I'm really sorry to post this here but I have no one else to ask and I'm freaking out as I have bad anxiety already.

I had surgical management of miscarriage nearly 3 weeks ago. I did have some pain and bleeding for around a week afterwards which appears to be normal however this stopped about a week and a half ago.

Today I had a sudden pain in my abdomen, it was quite painful and when I went to the toilet this was there.

Should I be concerned about this? I'm worried that it could be leftover tissue from the pregnancy.

I am actually ill at the moment, started with a temp a few days ago but put it down to a cold oncoming. Now I'm concerned it's an infection.

My hospital emergency gynecology unit aren't answering at all and it's miles away.

I don't know if I'm just freaking out over nothing though. Would you go to the hospital if they won't answer the phone?

Again I'm sorry to post, I know it's gross but I'm so worried, the pain was quite bad, it stopped me in my tracks for a while.

So sorry for your loss.

I have no idea really but since you've been feeling unwell and have a temperature I would ring 111 for advice.

Hope all is okay x

ismellamouse · 11/03/2020 17:31

I wouldn't go to hospital but I'd contact my GP. they can refer you on if necessary.

WhatsYourFavouriteHummingNoise · 11/03/2020 17:34

So sorry for your loss Thanks

I would ring 111. The temperature would concern me. Best get yourself checked out. Take care.

TmiSorrysorry · 11/03/2020 17:35

Just to clarify when I say hospital, I mean the gynecology unit (there's a 24/7 walk in one at our city hospital) not A&E.

I think I'll ring the GP in the meantime. It was just the pain has made me really concerned.

I’d definitely try to see someone sooner rather than later with the temperature plus the pain plus what’s come away. Don’t risk a serious infection.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 11/03/2020 17:37

I don’t know for sure, but following a surgical termination I had a large lump come out when I went to the loo a few days later. A dr assured me that it would have been a blood clot, nothing else. I hope you’re ok and can get some advice/reassurance.

sparepantsandtoothbrush · 11/03/2020 17:38

This is a gross question but does it smell and do you still have pain? When I had retained tissue I was in constant pain and there was a smell of rotting flesh Blush

Mamalifeee · 11/03/2020 17:38

I had this after my second miscarriage and had to go into hospital as I had a infection and had to be put on a drip and have pessaries to get rid of excess tissue ..
So sorry to see your going through this please get checked out xx

TmiSorrysorry · 11/03/2020 17:45

Thanks. I'm not in constant pain no. I keep having twinges though like somethings pinching. Feels quite achey too, like a dull pain.

I expected some clots etc... And did have some in the first few days but obviously this is nearing three weeks now and it was so sudden that it's shook me up. I've had no bleeding or pain now for over a week and them bam.

I think I'll ring 111 and see what they say.

Usually I freak out over nothing to fingers crossed but I won't relax until I know.

I think you need checked over tonight, don't put it off.

TheBigFatMermaid · 11/03/2020 17:50

Ring 111. No question.

lyingwanker · 11/03/2020 18:04

Sorry for your loss.

I had a similar procedure a few weeks ago and had clots and tissue like that coming out occasionally for a week or 2. It just got lighter in colour as the days went on.

StrandedStarfish · 11/03/2020 18:39

Dear OP. You need to be seen by a doctor

mineofuselessinformation · 11/03/2020 18:47

You need to be seen if you are feeling unwell - it could be an infection.

PicaK · 11/03/2020 18:52

So sorry for your loss. Please do go get it checked out because of the temp. If its an infection it could suddenly get worse very quickly. You're not making a fuss.

Silab · 11/03/2020 19:01

Sorry for your loss.
You should get checked out. Contact the unit that did the procedure or epau/gynae unit.
After a week of your bleeding stopping it wouldn't normally restart, there is a risk of infection or there may still be some pregnancy tissue retained

BestZebbie · 11/03/2020 19:06

I think you should definitely go to the doctor and not rely on anecdotes from the Internet for care advice.
However I would like to offer the reassurance that despite having a shape it could well be a clot, as I used to have clots quite like that second picture sometimes when on the pill but with no possibility of it being from a pregnancy.

AlpacaGoodnight · 11/03/2020 19:07

So sorry for your loss Flowers I had similar but a little larger about 12 weeks after an emergency d&c. It was really scary but after I had passed I found the pains went after a few days (they told me I didn't need checked out), up until then I had also bled intermittently. I hope it is similar for you, and I know it won't make you feel better bit I actually got pregnant 3 months after that with my daughter so please do not give up hope and think your body is broken as that is what I felt like at the time. Flowers

AlpacaGoodnight · 11/03/2020 19:08

I meant to add mine did look very like that and was pretty solid. It really freaked me out!

bmbonanza · 11/03/2020 19:16

I would say you might need further d&c if there is an infection.

TmiSorrysorry · 11/03/2020 19:17

Thank you all. I'm going to my local walk in centre now. Pain is coming back on and off.

Iloveplacentas · 11/03/2020 19:21

If you are passing clots and feeling unwell you need to be seen ASAP. These are signs of retained products and possible infection.

TmiSorrysorry · 11/03/2020 19:21

I just didn't think it could stop and start like that. Like I've literally been completely blood free for a week and a half now and then this. I'm still not bleeding either. Just this and the pain.

lowlandLucky · 11/03/2020 19:23

Best thing you could do OP, hope you are okFlowers

Polkadotpjs · 11/03/2020 19:28

Poor you OO. I’m sorry. I hope you’re being seen and all is ok
