A long soak in the bath

Jennifer2r · 06/03/2020 18:02

Am I unreasonable to think this is the least treaty of all the treats, and to not find it relaxing at all?

My bath is right next to my loo so it feels weird anyway even though my loo is clean. The water is hot at first then goes cold. Just lie there for a bit, wash myself, feel bored then get out.

Candles are precarious. I hate reading in the bath, the book gets wet.

I’m similar. I’ve got a waterproof iPad case and prop that up but I hate it when the water starts to cool. I’d like one of those Japanese baths that keeps the water at a constant temperature.

Mydogatemypurse · 06/03/2020 18:08

No, I love baths, couldnt live without one. I find them very relaxing and they ease the pains I have due to a medical condition.

thepeopleversuswork · 06/03/2020 18:09

Totally disagree. For me a long soak in a super hot bath is better than sex. If left to my own devices I would have a bath four times a day. I literally fantasize about them.

NearlyGranny · 06/03/2020 18:09

When I re-did our tired bathroom, I got a big deep bath that has extra insulation. It's one of my purest pleasures wallowing in there. I top up from a trickling hot tap and can easily spend an hour with a good book. Bother the candles; not bright enough to read by!

bushtailadventures · 06/03/2020 18:09

I love a long soak in the bath. Nice bubble bath, no candles though, drink and I have a waterproof Kobo so no wet book. I can easily spend an hour in there, more if I feel like it. Mind you, it's not so relaxing if dgd decides she needs to share

FelicityBeedle · 06/03/2020 18:11

I spend multiple hours in the bath when I can, with a book and topping up the hot water occasionally it’s bliss

bellalou1234 · 06/03/2020 18:12

I love the idea of a hot bath, but het in get bored then put again

Hahaha88 · 06/03/2020 18:19

Why don't you just top up the hot water when it starts to chill? I loooooove a bath

LaurieFairyCake · 06/03/2020 18:21

I have an hour bath in Magnesium Dead Sea salt every day to top up my magnesium levels and help with chronic pain. Works brilliantly.

JasonBrun · 06/03/2020 18:23

YABVU. Just keep a hand towel nearby to dry your hands between page turns. Reading in the bath is one of life's foremost pleasures.

In fact, if anyone has any recommendations for a waterproof reading light I would love to hear them! Candles too time, light too bright!

LoobyLou1976 · 06/03/2020 18:25

It's one of the highlights of my day! I can easily spend 2 hours in a piping hot bath with a good book. Literally all of my books are 'wobbly' due to being read in the bath. Bliss, with some lovely bath products. Sometimes fall asleep!

HarrietThePi · 06/03/2020 18:25

I have baths more often than showers because I can't always stand in the shower, but I don't enjoy baths particularly. If you stay in too long they go cold. I also hate getting out of the bath because I always feel freezing!

WildflowerChild · 06/03/2020 18:25

I really don’t get posts like this. Some people like doing one thing and others don’t.

Not sure what’s hard to grasp about that.

BookMeOnTheSudExpress · 06/03/2020 18:27

I am in one right now. Badedas bubbles, just read my book for half an hour. Topped up the water.
Now't better.

WatchingFromTheWings · 06/03/2020 18:27

I love a soak in the bath. My bath is huge and stays hot for ages. If I'm having a soak after a run/race I take pizza and wine with me! The rim of the bath is wide enough to balance a plate and a glass! 😁

HarrietThePi · 06/03/2020 18:27

I've never done the whole candles thing though. I do have a nice Neal yards bubble bath that I got for Christmas and love the smell of which has made baths a bit more enjoyable. I've decided to treat myself to another one when it runs out.

Sometimes it’s fun and interesting to open up a discussion about various topics and to find out other people’s ideas and opinions;
It’s certainly not doing any harm and is preferable to attacking people on line.
😊😊😊

I expect that it depends upon your bathroom. I have a lovely big bath looking out of a window onto countryside, so it's a lovely place to relax with bubbles, candles and an audiobook.

FrangipaniBlue · 06/03/2020 18:33

YABVU

On Sunday I will have the house to myself for around 3 or 4 hours...... guess where I'm planning to be for at least half of it ?

nosleepp · 06/03/2020 18:34

YABVVVU this is the best treat of all

goldenorbspider · 06/03/2020 18:34

Not for me

AnneJeanne · 06/03/2020 18:35

We recently had our bathroom replaced. Tiles and white goods. I was without a bath for 3 weeks and hated it!

SmileyClare · 06/03/2020 18:40

I love a bath too, especially in the winter.

I think I'm addicted to the feeling after a bath; all clean and warm and relaxed in my fluffy pyjamas. It's all rock and roll here Grin

Kermitsbiggestfan · 06/03/2020 18:44

I too am in the bath right now! It's lovely.
Big glass of wine on the side.
It's been a tough week; nice to relax now it's Friday.

GooodMythicalMorning · 06/03/2020 18:45

I get in when the bath is about a third full then just run the hot tap whilst I'm bathing. stays hot then.
