Saw the horrific words
World book day
On a thread earlier, bought me out in a cold sweat Grin
People often talk about what they miss as their children grow up but as a parent of teens and adults I do not miss
Potty training
Weaning
World book day
PTA events
Broken sleep
Anyone else have things they don't miss 😂

Def don't miss Mr Tumble...

AlpineSnow · 26/02/2020 13:59

Pulling things out of drawers, being on the go constantly and running you ragged. The lack of sleep. The school run. Worrying about kids being mean at primary school. Secondary school (the local comp) has been much better and they mostly get themselves there themselves. Eldest will be 16 this year and I've enjoyed the teenage years so far. You love them to bits when they are little and they are cute but hard work!

FizzyIce · 26/02/2020 13:59

My youngest is 8 so still in the hell of world book days , Red Nose Day / children in need shudder I will not miss those but also wiping bums and lugging around a pushchair

AlpineSnow · 26/02/2020 14:00

I do miss Come Outside with Auntie Mabel and Pippin on Cbeebies!

Sidge · 26/02/2020 14:00

Soft play.

Never again. Ever.

Bellesavage · 26/02/2020 14:02

Wiping, wiping bums, faces, tables, walls.
Drinking cups being everywhere, they all leak and the lids are usually missing

FizzyIce · 26/02/2020 14:04

@AlpineSnow Pippin was so cute.
I still sing the song Blush

Phillipa12 · 26/02/2020 14:07

Nappies
Toilet training
Weaning/high chairs and stair gates
Toddler groups
Buggies
Helping them get dressed and putting shoes on.
The biggest milestone my youngest has yet to reach, which im really excited about is being able to reach the light switches. Nothing worse on a weekend morning hearing youngest shout that he needs a wee but the light isnt on....

timeforawine · 26/02/2020 14:08

I think the only thing i won't miss is the need to find a babysitter and the 6:30am wake up calls.
The rest i do miss, as sad as that sounds, she's 3.5, i'm dreading her starting school, i'll be a wreck Sad

redwoodmazza · 26/02/2020 14:15

Mine's now 27!!!
One thing I don't miss - THE BLOODY SCHOOL RUN!
3 different schools.

MrsHusky · 26/02/2020 14:16

isseywith4vampirecats · 26/02/2020 14:19

the having to take them everywhere
the washing as in school clothes and out of school clothes
the having to buy loads of crap birthday party presents over the year

SnowyPetals · 26/02/2020 14:20

Stair gates
Putting on other people's shoes for them
Snot

SnowyPetals · 26/02/2020 14:21

Oh, and party bags

dogrilla · 26/02/2020 14:21

Putting on shoes which are then kicked off
Reading bear hunt
Singing wind the bobbin up in toddler groups

ShesGotBetteDavisEyes · 26/02/2020 14:23

Pushing a pram (especially uphill) and having to constantly fold/unfold it to put in car often trapping my fingers in the process
Soft play type activities
Kids parties (especially ones at a soft play on a Sunday morning)
Putting away entire cupboards/ Toy boxes full of things that had been pulled out for the 50th time that day
YY having terrible kids tv shows on constantly
Scrambling around on the floor after mealtimes picking up mashed potato/spaghetti and having to wipe up at least one spilled drink each mealtime
Getting woken up too early
Having to have eyes in the back of your head

But, in a funny way I miss it all because I loved it when they were little Sad

Growingboys · 26/02/2020 14:23

Having to deal with other mums you wouldn't have to deal with in non-parent life.

pasanda · 26/02/2020 14:24

Washing their hair and de-nitting if necessary. DT's went to secondary school in September and I've not seen a nit since then! Smile

notangelinajolie · 26/02/2020 14:24

Homework
Arranging birthday parties
Sleepovers

Good one! When youngest finishes primary in a couple years I will do a silent cheer as I leave the playground knowing I will probably never see the majority of those people again. Cannot wait!!

Sparklingbrook · 26/02/2020 14:29

Everything school related especially

Projects involving trip to Hobbycraft, and junior school homework in general.
High School parents' evenings
The school run ( i only had two children but did it for 8 years which is plenty), and associated competitive parenting while waiting outside.
Soft play especially combined with a birthday party.

formerbabe · 26/02/2020 14:32

Mine are 9 and 12 but things I'm happy to see the back of...

Early mornings...they sleep till about 8.30 now on weekends and just get up and watch tv so I have lie ins again

Buggies and prams...went shopping by myself recently and whilst walking through the car park I saw a woman putting a travel system together...I was so happy to get in my car and just drive off.

Soft play...eldest is too old for it now and my 9 year old hates it anyway

Having a handbag full of crap...no need anymore for wetwipes, spare outfits, etc

I love my dc getting older...no idea why so many women are so upset by it. It's a little bitter sweet but overall it's fab.

Can't wait to say goodbye to the school run and the horrible cliquey mums

tiggerkid · 26/02/2020 14:33

I've long forgotten everything about having a very young child but I can definitely say I don't miss nappies, potty training, sleepless nights and early mornings! I still get up before 6 am for work but at least I now don't have to get up at 5 am on Saturdays to watch cartoons!

FreeButtonBee · 26/02/2020 14:34

putting on and taking off shoes, socks, coats, hats, gloves, jumpers... Endless...
playdoh
all-class parties

redwoodmazza · 26/02/2020 14:36
