How has this become the highlight of my week? 😂

In fact scrap that, not just my week, quite possibly of the year so far, even beating my 10 year wedding anniversary last month. So what is this amazing event that has got me so excited...
FIRST LOT OF WASHING HANGING OUT ON THE LINE!!!!!!! 🥂🥂🥂🥂🎉🎊
yep, that's right, I'm super excited that for the first time in what feels like forever I have got washing out airing. I know its not warm enough for it to dry and I'll have to finish it in the radiator but I'm so happy it's out getting blown in the fresh air, I love the feel of it afterwards, and even better its bedding so I can put it on my bed tonight.
So aibu to be this happy about it, surely I can't be the only one?!?!

I commented on how this day was coming soon last weekend Grin

Areyoufree · 06/03/2020 13:31

Yup. When we talk about looking forward to summer, it's not wearing bikinis, running along beaches, or even sitting in pub gardens that we wistfully dream about. It's getting 3 loads of washing dried outside in a single day.

timeforawine · 06/03/2020 13:32

Me too!!!!!!!! Mine's out there blowing in the breeze, very happy :-)

mogloveseggs · 06/03/2020 13:32

I've got mine out!
It's 9 degrees so might even make it to double figures!!!
Got the back door open and can hear birds singing!

Chillicheese123 · 06/03/2020 13:32

I just went to dry some washing on the line and I realized I chucked my pegs over Xmas and never got any new ones 😿

Twiggy71 · 06/03/2020 13:49

Haven't gotten mine out yet and now it's raining Hmm

mbosnz · 06/03/2020 13:50

I just saw the neighbour hanging hers out, we shared a big smile and thumbs up over that!

JoyceDivision · 06/03/2020 13:52

It is a proper highlight of the year! First Piaf on the line that dries! Spring is sprung, the grass is riz, I wonder where the washing is?

nornironrock · 06/03/2020 13:55

Totally unreasonable.

I hate hanging washing with a passion. Any time my wife buys anything that can't go in the tumble dryer, my heart sinks. Surely, in 2020, manufacturers can create fibres that can be dried conveniently.

I can only hope that one day, I have so much time, that I am prepared to piss it up the wall hanging washing. Dear god, even just thinking about it makes my blood boil.... Seriously, hanging washing???? What a total waste of time.

ILikeyourHairyHands · 06/03/2020 13:58

I've just washed a load of bedding. It's outside now. Happy days.

ILikeyourHairyHands · 06/03/2020 13:59

I think you may be missing the small pleasures in life Norn.

Etinox · 06/03/2020 14:00

@nornironrock as opposed to the resources it takes to dry indoors

IntermittentParps · 06/03/2020 14:04

Oh, no, it's a lovely moment! Hasn't happened to me yet as I did a wash just yesterday when it rained ALL DAY. But it won't be long.

[sad case] [middle-aged]

namechangin · 06/03/2020 14:07

My neighbours have cut their grass so I can smell freshly cut grass (amazing on its own!) as well sit outside in the sun (with a thick jumper on admittedly) and listen to the birds pretending it's summer 😂

PhilCornwall1 · 06/03/2020 14:11

No chance down here sadly, it's been like a constant bloody hurricane for the last few weeks. Clothes on the dryer in the dining room. I'm working in there today, surrounded by my wife's pants!! Hmmit needs to be on the line!!!!!

AlmostAlwyn · 06/03/2020 14:21

This was me yesterday! Don't have a tumble dryer so drying bedding inside is such a pain! I got it out early enough for it to dry too! Glitterball

Sparklypurpleunicornsaremyfav · 06/03/2020 14:24

nornironrock
It took about 3 minutes to hang my bedding out, about the same time it would have taken to load the tumble dryer and turn it on, plus I'm saving money and the environment so win win in my eyes 😊👍🏻
chillicheese123 I'll send you some of mine!!! 😂 😂 😂

I had nine white school shirts blowing about on the line in the sunshine earlier. It was bloody marvellous! Grin

Oilyoilyoilgob · 06/03/2020 14:25

4th load just hung out-glorious here in Yorkshire! Great to have the sun shining and the birds singing, makes me much more inclined to clean and tidy!

Disfordarkchocolate · 06/03/2020 14:26

Two days in a row here. Line dried towels smelling so lovely are soon to be put away. I also know I need to do lots of weeding if it's nice tomorrow.

nornironrock · 06/03/2020 14:42

ok... a little blowback on my preferences, I see.

Resources - that's what electricity generated from renewables is for. Also, the impact of me using a dryer or not is so infinitesimally small it makes no difference. (The fact I drive an EV probably makes much more difference than I would make by hanging my washing outside)

Time - my drier is next to the washing machine. There is simply no way taking the washing out, and hanging it would take as little time as bunging it in the drier.

Each to their own, as they say, but my own is spending time on other stuff.

Have a great weekend everyone, and let's hope the weather stays good enough for hanging out washing. Or doing something else.

Purplelion · 06/03/2020 14:46

I’ve just hung my 3rd loads of the day out, and now my washing basket is EMPTY (With 3 children this is something to be celebrated!)

longtompot · 06/03/2020 15:19

@nornironrock you could do what a neighbour of ours has done and have a tumble dryer outside! I shit you not. How it's not blown up with all the rain we've had, but still going.

Anyway, OP YANBU as I dried a whole load on the last dry day we had, just had to do a short tumble to get the dry. I've got a load out there now and just waiting for a white wash to finish to hang that out too. Love the sight and smell of washing on the line Smile

These loads will also stay out All Night so getting darked on and no doubt have spiders willies rubbed on it Grin

michaelbaubles · 06/03/2020 15:23

I'm tight frugal so the thrill of doing something for free which would otherwise cost money (tumble drier/heating on) is unbeatable for me. I went for a walk at lunchtime and saw two lines of washing in the sunshine and suddenly got excited about drying out season beginning!

Somanysocks · 06/03/2020 15:24

Yey, two lots out, bedding and towels. So satisfying. Also got groceries in a shop where there hasn't been any panic buying so double smug.
