I’m in so much pain, don’t know what to do

For about a week I’ve had muscular pain in my neck and shoulders and upper back. Thought I’d slept funny. I started two days ago with muscle aches in my thighs. Felt like I’d ran a marathon the day before. Since then the pain has spread EVERYWHERE. My arms, all over my back, my stomach, my feet and hands ... I’m in so much pain.

This morning I woke up at 4am feeling like I’d had a heavy night of drinking the night before. Headache, dry mouth, everything hurting ... managed to fall back asleep, woke up at 6:30 and got up. Feel like I’ve got the hangover from hell. I can barely move. Feel sick, groggy, headache, everything hurts.

I had my bloods done on Monday due to fatigue experienced for weeks now.

I’m worried, what on earth would cause muscular pain all over? I don’t know how I’m going to cope at work today. I can barely move.

What pain medication have you tried and has it made a difference?

CassandraGoth · 12/03/2020 07:06

Paracetamol and ibuprofen. No difference. Appetite has disappeared too.

Temperature is all over, hot and sweaty to shivering cold. No sneezing or coughing though.

Sounds a bit like flu, although flu isn't usually so gradual. Have you called 111 or asked a GP for a phone appointment?

Lockheart · 12/03/2020 07:07

If you're in that much pain you should go to a doctor, not go to work!

CassandraGoth · 12/03/2020 07:09

I saw GP on Monday. I’ve had urine and blood tests. Nothing else they can do apparently

madcatladyforever · 12/03/2020 07:10

Yes you need to call your GPS or 111 straight away. Don't go to work until you've done it..

NeedToKnow101 · 12/03/2020 07:11

Sorry but maybe you have Coronavirus. It causes severe muscle pain and flu-like symptoms doesn't it?

MarshaBradyo · 12/03/2020 07:12

Don’t go to work?

CassandraGoth · 12/03/2020 07:13

Corona doesn’t cause muscular pain does it? Plus I don’t have a cough. (Well, I have the odd cough but not prologued coughing)

A high temperature is a sure sign of a virus or infection. You need to stay at home until you feel better to avoid spreading it to others and it sounds as though there's no way you will be able to function at work anyway!

Lots of rest, fluids and pain relief. A hot water bottle or baths may help especially with back, shoulder aches. Hope you feel better soon.

amaretto83 · 12/03/2020 07:16

Have they tested your CK (creatine kinase) levels? I had these symptoms a month ago and mine were very raised. I had to be admitted to hospital to have IV fluids as raised CK can affect the kidneys. It eased off after a day of this and I was allowed home. GP has referred me to rheumatology to find what caused it.

TheVanguardSix · 12/03/2020 07:16

Do your arms, jaw, upper back hurt, OP?
I was blue lighted to A&E after collapsing in the street. I was sure I had coronavirus. They performed CPR after I went into cardiac arrest. Shocked me back. Bells and whistles. Nearly died. But fuck me, here I am in MN. Grin
Get yourself to A&E and get your heart/lungs checked. I had a torn artery (which kinda sucks) but they were initially suspicious of a heart attack or pulmonary embolism. You need tests.

TheVanguardSix · 12/03/2020 07:18

I had cold, clammy sweats.

SmileyClare · 12/03/2020 07:19

Symptoms of flu:
High temperature
Severe aches, muscle pain
Headache,
Difficulty sleeping
Loss of appetite
Cough

You don't have to have a cough or sore throat to have flu. There are different strains.

SmileyClare · 12/03/2020 07:22

I missed the main flu symptom off; extreme prolonged fatigue and feelings of exhaustion.

FrankieManca · 12/03/2020 07:24

You absolutely must not go to work!

CassandraGoth · 12/03/2020 07:24

On wait for 111 now. 30 calls before me

Corona doesn’t cause muscular pain does it?

Yes, it does. Do not go to work and phone 111 for further advice.

AutumnalLeaves38 · 12/03/2020 07:26

That sounds horrible.
You poor thing.

Don't think you'll be working today...

Maybe request a phone call back from any GP at your practice, as an interim measure until your bloods results come through, and just in case today's development of symptoms warrants a face-to-face appt?

Hope things improve asap.

I see the conversation's moved on a lot.

Good luck x

foamrolling · 12/03/2020 07:28

Please ignore the people trying to diagnose you with coronavirus over the Internet Hmm I'm glad you're ringing for advice though, whatever you have is getting worse not better so it sounds like you need some medical attention.

Fluffybutter · 12/03/2020 07:30

If you have a mucus cough then it isn’t Coronavirus, dry cough then it very well could be .
Hope you feel better soon

VideographybyLouBloom · 12/03/2020 07:34

@foamrolling I don’t think anyone is trying to diagnose her with Covid-19 over the internet however people are advising her not to go to work and to seek medical advice. Merely common sense when we are in the midst of a pandemic.
