Sense of humour failure?

My friend sent me a link to this card thinking it was hilarious and I've got to say I'm not seeing the funny side. I do have a sense of humour (honest) but I think if my DS sent me this I'd be gutted.

Maybe I just need to get more sleep but I can't help thinking Mothers Day is the one day of the year where I feel spoilt (and do no housework!) and getting this would ruin it. What's wrong with something nice and maybe some Flowers?

You'd have to have a certain type of relationship to get away with this I reckon. Mine's dead though...still not sure she'd be impressed!

Alsohuman · 18/03/2020 19:26

I know someone whose maiden name was Beaver.

Weird card to send your mum.
Seriously, who makes that association?
It's your mum. Mums are like Barbie - they don't have genitalia.
That's a known fact.

NoShitHemlock · 18/03/2020 20:01

That made me laugh! Now I want to get it for *DM (67) who won't even remotely understand it, and that will be funnier!

*yes, we have that kind of relationship - she will probably tell me to fuck off (once someone has explained it to her Grin)

YouForgetYourself · 18/03/2020 20:08

Nah that's horrible. Reduces a mother to a birthing mammal whose vagina is so large a baby can 'fall' out of it? Confused

Ok maybe I'm being corny but I would want send my mum a card that makes hopefully indicates a fraction of how much I value her efforts and sacrifices to support over the years, up to and including the present day. Not that she physically birthed me 35 years ago (even though I understand that probably wasn't an easy 24h).

Bluntness100 · 18/03/2020 20:11

I think your friend sent it to you as a joke, it’s not from your child and she’s not your mum,

To be fair it made me laugh, my daughter wouldn’t send me it, she’s not crude, but I’d laugh if a mate fired it through.

Bluntness100 · 18/03/2020 20:13

The ops kid didn’t send it to her, her mate did. That’s very different, she’s not her mates mum. I think.

PhoneTwattery · 18/03/2020 20:20

My Mum loves mushy cards. They are SO not me but I indulge her every year.

This year I couldn’t resist this! She’ll hate it but she loves me!

I would hate to receive that card, so vulgar and inappropriate

JellyTots2009 · 18/03/2020 20:38

My son came home from school with a home made card and I'm shocked by what he wrote in it.
All the normal happy monthers day then 'from a kid' I looked at him all confused and he just laughed.
Kinda upset me seeing as he couldn't put the effor into writing his name.
I said I named you *peanut not 'a kid'

Timewastingideas · 18/03/2020 20:43

I saw that card- very funny but not appropriate to give to your mum 🤢

ILikeYouToo · 18/03/2020 22:59

It's not something I'd send (or like to receive, but my kids are too young atm!). But I can think of some friends who I could definitely see sending it to their mums! Grin

CircleofWillis · 19/03/2020 06:35

It made me laugh but I wouldn't give it to my mum or want to receive it from my child.

Spidey66 · 19/03/2020 06:58

I've got quite a black sense of humour (having been sharing various memes on FB about coronavirus which have amused me but are a bit dark) but that's a bit much, even for me. It seems disrespectful. I'm not a mum but if I sent that to my (late) mum she'd be horrified, and very upset.

EmmaB2014 · 20/03/2020 11:28

I would find it really funny if I received this card but my OH does send contraversial cards like this. If my son sent this to me I would be proud of his sense of humour. So long as it was sent with good intentions it's alright. Maybe you could punish him with a detailed description of how child birth is the opposite of 'falling out' of a beaver.
