Answering door in PJs to an expected delivery.

I know IABU but wondered if anyone else feels this irrational guilt.

I had an Asda delivery due this morning. Usually I get up, showered and dressed (even at the weekend) well before 9am. However, this week work kicked my arse a bit so for once I couldn’t be bothered. Asda were due between 9am and 10am and the closer it got the more guilty I felt about opening the door to a planned delivery in my PJs!

In my head I thought of the driver who had probably been up since at least 6am and how slutty (in the old fashioned sense of the word) I’d look.

AIBU to feel guilty?

Once I scheduled a parcel collection, it was supposed to be picked up any time between 9am-6pmHmm the retailer was adamant that they couldn’t be more flexible, so I actually had to take the day off work to accommodate it. The courier then unexpectedly arrived at 7am, so I had no choice but to answer the door in a dressing gown! I certainly didn’t feel self conscious about what I was wearing though.

Nanalisa60 · 07/03/2020 22:39

I don’t think the ASDA driver will care less, I expect they have seen it all, I sometimes stay in my jimjams all day.

WelcomeToTheMountaintop · 07/03/2020 23:04

I don’t have a door in my PJs ☹️

Purpleartichoke · 07/03/2020 23:06

I get deliveries while in my pjs several times a week. Never thought anything of it.

Rubyupbeat · 08/03/2020 03:27

I know how you feel and am the same, even though I know it wont make a difference to the delivery guy.
I suffer from very low mood, which can manifest into deep depression and tbh gettingbup , showered and dressed helps me fend off really bad days, if I wear pjs indoors, psychologically it bring my mood down and makes me sleepy and lethargic.

Really wish I didn’t have a mouth full of tea I read that one @Nomel 🤣🤣🤣

I love a good Mumsnet overused phrase (gaslighting, LTB, are you on glue etc) but finally got one of my very own.

Stealth boast

After wiping the tea off my iPad I’m genuinely trying to figure out what you’d be jealous of. Was I boasting because I shop with Asda, not Netto? Because I can afford pyjamas? Because I live in a dwelling and not a field? Whatever it was you’ve made my fucking day so thank you! 🤣🤣🤣

I find chucking a sweater over the top of the PJs tones down the effect for door-opening purposes.

AryaStarkWolf · 09/03/2020 10:24

Really?

I seriously doubt the Driver gives a shite or a second thought

Firelink · 09/03/2020 10:38

Who the hell wears PJs these days?

ColdTattyWaitingForSummer · 09/03/2020 10:49

Oh dear.. I just had a long conversation with the boiler repair man, while wearing my pyjamas! I’m pretty sure he wasn’t bothered (I didn’t want to get in the shower until the heating was working again).

Siameasy · 09/03/2020 10:53

Bah I often do. Hair sticking up too. Sometimes if I’ve been out and I’m then back home and staying in I change into PJs. I’m still in PJs now as I work shifts.

AvocadosBeforeMortgages · 09/03/2020 16:21

Mondays are my day off and after a particularly tiring week I opened the front door to a courier wearing only a dressing gown, said hello to the neighbours builders and then had to retrieve DDog from said neighbours as he'd decided to go and say hello to the builders (shared hallway).

Not a single fuck was given this morning.

superisha · 09/03/2020 16:33

OMFG I actually can't believe that anyone could have so little to worry about in life that you would remotely worry enough to post about it!

opticaldelusion · 09/03/2020 17:38

Isn't worrying about stuff like this just vanity? Why do people think they're so important that a stranger gives a fuck what they're wearing in their own home?

StCharlotte · 09/03/2020 17:53

I'm pretty sure the Tesco delivery ad has the lady of the house wearing pyjamas and a dressing gown?

WhatWouldYouDoWhatWouldJesusDo · 09/03/2020 17:56

I live in my PJs and dressing gown at home. If I'm in the house I won't be in outdoor wear. 💁🏻‍♀️

dayslikethese1 · 09/03/2020 18:10

Were you flashing him OP? If not, then it's fine Grin

CorianderLord · 09/03/2020 18:57

DP let the builders in once to work on the roof while I stayed asleep in bed. I feel no guilt.

I'm up at 5am for work every other week and the weeks inbetween get home at 9pm. I don't judge you if you're asleep at 10am because I don't know what you do in your other time. My best mate works midnight-8am. At 10am shed be getting ready for bed

DontGoIntoTheLongGrass · 09/03/2020 19:02

I ordered Argos for 6 to 10pm. Totally forgot and both dh and I were in bed for 9pm as we were both a bit ill. Banging on door at 10.05pm and I'm at door in t-shirt and knickers wondering who the fuck it is Grin
