Sense of humour failure?

My friend sent me a link to this card thinking it was hilarious and I've got to say I'm not seeing the funny side. I do have a sense of humour (honest) but I think if my DS sent me this I'd be gutted.

Maybe I just need to get more sleep but I can't help thinking Mothers Day is the one day of the year where I feel spoilt (and do no housework!) and getting this would ruin it. What's wrong with something nice and maybe some Flowers?

Grim

Splitsunrise · 12/03/2020 12:16

Haha grim. I’d laugh if someone else received it though Shock

CareBear50 · 12/03/2020 12:16

That is crude and horrible. Not remotely funny

Delbelleber · 12/03/2020 12:18

It's funny

20viona · 12/03/2020 12:20

It's funny!

SuddenArborealStop · 12/03/2020 12:21

It's not the relationship you have with your mother or children but you don't get to decide for everyone else

Hmmmm88 · 12/03/2020 12:21

I think it's funny

zol1 · 12/03/2020 12:23

I know that, each to their own. But i wouldn't want to get it - hopefully they know me well enough!

If any of my kids sent me this I’d be bloody annoyed

3 out of 4 of them were bloody pulled, heaved and dragged out as assisted deliveries and even the one who I delivered myself didn’t bloody “fall”...

AutumnRose1 · 12/03/2020 12:25

I find it quite funny but I guess it’s context

If you feel really worn down then it’s not funny.

Mum would hate it because of the word.

SmileyClare · 12/03/2020 12:30

Beaver jokes can be funny. As can jokes about knobs. Making jokes about your mum's beaver with her? Not funny. Toe curlingling awkward and inappropriate.

Shinycat · 12/03/2020 12:48

@zol1 YANBU it's awful. I would HATE to receive that from one of my DC.

madcatladyforever · 12/03/2020 12:51

That would go in the bin here. It's just vulgar not funny at all.

Youdreamedmydreamforme · 12/03/2020 12:51

Gross

Alsohuman · 12/03/2020 12:52

It made me laugh. I’d just be pleased to get a card.

Yes! This! It’s funny, but really not something I’d send to my Mum

I saw the attached on the other day, it’s funny I guess, it’s just cringe and awkward to send to your Mum

Yuck. Not for me either.

Back in the early 80's I got a Valentine card from my boyfriend at the time, that was bloody awful. A huge card with a horrible photo of a pig and words about being hog into me or something like that. Made me want to vomit.

BUT my DS [now 27 and not sired by pigman] is really thoughtful about cards he sends me - and the words he adds inside. I am so lucky.

Winterwoollies · 12/03/2020 15:34

I think it’s funny. It doesn’t offend me and it wouldn’t offend my mum either. I probably wouldn’t give it to me mum but I do enjoy the non-schmaltzy cards you can buy these days. As a family we favour funny/rude cards.

vnw78 · 18/03/2020 16:32

I think it's pretty funny! Don't think I'd send it to my mum though.

BodiesMakeForGoodFertiliser · 18/03/2020 16:33

😂

Zaphodsotherhead · 18/03/2020 16:53

Yeah, I wouldn't like this one either. It's just a bit...disrespectful, I think?
OTOH my kids sent me a 'Welcome to your new home' card that just said 'we know where you live...' which I thought was hysterical.

I think childbirth is bad enough without your kids minimising it!

AngstyAnnie · 18/03/2020 18:08

Ha! Funny Grin wouldn't buy it for my mum as she can be quite prudish but would laugh if my DC gave it to me

amusedbush · 18/03/2020 18:15

It depends on the relationship with your mum. I once bought mine a card that said ‘happy birthday, you attention-grabbing cow’ - she roared with laughter!

(Anyone how knows my mum knows she needs to be the centre of attention and will throw a party at the drop of a hat)

OhLook · 18/03/2020 18:17

I think it's funny, but I wouldn't want it sent to me.

I drove past a pub called The Beaver once.

Andahelterskelterroundmylittle · 18/03/2020 18:28

Not funny .. grim
