Silly things that make you emotional for no reason

About 6 months ago driving along with car full of my daughter and her friends and Shotgun by George Ezra came on radio. Kids were all singing along at top of their voices and I did think at the time it was a lovely moment- but just heard it again today and remembered kids singing along and it made me get really emotional and properly cry. Really odd 😂

There's a children's book called 'theres an ouch in my pouch' and the ending of that gets me every time.

That was one of DS's favourite books when he was little. There was one called The Little Reindeer - I could barely manage to read it by the end.

Mumoftwoyoungkids · 27/02/2020 17:10

Kids doing triathlons. Particularly kids who are not very good at them.

There is something about an exhausted 8 year old, coming last but still determined just to finish trudging up a hill that gets me every time.

littlepeas · 27/02/2020 17:10

The opening of in the night garden when the stars turn to flowers! Loads of other stupid stuff too, but that’s probably the most embarrassing!

Abitofanexpert · 27/02/2020 17:11

YY to crowds watching things. The marathon used to pass my old house and I'd watch with sunglasses on sobbing away Confused I still cry even if it's just on TV. DH thinks it's mad

mnthrowaway202020 · 27/02/2020 17:14

Wherever there’s an emotional scene on a film/show where the actor is crying, I begin to get a little bit teary😂 as in slight eye watering, even if I have no idea what’s actually happening in the show

gingergiraffe · 27/02/2020 17:16

Every time at the cinema when the advert with the refugee children on a bomb site starts. They sing that song, ‘ Always thinking of you and sad that you’re not there....’ and they disappear one by none. Gets me crying every time and I have been to the cinema a lot recently!

elephantoverthehill · 27/02/2020 17:17

HighlyUnlikely I just sob all the way through 'The Railway Children'. ExDH rang my Mum one Christmas whilst I was watching it as he thought I might be ill.

Possiblynotever · 27/02/2020 17:18

Every time I take a long hot shower I always think of people with no access to running water and I get emotional for the luxury I have

SingingSands · 27/02/2020 17:30

Similar to your story, OP. My DD has a bunch of photos stuck up on her bedroom wall of a day spent with her gang last summer, when they spent a day hanging out together in a field, just being carefree teenagers. There's something about the youthful innocence, long grass and summer sunshine that just makes me teary when I see them!

Tiredandold1 · 27/02/2020 17:35

Kindness. Of any kind.

My DD decided she wanted a Sainsbury’s Lego sticker book when they’d stopped making them and a lovely kind lady searched high and low in the storeroom to find one AND gave me loads of free stickers. I blubbed all the way home.

And ‘The Paper Dolls’ by Julia Donaldson.

SimonJT · 27/02/2020 17:38

Any time my rugby team win a game, the Bingham cup is going to be traumatic.

I donated at an illegal blood bank before xmas, I cried when I got home because of the sheer number of people donating.

Generally when my son achieves something.

RedRedWines · 27/02/2020 17:44

Reading guess how much I love you to my baby and also the pampers premature baby size advert.

Cheesymonster · 27/02/2020 17:47

I only have to think about a war veteran named Harry who has appeared on BBC breakfast TV and I will start sobbing.

In fact elderly men in general if I start to think of how they may be alone. More so since I recently lost my Dad.

BitOfFun · 27/02/2020 17:50

That advert where people get up a thread dawn to see the black horses on the beach. Every time.

Houseworkavoider · 27/02/2020 17:51

@SimonJT
What is an illegal blood bank?

fulltimeworkingmotherof4 · 27/02/2020 17:52

Seeing my nephew, he's 12 now but his mum (my sister) died when he was 9. Always makes me secretly cry when I'm with him. He's doing great, but just makes me sad he doesn't have a mum anymore 😭

KellyHall · 27/02/2020 17:54

Not reading the small print, then finding out it was really important! I'm so annoyed at myself when it happens and yet I still think I haven't got time for it. I used to get angry but I'm so exhausted all the time these days, I just cry now.

Naive101 · 27/02/2020 17:55

The book I used to read both my boys, it was called ‘il love you forever’ I read it again the other day to my youngest still makes me blub!

TitanicWasAGreatMovie · 27/02/2020 18:00

Football crowds, or really any crowds of people singing.

Someone up thread said Gogglebox, I get emotional watching them getting emotional about stuff I have also watched and was also emotional about when i watched it Grin

Herocomplex · 27/02/2020 18:01

Ah fulltime that’s just made me cry. I’m so sorry for your and his ongoing loss, I hope he’s surrounded by love.

Zoidbergonthehalfshell · 27/02/2020 18:03

I used to play music with my DD and DS when they were younger - they played drums and lead guitar, I was bass and vocals. We used to have a lovely time. They've grown up and moved on now. I keep the bass propped up in a corner of the living room, and I plugged it in and had a go at one of the songs we used to play the other day.

I had to give up. I couldn't see the music for the tears in my eyes.

MsTSwift · 27/02/2020 18:05

Carols. I am hopeless at Christmas
The dads speech at weddings. Abit awkward but often very loving
Worst is kids first days at school. When dd1 started I pretended to be all jolly then ran home and sobbed.

MsTSwift · 27/02/2020 18:07

People are kind thoug. I lost my purse recently totally my own fault. A stranger handed it in. The bus driver gave us a free ticket home. The lady in the cafe knocked a third off as “we were having a bad day”. Lovely lesson for the kids that day

JoyceDivision · 27/02/2020 18:12

The baa-ber shop version of everyday feels like summer from the Shaun the sheep movie Blush

Spritesobright · 27/02/2020 18:15

Children singing together. And yy to watching children compete in a race. Their little determined faces!
