Saw the horrific words
World book day
On a thread earlier, bought me out in a cold sweat Grin
People often talk about what they miss as their children grow up but as a parent of teens and adults I do not miss
Potty training
Weaning
World book day
PTA events
Broken sleep
Anyone else have things they don't miss 😂

Mine is only 11... but I'll admit that I miss him being smaller... none of your list has ever caused me any deep trauma... so maybe I'm missing something...

IrmaFayLear · 26/02/2020 12:58

Swimming lessons. The hours I sat slumped at the side of municipal pools. And fighting to get clothes on a damp body in a microscopic changing room whilst trying to avoid wading in the swampy verucca water sloshing in.

Bibidy · 26/02/2020 13:00

Wiping of arses that aren't my own!

kelper · 26/02/2020 13:00

The school run.
And not being able to reason with a toddler. I still have trouble reasoning with my 12 year old but at least he understands what I say now, even if he doesn't agree with it!

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 26/02/2020 13:04

Oh yes the school run
I probably walked to Mars and back over the years with the four of themGrin

OP posts:
Lllot5 · 26/02/2020 13:06

The washing of football kits.

Jojoanna · 26/02/2020 13:08

World book day, Victorian day any day that included dressing up at school

geordiema77 · 26/02/2020 13:09

Nursery fees

I know exactly how much we've spent on fees for our 3 and when.you total it all up (thanks Excel!) it makes you weep when you think what that equates to ( new car, holidays, less years on the mortgage)

Waterandlemonjuice · 26/02/2020 13:09

I do not miss

Sleepless nights
Changing nappies
The monotony of toddlers
The school run
Arguments about homework
Early mornings

Flutteringsatlast · 26/02/2020 13:09

Having to lug a car seat about.
Having to strap a wriggling toddler in.
Changing bag the size of holiday luggage..

Echobelly · 26/02/2020 13:10

Carrying baby bag everywhere
Nappies
Knowing what's on Cbeebies
Having to take them with you to just pop out of the house for two minutes (we can now leave them in the house together for an hour or so during the day if needs be)
Going swimming with small, non- swimming kids. Hated it so much, total chore!

Echobelly · 26/02/2020 13:11

Oh god yeah, nursery fees. Nearly 1.2k per month with a piddling saving from vouchers.

DessertQueen · 26/02/2020 13:12

Any dressing up day. They were rare when I was a kid, and a treat. Now there’s some thing everyone other week and even the kids got fed up halfway through primary. I really think schools need to scale back these ‘extra’ events. I also think it would be better if fundraising efforts for anything other than school funds should be limited to one charity per year and just one big event for it.

Womenwotlunch · 26/02/2020 13:16

Nursery fees
World bloody Book Day
Sports Day
Monthly Show and Tell
Competitive reading books ( Biff and Chip)
Swimming lessons
Double buggy
Potty training

ChickLitLover · 26/02/2020 13:18

My youngest finishes primary this year so no more dress up days. I always laughed when the school would say, don’t buy anything, just use things you already have at home and then put a photo of a Victorian child/Mayan usually from a fancy dress online shop etc.... my kids live in jeans or sportswear and never had a thing that I could possibly make look ok.

SheisMammyof2 · 26/02/2020 13:18

Sleepless nights
Potty training
School lunches
Homework
Having to plan, shop for and cook a bloody dinner every single day!!!

LuckyLuckyWoman · 26/02/2020 13:19

Mums taxi
teenage drama

Both adults, living in different cities, with great jobs and their own homes #pmm

CheeseCakeSunflowers · 26/02/2020 13:21

Spending 10 minutes just getting out of a car with the buggy, toddler, nappy change bag, almost setting off then remembering the baby. I am now one of those who parks, grabs bag, locks car and goes.

Iwantacookie · 26/02/2020 13:21

Having a car/doll rammed up my nose at 5am on the weekend.
Packing a bag to nip to the shop.
Nappies.

AryaStarkWolf · 26/02/2020 13:23

Not being able to decide to go anywhere on the spur of the moment without having to get babysitters organised etc

MurrayTheMonk · 26/02/2020 13:23

Getting up every morning between 4 and 5. Mine did this til they were about 7 and it was draining.

billy1966 · 26/02/2020 13:26

I clearly remember the day all of my children were able to hop into the car and strap themselves in. Great day.

I swear my back was wrecked for a long time from constantly doing that awkward movement.

My husband and I always stayed at training/practice/coaching....just in case the needed us or got injured.....exhausting and often went on for hours on Saturdays and sundays......not sad at all that we no longer feel it's necessary.

AcrossthePond55 · 26/02/2020 13:41

Mine are adults now, there's a whole lot more that I miss than don't miss! But that's life and the way the world turns.

We live rurally and what I didn't miss when they turned 16 and got their licenses was driving them all over the world and back. It was so nice to be able to just wave them off from the porch (with 1000 admonitions about driving safely). And no more AM school runs once DS1 turned 16 as he was able to drop DS2 off on his way.

Squidgoals · 26/02/2020 13:42

Them saying 'mummy' and then not saying what they've got to say until you've actually responded with, 'yes, child A?' Every time they speak. It was exhausting

Buying school shoes in Clark's. The bloody waiting, the arguing over styles, the shop not having the right size, UGH

Zisforstripyoss · 26/02/2020 13:44

Explodapoos / car seat poos
Peppa fucking pig
Taking the changing bag everywhere

I can't wait until swimming lessons are done too!
