Harvey Weinstein guilty (just a little bit...)

yolofish · 24/02/2020 21:57

I am absolutely delighted that HW has been found guilty, even if not enough guilty.

I hope he goes to prison for what he has done.

My AIBU is what happens to the other men in Hollywood who are raping left right and centre? Do they get followed up, or is it a case of picking off the tallest flowers first?

I wonder if Weinstein’s friends and admirers such as Meryl Streep, Hilary Clinton and Michele Obama will stand by him?

longwayoff · 27/02/2020 22:36

Item on R4 right now about Polanski and his latest film, 11 award nominations in France for his latest film, ( "J'accuse" , would you believe?). He believes he's been unfairly persecuted for years since he drugged and raped a 13 year old child in USA. Poor Roman, can't go back to USA as he'll be locked up along side Harvey.

Mrsjayy · 28/02/2020 07:56

I read something where Polanski is claiming he was suffering trauma and grief at the time of raping and drugging a child!

longwayoff · 29/02/2020 08:28

And he's just won Best Director for the above film. Well done, France.

Patroclus · 29/02/2020 08:45

Awww im worried about whats going to happen to his zimmer frame whilst hes inside. Hope it gets a good forever home.

Patroclus · 29/02/2020 08:50

It does always seem to be in France Polanski is given a pass.

Rezie · 29/02/2020 08:55

I still find it baffling why Roman Polanski gets a standing ovation and then Kevin spacey and all others are persecuted (as they should)

Rezie · 29/02/2020 09:09

Polanski is claiming he was suffering trauma

I'm living in Krakovian ghetto during ww2 leaves scars. I'm sure parents being killed in auchwiz is horrendous. I cannot imagine what it's like to have wife and unborn child murdered in your own house. But I still cannot understand how that excuses drugging and raping a child and the fleeing the country to avoid jail time.

I actually read that in 2018 he was expelled from the academy. So they are a being slightly consistent at least. Anyway, I've read the victim is hoping this whole thing would go away so I should probably leave it aswell.

Rezie · 29/02/2020 09:10

Ugh... not I'm living but I'm sure* living.

corduroyal · 29/02/2020 09:32

I'm sure the Zimmer frame is malingering too, but I think any frames or walking sticks etc are confiscated when you go into prison as they could be used as weapons.

He apparently had a car accident last summer and needs the frame and eye injections to avoid blindness. Probably a set up to give him a shot of staying out of prison.

Patroclus · 29/02/2020 09:54

I especially liked the tennis ballls added to it to make him look extra pathetic

boatyardblues · 29/02/2020 14:35

Or maybe to stop it marking the marble floors in his mansion...

user1958532689654 · 29/02/2020 14:48

I'm not sure this changes as much as I wish it would. Or changes anything.

EachandEveryone · 29/02/2020 16:13

I wonder if his wife knew?

longwayoff · 29/02/2020 16:21

Everyone knew.

DonKeyshot · 29/02/2020 17:02

As far as I'm aware, Weinstein is yet to spend a night behind bars as he's being held as an inpatient at a Manhattan hospital following his alleged collapse on his way to jail.

He'll be sentenced on March 10 when he'll should be looking at 5-26 years incarceration, but if he manages to evade Reikers until that date who knows what he'll get

yolofish · 04/03/2020 21:58

Is he still in hospital in Manhattan, or has he been transferred for the LA trial?

Don't forget the plenty of women in Hollywood who are culpable in the whole shebang.

longwayoff · 04/03/2020 22:39

It's part of the culture. This will be the usual storm in a teacup then it will be back to business as usual. Very depressing.

DonKeyshot · 05/03/2020 05:08

At the time of writing Weinstein is still in hospital where he is said to be 'stir crazy'.

longwayoff · 05/03/2020 12:12

Let's hope he has to get used to that.

yolofish · 05/03/2020 12:39

stir crazy? what a shame... presumably because no one can bring him a constant flow of young women. I hope he has male nurses.

It has been reported that Weinstein had a stent fitted on Wednesday and is 'on his way' to Rikers.

Whether he arrives or spends any time in a jail cell before his appearance for sentencing next Tuesday remains to be seen.

Tonka2 · 06/03/2020 06:25

Glad he's gone to jail. Thought he might get off actually, I though Jessica Mann did more harm than good as a prosecution witness.

longwayoff · 06/03/2020 22:24

Hachette, US publisher of Rowan Farrow, had agreed to publish Woody Allen's memoir in April. After protests from Rowan and Dylan, his sister, staff walked out and the book won't be published now. Good. He should be keeping Harvey company in prison.
