I’m in so much pain, don’t know what to do

For about a week I’ve had muscular pain in my neck and shoulders and upper back. Thought I’d slept funny. I started two days ago with muscle aches in my thighs. Felt like I’d ran a marathon the day before. Since then the pain has spread EVERYWHERE. My arms, all over my back, my stomach, my feet and hands ... I’m in so much pain.

This morning I woke up at 4am feeling like I’d had a heavy night of drinking the night before. Headache, dry mouth, everything hurting ... managed to fall back asleep, woke up at 6:30 and got up. Feel like I’ve got the hangover from hell. I can barely move. Feel sick, groggy, headache, everything hurts.

I had my bloods done on Monday due to fatigue experienced for weeks now.

I’m worried, what on earth would cause muscular pain all over? I don’t know how I’m going to cope at work today. I can barely move.

111 said I need to call my GP within the hour. When you ring the GP an automated message says if you have any of these symptoms, stay away from the surgery and call 111

Excellent. Nice joined up service. Unfortunately you'll have to go back to 111 and say your GP isn't accepting any calls at all and is just directing people to 111.

Cissyandflora · 12/03/2020 07:49

So how will you get through to a doctor? I think this is because 111 just can’t cope at the moment. I tried to call yesterday but hung up because they were so busy and my needs were not urgent. Maybe try your surgery again and explain to a receptionist.

For me, that was my exact experience of glandular fever.

lilybetsy · 12/03/2020 07:51

you probably have the flu. the symptoms you describe are typical. rest fluids. simple analgesia. Flu is not the same as a cold, it is an unpleasant illness

CarolinaPink · 12/03/2020 07:53

Ring the GP again. Having an automated message doesn't mean they won't pick up the phone. When they do, explain that 111 directed you back to the GP. See what they suggest. I hope you feel much better soon Thanks

Regardless you really should sleep
And not go to work
If there is ever a time when a sicky is not frowned upon , it’s now !

KeepYourWigOn · 12/03/2020 08:04

This sounds very similar to a bug I had in December. Bed rest, fluids, pain killers. I rarely cry, but I shed a few tears when it was really bad. I was on holiday too - spent the whole time in bed.

NeedToKnow101 · 12/03/2020 08:06

Of course you can't go to work!

NeedToKnow101 · 12/03/2020 08:08

And I wasn't 'diagnosing' Coronavirus over the internet, but obviously it needs to be taken into account, both for OP sake, and anyone she meets if she's dragging herself into work.

FenellaMaxwell · 12/03/2020 08:10

I don’t want to alarm you but pain and a feeling like you might die can all be symptoms of heart attack in women - I think to be honest it’s worth going to A&E

SmileyClare · 12/03/2020 08:15

You have my sympathy but with your symptoms a doctor can't do anything but advise you to treat your flu like symptoms at home. Feeling hot and then shivery is a definite sign you have a bug or virus which will pass.
Regular paracetamol, rest and lots of fluids. Brew Flowers

Seek help if your temperature goes above 101/38 you have trouble breathing or sudden increased heart rate.

NeedToKnow101 · 12/03/2020 22:28

Hello OP how are you doing?

AutumnalLeaves38 · 13/03/2020 18:33

Hello, OP

Hope by now you've managed to find decent pain relief, and have turned the corner.

AltoClef · 13/03/2020 18:35

I had extreme muscular pain when I had scarlet fever.
