Answering door in PJs to an expected delivery.

I know IABU but wondered if anyone else feels this irrational guilt.

I had an Asda delivery due this morning. Usually I get up, showered and dressed (even at the weekend) well before 9am. However, this week work kicked my arse a bit so for once I couldn’t be bothered. Asda were due between 9am and 10am and the closer it got the more guilty I felt about opening the door to a planned delivery in my PJs!

In my head I thought of the driver who had probably been up since at least 6am and how slutty (in the old fashioned sense of the word) I’d look.

AIBU to feel guilty?

OP to them you're just a number on their list.

They don't give a shit. They don't even notice what you're wearing. They certainly don't go home to their families and discuss what each person they delivered to was wearing. By the time they've pulled off from you're house you're forgotten about.

Seriously. Loosen up.

PeraltasWife · 07/03/2020 16:18

Pj's or normal clothes either way your still dressed. Really dont get the fuss of having to be fully dressed by a certain time on the weekend if you dont have to go anywhere or arnt expecting anyone round. As long as your pjs are clean cant see the issue.

Cheeryandmerry · 07/03/2020 16:21

On days I’m not working I get up at 5.30, run, then come home to take the children to school. Then I have a shower. I’m therefore often in my dressing gown at 10 am between getting showered and getting dressed. Sometimes I have my breakfast between the two. If that makes me slutty I really couldn’t care less.

Toomuchtooyoung01 · 07/03/2020 16:21

I doubt the delivery man cared what you were wearing.
If it makes you feel better, i was once breastfeeding on the sofa when someone knocked at the door (i think they were a window salesman) and i realised afterwards one of my boobs wasn't quite put away

iklboo · 07/03/2020 16:22

YABVU. It's full crinoline, bonnet, veil and gloves or you will look slovenly to the tradesmen.

Seriously, I couldn't care less. As long as my norks & foof aren't on show they're lucky Grin

Kawahara · 07/03/2020 16:24

People go into supermarkets in their pjs. I can guarantee the driver didnt care at all.

I once could only get a slot at 6am-7am. I looked like shit. The puppy got so excited she shit in the door way. It could be worse.

Shinycat · 07/03/2020 16:28

I ALWAYS answer the door in my jammies (if it's morning.) Don't see anything wrong with it. YANBU @PhoneTwattery

If people don't like it, I don't care. That's their problem.

PhoneTwattery · 07/03/2020 16:29

He may have appreciated my Pusheen PJ top and Snoopy bottoms! I just want him to stop going on about the “C” word and get my turkey twizzlers away before they started melting!

Sorry I mean YABU! @PhoneTwattery

Charlesthekingcavalier · 07/03/2020 16:29

Honestly, I wouldn’t care

AnnoyedByAlfieBear · 07/03/2020 16:30

I answered the door to an amazon driver wearing a princess dress on book day, so meh!

Nearlyalmost50 · 07/03/2020 16:31

I get home deliveries a lot and work from home, so frequently answer with a large dressing gown on. Don't even think about it now.

PeterPanGoesWrong · 07/03/2020 16:31

I work some really weird hours so am often in my pj’s at mid day etc. I feel less guilt if I’m wearing lounge wear rather than actual pyjamas.

Mummyoflittledragon · 07/03/2020 16:38

Really?? Be glad you are well enough to get dressed and work. Many of us aren’t.

AvonBarksdale99 · 07/03/2020 16:42

The delivery driver won’t care less, as long as you have some form of clothes on. I once delivered something to a big guy who opened the door in just his pants - I definitely noticed that!! Shock Grin

CalmConfident · 07/03/2020 16:46

Totally a non issue, fret not !

codenameduchess · 07/03/2020 16:49

If I'm at home I'm probably in pajamas, have answered the door and gasp hosted visitors in them! Don't feel guilty, that delivery driver has seen much, much worse!

One awkward evening, after a hard day at work, I answered the door to the takeaway delivery driver in a baggy t-shirt and knickers 🤦‍♀️

PlumsGalore · 07/03/2020 16:50

I work from home, sometimes when it has been busy at work I have answered the door on the phone in my pyjamas at 2pm. After work I shower and just put a fresh pair on 🤷‍♀️

trinity0097 · 07/03/2020 16:52

I was expecting someone at 8.30 with my new headboard,so at 7.30 I was just stepping into the shower, had to deal with him with just my dressing gown on!

OneOfManyDays · 07/03/2020 16:53

Doesn't everyone do this?!! I wouldn't bat and eyelid at this!

AnneTwackie · 07/03/2020 16:54

I have taken a delivery with a tit out in my newborn haze. Didn’t bat an eyelid.

Tink2007 · 07/03/2020 16:54

If I know I’m home all day, I’m in my PJs. And I answer the door - it’s never crossed my mind to think of it as an issue.

RhymingRabbit3 · 07/03/2020 16:57

Assuming your pyjamas isnt some sort of lacy black negligee it's fine.

ilovesooty · 07/03/2020 16:59

I do it all the time. It's usually Sunday morning. No way am I bothering to get dressed.

Matildatoldsuchdreadfullies · 07/03/2020 17:00

In the sleep deprived haze of new parenthood, one Saturday we were in bed at 10 in the morning. The doorbell rang and dh woke with a start, leapt left out of bed, and sprinted downstairs. I was a few paces behind him, trying to stop him flinging open the front door, given that he was stark naked. I failed. The delivery man politely averted his eyes as he asked for a signature.

PJs wouldn’t have been a problem.
