/03/2020 17:32

Any gardening of course. Got lots of veg seed to sow next week.

Eckhart · 15/03/2020 17:32

I have loads of jigsaws but also kittens so that might not happen

Made me smile :)

Just thought I'd mention Coursera. Free online courses. Also YouTube for ANYTHING you've always wished you knew more about.

SudokuQueen · 15/03/2020 17:32

@Glowcat

I wouldn't bother buying sims 4. Seen nothing buy crap reviews and it is ALWAYS on sale. They can't sell it which should tell you something. Stick with sims 3 and just buy a couple of expansion packs that you don't have.
