Would you report this to safeguarding ?

I work in a school and have discovered that a year 11 girl is having a relationship with a year 9 boy. I know it happens the other way round. Just a bit concerning as the girl is 16 and the boy is 13 almost 14, even though he looks more like 18. Do you think I should report this to safeguarding just in case ? Thanks

This isn’t as serious but it is still a safeguarding issue and we are told not to look away or ignore these issues however small they might seem or be

I'm pretty sure the law doesn't say you must gossip about the details on Mumsnet.

Beansandcoffee - I strongly disagree. Boys are boys regardless of what the current "fashion" may be. I doubt there is a manipulative element to this relationship (although there may be), and it's likely to run its course in a matter of weeks with both parties wiser and - hopefully - happier. Attempting to conflate it it into something it probably isn't seems to be extrapolated from the notion that young women are always the victims when there is an age gap, so consequently boys must be the victim too.

There are no doubt occasions when "safeguarding" may be appropriate, but I would be wary of turning these two kids into victim and perpetrator when they are probably nothing of the kind.
