Anyone remember the band hear'say?! Darius?

I saw them in Birmingham aged about ten (I'm now 30) and got Suzanne autograph
Just wondered what happened to Danny really...Suzanne and kym the soaps, myleenes doing really well, seen Noel on Gavin and Stacey.

Darius wasn’t on fame academy. It was the itv pre run of X factor he was on. Pop idol I think. Fame academy was bbc - David sneddon etc

Kevin Simm, formerly of Liberty X and The Voice is now the lead singer of Wet Wet Wet.

Fame Academy also produced Lemar.

I saw Alex Parks at a bus stop in Sydney once.

Saw Darius in Funny Girl where he was great and Gone with the wind which was possible the worst musical I've seen in my life.

Meet Kevin Simm, he is such a talented and kind man. Shame he didn’t make it big time.

@skippetyskoo hearsay and liberty x were formed on the show "popstars" not pop idol. The second season of popstars was called popstars the rivals formed girls aloud, so was much more successful!
Darius had a nice tone to his voice, I hope he's still singing.

Oh and Nigel Lithgoe (sp?) went on to produce American Idol and a bunch of other successful shows, so did very very well, better than just appearing on a British soap afterwards.

I was (am still) a massive Darius and Lemar fan. Dug out all my old CDs a few weeks ago and they're still brilliant! Saw Lemar in concert 5 times, have never seen Darius but would love to.

I vaguely remember seeing him interviewed years later and they played this clip (he was suitably embarrassed by it!) and then listed all his achievements since. He'd had a number one album and I think a platinum one.

The other thing I remember about Hearsay is the lovely Danny saying people assumed it made him a millionaire but they just got a fairly decent average wage. I don't think any of them had writing credits so I guess other people did well or if the brief busy of fame the site gave them

I also realised I'm humming the lightening seeds version of pure and simple, can't remember the Hearsay song at all!

I was good friends with one of Darius’ flat mates at the time of Popstars and Pop Idol (if you remember, he did both!) - and I lived in a flat nearby. He was probably like you imagine - nice enough guy but a bit pleased with himself. And super tall. Somewhere I have a book mark with his picture and text begging for your vote when he was on Pop Idol. He’d had a load printed and asked his flatmates to hand them out at the nearby Tesco.... his flatmates politely declined

Think I've got Liberty X's album somewhere. Cant remember any of their names now, though my brain has just whispered "Jessica" at me which may or may not be one of them.

Just to make it clear. A lot of people seem to be conflation a number of different shows.
Darius was on pop stars originally, had a ponytail and was weird and arrogant. The winning 5 became hearsay, Suzanne shaw, Myleene Klass, Kym Marsh, Noel Sullivan, and Danny. All successful after in acting, presenting or musicals except Danny.
Runners up became Liberty X. 5 or so hit singles, less success after but Kevin won the voice (listen to his chandelier audition if you get the chance- it’s amazing)

Then pop idol came and Darius turned up without pony tail and looking gorgeous! He came 3rd behind Will Young and Gareth Gates. Other finalists included Jessica Garlick who did Eurovision and Zoe Burkett who works in theatre.

Then Popstars the rivals producing one true voice - no breakout stars and Girls aloud.

Then pop idol 2 which really only produced tv presenters Sam and Mark though I think winner Michelle Macmanus is still quite prominent in Scotland.

daniel Liberty x were Kevin, Tony, Jessica (who is married to Kevin Pietersen and did Dancing on Ice, Kelle, and Michelle (reality personality married to Andy Scott-Lee)

I loved Alex Parks, she inspired my DDs name haha!!!

Suzanne from Pop Idol in on the radio now and Songs of Praise.
Her boy and my DD used to be at Primary together before they moved up north. Went out for a drink with the school mum's and it had bugged me why she was familiar until one of them asked me did I watch Pop Idol.
The press had been horrific to her calling her a bully backstage. She was actually lovely!

This thread has bought back some memories!

Like other posters I saw Darius in Funny Girl. I ended up seeing him three times in our attempts to see Sheridan Smith playing the lead ( I wanted to make a joke there about seeing her Fanny!) and he was very good every time. I hope he gets more theatre work.

I loved Alex Parks at the time, I bought the album but couldn’t name a track from it now. Lamar on the other hand - I was playing his album on Friday night and it’s still great. He has such a beautiful voice.

Darius used to date the woman who’s now married to Guy Ritchie...

I went to a hearsay concert. It was surprisingly good!

I know you asked about Danny but I saw Noel a couple of months ago as the lead of School of Rock in the west end. He was good ! It’s closing this weekend though so who knows what he’ll be doing next

I loved Darius! He goes by Darius Campbell now I think. He was married to the actress Natasha Henstridge for a while, not sure if he still is though. He won that Popstar to Opera Star show aswell.

Michelle Heaton and Andy Scott Lee divorced years ago, she's married to another guy now and has two kids. A few years ago she found out she had the breast cancer gene and underwent preventative surgery. She did quite a bit of publicity about it to raise awareness, she is very likeable IMO.

Liberty X were better than Hear'Say!

I don’t understand the Darius love?! I found him really creepy and full of himself.

Lemar seemed a nice guy and had a lovely voice, but his music was dull.

I honestly couldn’t tell you another Hearsay song besides Pure & Simple, or a Liberty X song other than Just a Little. They weren’t very talented, any of them. The blokes in particular in both bands were so very average.

He's 'mrdannyfoster' on Instagram, can't believe I forgot about him! Going to search them all now!

I saw both “live” (keeping my mate company - honest). Never turn down a chance to see music -sometimes you can be surprised. Darius was actually quite good with a strong voice.
