AIBU to find posts lie this on FB intensely irritating...
"Hi laydees,
So I wanna get a facial . Don’t go to salons other than for hair . So any recommendations for a reasonably priced (but good obv) I’m town centre plz".
Post is on local FB group. Struggling not to post snarky response! "
Perhaps I'm just a grumpy old fart.... However, a momentary distraction from my current addiction to Corona updates and stockpiling threads.

Blimey! Really? Who cares, just scroll past.

idontlike789 · 05/03/2020 18:08

Only the bit saying Hi laydees Confused

pictish · 05/03/2020 18:09

And what importantwriter said too.
That.

Pinkginhelps · 05/03/2020 18:10

@franticbutterfly ...snark away. It probably is a stupid post (MINE) but the post that I have quoted irritated me nonetheless.

Join a couple of the Rate or Slate My Plate type fb groups, it's expected that you will be as offensive as possible. Very cathartic.

LettertoHermoine · 05/03/2020 18:13

You'd wanna plz check yerself Laydee! You are obvs a grump!

Vanhi · 05/03/2020 18:15

I'd spend my entire life being annoyed if I let that get to me. It's someone with a very different outlook on life to me but honestly, there's so much pettiness and hatred in the world at the moment that I'd leave them to it. Hopefully someone will post a recommendation and a local business will get something out of it.

Pinkginhelps · 05/03/2020 18:25

@Bluntness100 Not all slang or abbreviated words annoy me so I couldn't use that as a post title. (Thank you for the suggestion though). I certainly wasn't annoyed. Nonetheless, the devil in me did want to say something snarky. I didn't because I knew it would be horrid, petty, hurtful and completely unreasonable so I didn't. That said, the use of "laydees" and "wanna" did really did irritate me. Hardly a big issue but it did relieve me momentarily from my obsession with lurking on all things corona so really, I should thank her.

You do realise that every local Facebook group has posts like this?

You may find it annoying but there are loads of people to whom this is completely normal.

#BeKind

Pinkginhelps · 05/03/2020 18:29

@LettertoHermoine I am obvs v v v grumpy. I am gonna check myself.

StillCoughingandLaughing · 05/03/2020 18:33

She does sound a bit common, to be fair. It would probably be a bit cruel to point it out though.

Pinkginhelps · 05/03/2020 18:37

@UntamedWisteria there are loads of people to whom this is completely normal . I suspect that's why it irritated/ irritates me. I will try to #BeKind

Lausch95 · 05/03/2020 18:39

Can see your point in a way, OP. But it's harmless, she is simply asking for recommendations. I wouldn't let it bother me. Facebook is full of similar posts and they can be annoying but let it be.

puds11 · 05/03/2020 18:42

Urgh #BeKind people irritate me Grin

eaglejulesk · 05/03/2020 18:47

Sadly that is how many people write/speak these days. It's irritating, but just bite your lip, still your hand, and move on Grin

userabcname · 05/03/2020 18:50

I do know what you mean OP. My pet peeve is when people put "help a momma out!" on baby groups, or "you got this mama bear!" I KNOW they are being nice and it does no harm but god it's annoying (and no I'd never say anything!).

Ffsseriously · 05/03/2020 18:52

@StillCoughingandLaughing seriously really seriously you think that is an ok thing to say. Wtf is wrong with people.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 05/03/2020 18:53

The tweeness of it, and the spellings, are irritating, I agree.

Deep, calming breaths . . .

gamerwidow · 05/03/2020 18:56

Irritating, but who does it hurt? One of the school mums asks for recommendations for everything and I’m sure it’s just to let everyone know what she’s buying. Wouldn’t dream of commenting though. What’s the point? It wouldn’t really make me feel better in the long run and she can make a fool of herself without my help.

user1498572889 · 05/03/2020 18:56

There would be no point posting a sarky response. The type of people who use the words laydees and wanna would not understand sarcasm if it smacked them in the face. 😂😂

runrabbitrunrunrun · 05/03/2020 19:02

Delete social media apps for a week and evaluate how you feel! You will feel much better!

MimiLaRue · 05/03/2020 19:04

I don't get it? why do you want to post something mean to this? whats the problem?
This enrages you? geez- how do you get through life

Ponoka7 · 05/03/2020 19:06

Are you aware of the, Laydeez do comics, event, due to be held at Manchester University?

Also, like it or not, some cultures still use lady. It isn't for you to dictate the words the world can use.

Mlou32 · 05/03/2020 19:08

You sound mean and nasty.

Ponoka7 · 05/03/2020 19:09
