Saw the horrific words
World book day
On a thread earlier, bought me out in a cold sweat Grin
People often talk about what they miss as their children grow up but as a parent of teens and adults I do not miss
Potty training
Weaning
World book day
PTA events
Broken sleep
Anyone else have things they don't miss 😂

OP posts:
WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 26/02/2020 17:26

Teething
Toddler Groups
Mr Men Books !
School runs
Hearing "Mum mum mum" over and over and over

There are probably more but these stand out

dancemom · 26/02/2020 18:40

Dd used to dance competitively when she was younger (hence the user name!)

I do not miss the hours and hours sat at the studio, the Sundays given up for exams, the weekends away for competitions...

Don't miss it at all!

HoldMyLobster · 26/02/2020 18:43

Ohmygod the vomit.

I still can't decide which was worse - the time DD leaned over the side of her top bunk and threw up, or the time she tried to stop herself from throwing up (again in the top bunk) by putting her hand over her mouth.

Why are they always in the top bunk when they hurl?

BoredOfTheBoard · 26/02/2020 18:46

The school gate cliques
Swimming lessons
Mu-u-u-um all the time
Sleepless nights. Could not do that now
Sleepovers
Sponsor forms home from school
I may be a grumpy old woman Grin

Parent's evening! Got my last one tomorrow night. Literally cannot wait...

Verily1 · 26/02/2020 19:03

Nappies
Sick
Smells
Night feeding
Bed wetting
Dressing
Bathing
Buggies
Food mess

Catapillarsruletheworld · 26/02/2020 19:04

Nappies and then the following wet pants during potty training.
Moaning toddlers
Running off in the supermarket.
Sleepless nights
Having to lug half your house around with you every time you went out.

janemaster · 26/02/2020 19:10

Breastfeeding

janemaster · 26/02/2020 19:12

And why does, why is, why, why, why.

SpeedofaSloth · 26/02/2020 19:12

Sleep deprivation. I thought my youngest was trying to kill me, I swear.

Xylophonics · 26/02/2020 19:15

The sudden need to find a toilet - fond memories of running after DC while they clutch their bum.
Soft play centres.
Play dates.

I do miss World Book Day though.

mumto2teenagers · 26/02/2020 19:16

Being their taxi driver
Hours sitting in various venues while they do activities
Lunchboxes
Head lice

Bluewavescrashing · 26/02/2020 19:17

I also don't miss

Potty training in general.
Baby refusing to nap.
Baby spitting out dummy and losing it, then wanting it.
Early evening grizzles.
Being too wired to sleep with a newborn.
Running out of nappies on a cross channel ferry and the poo explosions.
Signing bloody forms for calpol at nursery.
Nursery staff waffling on and on at me when I just want to get home.
Being in my house, in the vicinity of beds but not allowed to sleep.
Singing about sleepy bunnies at baby group and being so bloody tired.
Not bring able to open a packet of biscuits in peace.
Cancelling plans with friends because the children are ill AGAIN and not seeing any adults for a week.
Toddler waking at 5am and wanting Mr sodding Tumble.
Huge plastic monstrosities taking over my lounge, the relentless migraine inducing music. All helpfully bought by relatives and charity shopped as soon as possible.
Trying to go to more than one shop in a day with a toddler.
Patronising baby group leaders saying, 'this isn't childcare, join in with your babies' when they are happily exploring and you just want to have a chat with a friend.
Cold, undrunk coffee.
Blending food, sterilising pots, freezing cubes of it, defrosting and reheating it for it to be thrown on the floor.
Washing up bottles x1000000000 times.
Baby drinking a full bottle of milk and projectile vomiting all over itself and me. The warm, seeping feeling of milk sinking through my clothes and not knowing who to clean up first.
Tiny little gloves or mittens that get lost. Ditto socks coming off.
The palaver of getting the pram out of the car.
Toddler sick on a car seat.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 26/02/2020 19:18

Mine is nearly 7 so still at the world book day and parents evening stage, but I'm incredibly glad we are past the toddler, potty training and sleepless night stage.

Darbs76 · 26/02/2020 19:20

Mine are 26,15 and 12 now. I don’t miss:

World book day
Inset days (all grouped in 1wk now)
Having to book holiday clubs in school hols
Carrying a changing bag / buggy / wipes
Having to organise a babysitter to do anything

I’m freeeeeeeee! Been a long time coming

thistimelastweek · 26/02/2020 19:24

Playfuckingdoh

Louloubelle78 · 26/02/2020 19:26

Two words...soft play

Parky04 · 26/02/2020 19:28

Football coaching. After 12 years this is the final season! In the main, it's been enjoyable, but I'm looking forward to doing something else on a Tuesday and Saturday!

DressingGownofDoom · 26/02/2020 19:31

'Genuine question: what's wrong with soft play? When mine were little it seemed to be the only time they were happy, satisfied, doing something that was good for them (exercise) and not demanding attention. Why don't other people like it?'

Because other people's children are there Blush

DingleberryRose · 26/02/2020 19:40

Glad I’m skipping it all to be honest! Can barely look after myself without feeling exhausted! Confused

Sparklingbrook · 26/02/2020 19:41

@Parky04, you have reminded me of the summer tournaments. Football and sunstroke. Pitching up for the day with gazebo and picnic chairs, the more they won the longer you had to stay.

I do not miss those at all. Grin
