Inappropriate clothing at a netball tournament - one of the fathers that is!

So, watching a netball tournament this week and to be fair the weather was very windy. One of the fathers turned up wearing very lightweight shorts, so lightweight than when the wind blew, well lets just say I had a really good knowledge of his anatomy.

Now this was a tournament for yr 6 girls. Friends and I were literally crying with laughter and not quite sure where to look.

Lo and behold, at an even bigger tournament the next day and there he was again in the same or identical shorts (it had snowed in the morning in case anyone is wondering I I am in Australia).

So, the games staff from my DC's school felt he was dressed extremely inappropriately and so did I. But would anyone have actually said anything? Is it possible he was just oblivious?

There was no camel toe for the women watching - they were all in long coats. It was 4 hours in the cold.

Golly, this does explain why I didn't say anything though.

@mrscampbellblackagain
Damn, you beat me to it, that was the first thing I thought of too!
"This is a family place. Put the mouse back in the house."
That should sort him lol Grin

Misandei
there are enough photos of her various underwear in public engagements, feel free to google if you feel like it. It's not a faux pas when it happens more than once twice when it happens several times. Smile

There are plenty of other celebrities in similar "dress malfunction" Grin - Liz Hurley as a wedding guest comes to mind - but I chose Kate as she is the most formal.

Fresh air...

mrscampbellblackagain · 28/02/2020 20:32

Maybe the rights of people to wear whatever they want do trump the rights of other people.

I am conflicted.

I also totally get the women wearing tight lycra argument, I wear lycra to do spin and walk back to my car in said lycra.

I'd rather be told, it would be hugely embarrassing but not as embarrassing as finding out that everyone knew and nobody said anything.

We've no full length mirrors in our house. DH was always scared of full length mirrors as a child and still finds them very creepy, so we only have a bathroom mirror and a small mirror on my dressing table, so DH would never have seen that his shorts were so... sheer.

JustInCaseCakeHappens · 28/02/2020 20:33

Let's be honest, how many females have you seen wearing see-through leggings instead of trousers and next to nothing underneath Envy. Definitively not envy.

Always a charming site when you stuck on an escalator or something. Why do people do that?

JustInCaseCakeHappens · 28/02/2020 20:33

*sight

deydododatdodontdeydo · 28/02/2020 20:33

As inappropriate as a woman wearing tight clothing at a sports event.

Exactly, those women in the tight tops where you can see the outline of their boobs - they know exactly what they're doing...

mrscampbellblackagain · 28/02/2020 20:35

To be fair, there were no women in tops showing off their boobs yesterday - it was cold! There was a plethora of Canada goose though Wink

It was at a school where to be fair you could expect to do some serious celeb spotting.

Pretty sure on here that there a lot of parents who spend a lot of time watching sports fixtures. There are distinct looks varying on schools, I guess I just haven't encountered this specific look before Wink

Didn’t know netball was played outdoors in winter...

Puzzledandpissedoff · 28/02/2020 20:40

Given how cold it was, I'm frankly just impressed there was anything to see .... best hope he doesn't wear the same shorts on a hot but windy day Wink

mrscampbellblackagain · 28/02/2020 20:44

Netball is spring term so lots of outdoor netball in jan/feb. Very cold to watch!

@Antsdec 😂😂😂😂

mrscampbellblackagain · 28/02/2020 20:47

To be clear, I am being slightly light hearted. I really don't think he was doing it for thrills but it was however inappropriate.

In the same way as a mum rocking up a summer cricket match in a cropped lycra top and cut off shorts would be. Although am I wrong to say that?

I just feel that school sports matches are not the places for revealing clothes from spectators. I need to sign up for amish school don't I?

@fascinated did you not grow up in the UK? Baltic cold winter with rock hard balls being thrown at your blue stiff fingers, where you can't even run with the sodding ball too keep warm epitomises PE lessons for me.

Thisismytimetoshine · 28/02/2020 20:53

So his own Year 6 daughter was playing? She must be so mortified that her Dad is a figure of fun to the entire crowd. What possessed him??

mrscampbellblackagain · 28/02/2020 20:53

Watching all these matches makes me very glad I am not at school any more Grin

OP posts:
fascinated · 28/02/2020 20:54

No chance of me being picked for any netball team! I do remember v cold hockey, mind you.

GinnyStrupac · 28/02/2020 20:56

At least he is supporting. It's usually just a few hardy regulars once the weather turns, IME.

I wonder how his daughter feels, especially if people are sniggering, including the staff.

I marginally prefer the shorts to one mum who turned up in a full-length fur coat at one fixture.

Misandei · 28/02/2020 20:57

@JustInCaseCakeHappens I've had a look and yes she has been caught by the wind a bit, HOWEVER, there's a big difference between wearing a normal dress blown up by the wind, and what OP is describing, extremely lightweight material of the shorts meant everything was very clearly outlined in her own words. He is also known to wear what's described as "running tights", so this clearly is a man intent on being an exhibitionist.

mrscampbellblackagain · 28/02/2020 20:57

Yeap, his own yr 6 daughter is playing and he is apparently the talk of his own school but no one will actually say anything. Because everyone is too polite or as is evidenced on here fears he will say it is them being a creep.

However, give his DD another year or two and she will become more vocal Grin

Maybe I should have just offered him a dryrobe and said he looked a little chilly Wink

OP posts:
fascinated · 28/02/2020 20:57

Ooh, a fur coat. Now the reactions to that WOULD be interesting to watch.

mrscampbellblackagain · 28/02/2020 20:59

It is good he was supporting - that is true! It was a big tournament on Thursday so were lots of parents watching. Actually, I am always amazed at how many parents there are watching sports fixtures on a Wednesday afternoon.
