Well? What do you think?

Best roasties ever? Pic included!

Thehop · 28/02/2020 18:05

I think they look a bit undercooked and greasy, but I’m sure they taste great.

22Giraffes · 28/02/2020 18:05

Now I want roasties Sad

faracrossthepond · 28/02/2020 18:05

@Alsohuman

They look lovely, OP, ignore the pps who wouldn’t know a good roastie if they fell over it.

People are entitled to opinions that aren't the same as yours (or the OP's) .. Saying 'ignore the posters saying they're not great.' is very dismissive and patronising and rude.

They look undercooked and soggy to me, and not very appetising, and others have a similar opinion. No-one is 'wrong..' It's called an opinion dear... Wink

BaolFan · 28/02/2020 18:06

I like really fluffy and crispy roasties. The trick is using the right potatoes. I like red skinned potatoes, par-boiled. Give them a good shake in the saucepan with a tablespoon of plain flour to coat and bash them up. Then onto a tray of smoking hot vegetable oil for about 40 mins at 200 degrees, turning occasionally. Never fails.

TanquerayTickles · 28/02/2020 18:07

They're not roughed up or crispy enough for me. Good effort though, I'd still eat them!

ScribblyGum · 28/02/2020 18:07

I would gladly eat them and would almost certainly enjoy them but my perfect roastie has a more jagged appearance. I want MORE surface area because that = more fat and more crunchy potato wonderfulness mouthfeel.

ShirleyPhallus · 28/02/2020 18:08

Can’t believe how salty some of these replies are on the first page of a thread about roast potatoes Grin

Shoppingwithmother · 28/02/2020 18:09

I don’t really understand why you’re asking this. They don’t LOOK anything wonderful, no. They look a bit soggy and greasy- not crispy or brown enough.

They might taste really good (eg if they look greasy because they taste completely of beef fat that’s another matter), but we can’t taste them.

So no, they do not look like the “best roasties ever.”

Sunshineand · 28/02/2020 18:10

They look cold.

managedmis · 28/02/2020 18:11

I knew you'd love them

Grin

They look undercooked and soggy to

^^Shock

Yes, I shake them in the pan before and yes, loads of veg oil. Also added too much salt, hubba hubba

Some nice colour in places, but they look too oily for me - dab them with kitchen towel?

faracrossthepond · 28/02/2020 18:12

@ShirleyPhallus

'People are being salty.'

And soggy and cold and sloppy - like the OP's roast tatties. Grin

happymummy12345 · 28/02/2020 18:12

I hate crispy roast potatoes so the outside looks perfect for me. But the inside doesn't look done enough at all

Ellisandra · 28/02/2020 18:12

Just looked at the voting.

Your potatoes got roasted Wink

Lazypuppy · 28/02/2020 18:13

Need to be much crispier!

Igmum · 28/02/2020 18:14

Would need to taste them 😋😋 (please 😀)

AlexaAmbidextra · 28/02/2020 18:14

They look lovely. I think some people criticise just for the sake of it. I’m having roasties tonight.

B0bbin · 28/02/2020 18:14

Mmmmmmm

Chewbecca · 28/02/2020 18:20

Obvs I would eat them but I think they could be fluffier. Do you use King Eds? They give the fluffiest roastie IMO.

BobbyBlueCat · 28/02/2020 18:21

I prefer them more 'well-done' on the outsides.

They look a bit too Aunt Bessie from the frozen department for me.

I'd still eat them though!

DustOffYourHighestHopes · 28/02/2020 18:24

Underdone and oily. My MIL likes to cook them this way too (miaow).

managedmis · 28/02/2020 18:24

Nope, @Chewbecca, maris piper spuds

If you choose to post on AIBU saying yours is best ever then expect criticism.

They look fine nothing special just average.

PositiveVibez · 28/02/2020 18:28

Too small. Too oily and not even on all sides. 7 on 10

KitKat1985 · 28/02/2020 18:28

They look nice, but need to be a bit crispier to be ultimate roasties. Sorry.
