Inappropriate clothing at a netball tournament - one of the fathers that is!

So, watching a netball tournament this week and to be fair the weather was very windy. One of the fathers turned up wearing very lightweight shorts, so lightweight than when the wind blew, well lets just say I had a really good knowledge of his anatomy.

Now this was a tournament for yr 6 girls. Friends and I were literally crying with laughter and not quite sure where to look.

Lo and behold, at an even bigger tournament the next day and there he was again in the same or identical shorts (it had snowed in the morning in case anyone is wondering I I am in Australia).

So, the games staff from my DC's school felt he was dressed extremely inappropriately and so did I. But would anyone have actually said anything? Is it possible he was just oblivious?

Find his car in the car park and write "we can all see your willy!" In the dirt

GinnyStrupac · 28/02/2020 20:59

Yes, I would have offered him a hairy dog blanket from the back of the car and suggested he wear it like a toga.

there's a big difference between wearing a normal dress blown up by the wind

I disagree actually. When you are on an official engagement, and you know your photo will go round the world, it might happen once that it gets blown up by the wind and you show too much. The 2nd time it's a choice.

I am not a royal but the others manage to avoid such incidents.

I don't have any opinion about the shorts, I haven't seen them. I don't know why anyone would wear sport tights without shorts either!

managedmis · 28/02/2020 21:05

So you saw his cock?

Thinkingabout1t · 28/02/2020 21:05

Ugh, this reminds me of Jimmy Saville, so creepy. And sometimes a man strutting around like that in places like swimming pools, with a lot of children and women around. Ordinary shorts are fine, but I can't imagine any man dresses like your man at the netball accidentally.

Disfordarkchocolate · 28/02/2020 21:08

He knows and he's a pervert. Someone needs to tell him to pack it in.

gonetoget · 28/02/2020 21:08

There’s a bloke at my gym that wears skimpy shirts to do yoga in. One time I was behind him in the class - boak. Who honestly wants to look at his hairy arse and tackle in them shorts.
Impressed at the Pilates instructor telling turquoise leggings man off, perhaps she could make it to my gym.

MissTheodore · 28/02/2020 21:10

He knew exactly how exposed he was.

mrscampbellblackagain · 28/02/2020 21:11

I saw his cock in outline in I guess what I would describe as parachute silk - to give an idea of the weight of the material of his shorts. So it was a pretty clear outline but not in its full glory.

Maybe that's fine for some people. If it was just adults I would just be a bit hmmm. But it was the fact it was a tournament for 10 year old girls and games staff who have been doing these things for donkeys years also thought it was inappropriate.

Perhaps he is from the Southern Hemisphere - more likely to be year-round short wearers.

Or eccentric - present in greater numbers at independents.

mrscampbellblackagain · 28/02/2020 21:14

Most of the male spectators were in jeans, large coats and a flat cap.

To be fair, I was mostly hoping to see a Beckham Wink

There were also very clear guidelines in the programme for behaviour of spectators in terms of commentary etc - perhaps they need to introduce a dress code Wink no visible outlines of penises, camel toes, nipples etc

You're in Australia and it's snowing in February? Confused Is this netball tournament being held on the top of Mount Wellington?

SchadenfreudePersonified · 28/02/2020 21:19

He knew.

He certainly did know.

Dirty bugger!

GinnyStrupac · 28/02/2020 21:19

Ah, so you wouldn't be complaining if it was a Beckham body part outline?!

eeehbyegum · 28/02/2020 21:22

I think seeing the outline of his penis but not the flesh puts you in a difficult position to tackle (no pun intended)

There used to be a guy in local bars in the summer that was very well endowed and his penis would hang out of his shorts When he sat down. He knew, he was told, and he kept doing the same so clearly wanted this exposure.

These 2 situations are a bit different.

Do you feel he knows what he looks like? If you do, I’d take him to one side and say quite forcefully that what’s he’s wearing is inappropriate and he can’t turn up wearing similar again. If it looks like a genuine over sight, then id be quite gentle in my approach, with a similar message. You’ll see if he looks aghast/ embarrassed or not as to his intentions.

If he’s genuinely turning up trying to sexually show off his assests , then he’s has peado tendancies right?

Maverick101 · 28/02/2020 21:24

If it was that cold I would assume his penis would have shrunk to the size of a peanut -- maybe you were all looking at a spare pair of socks.

mrscampbellblackagain · 28/02/2020 21:24

Ginny, even if it was David Beckham I would have thought his attire was inappropriate.

Honestly, I am not a prude. This is not my first rodeo so to speak, this is my youngest of three children. I have never seen anything like if before at a fixture.

I honestly believe or at least hope it was unintentional but I guess what I am wondering is at what point does someone say 'mate, I can see your penis outline, put it way'.

A few people on her seem to want to suggest it was my issue and maybe they are right.

Maybe it is fault of atheisurewear! Gym clothes are gym clothes and should not be worn outside of the exercise zone. I don't know the answer.

mrscampbellblackagain · 28/02/2020 21:27

For context as well, the netball coach from our school has been doing this for 20 years. I can't imagine the number of fixtures she has attended. If she thought it was inappropriate and odd, well I am going to bow down to her judgement. Of course it also happens to agree with mine [wink[

I believe you, mrsc Wink

mrscampbellblackagain · 28/02/2020 21:28

@GinnyStrupac was hoping for a glimpse of vicki b to be fair! she looks way more fun than david.

can you leave an anonymous note under his windscreen wiper?

'Dear Man in short-shorts. You look like a Jimmy Saville type. We are watching you, signed, The Mums'.

BitOfFun · 28/02/2020 21:31

You don't know him, you don't need to feel embarrassed: approach him and say that it might be an idea to wrap up warm next week, as his shorts are showing exactly how cold it is, if he knows what you mean. And it isn't a great idea in front of such young girls. Cheerybye now!

mrscampbellblackagain · 28/02/2020 21:32

He did drive a large black range rover with private plates Grin

No comment on that at all obviously.
