AIBU?

To think the male American Airlines passenger punching the reclined seat should be charged with assault if legally possible.

I have watched the video of the man continually punching the seat occupied by Wendi Williams who had positioned it to recline. I am totally appalled that she was not given assistance when she drew the flight attendants attention to her predicament. This mans behaviour was totally unacceptable. I find it hard to fathom his behaviour and really feel a bit disturbed by it. I don't think he would have acted this way had it been a man in front... Am I being unfair in thinking this?

He's not being aggressive at all, he's just wobbling the seat. I wish I was brave enough to do this to inconsiderate passengers like her!

I don't blame her personally for calling this out on social media.

Seriously how can you look at his demeanour and facial expression and say he wasn't being aggressive?

Him being male has nothing to do with it. Female passengers get just as pissed off with selfish twats that recline just because they can.

People need these comfyplane.com/product/airplane-seat-stopper-prevent-recline/

Seriously how can you look at his demeanour and facial expression and say he wasn't being aggressive?

Bit of a reach there.

Shock horror person is unhappy when thoughtless twat reclines their seat in front while they are trying to use their table.

Says she had bad headaches, needed xray, had time off work

She's a cheating chancer that wants free stuff/compo. Absolute bollocks she had xrays, headaches and time off.

A woman sat behind me on a plane kept kick and pushing my (upright) seat. Initially I thought it was accidental and then realised it seemed to be happening every time I moved.

I have restless leg syndrome so probably move more than average but nothing out of the ordinary. I moved a couple of time deliberately to test my theory and sure enough she gave my seat a big shove at every movement.

I turned round and asked what she was doing.

'You shouldn't be moving so much and then I wouldn't have to.' she responded. 'And I'm nearly 60, I shouldn't have to put up with it'.
I told her it was my seat and I would move when I wanted and every time she shoved my seat I would move even more. I could hear her grumbling to her husband but not what she was saying but she did stop.

She utilised the recline seat functionality. Yes that's annoying but totally permitted by the airline. And the seat punching was a proxy for punching her. His aggression was directed to her

This. His behaviour was appalling.

The female passenger was sitting in a seat which reclined. She reclined it. You can judge her "kindness" for doing so, but what he did was proxy assault.

This thread reminds me of the one about kids playing Peppa Pig on the train without earphones. Why can't people just consider their fellow passengers?
Airplane woman was selfish and inconsiderate. Man overreacted. Both of them should grow up.

@Khione. Quite if you're that special that you feel you have the right to aggressively dictate and try to control the behaviour of the passenger in front of you then perhaps economy air travel isn't for you.

I'm flabbergasted at how many people find this bullying mans behaviour ok.

I bet you wouldn't be flabbergasted if it was a woman behind wobbling the seat of a man that reclined. Then it would be all 'that poor woman had no choice, she had no space the man was a selfish arse*

Assault? Really?!!!

It is NOT inconsiderate to recline your seat!! It is a perfectly normal thing to do and ppl need to get over it!! When ever I recline or sit up I check the persons tray behind me to ensure there’s nothing that will spill!! There’s ways of being considerate whilst getting comfy!!! Length of flight is neither here nor there!!!

Totally agree with people who allow their kids to blare out sounds from their devices but you can't use threatening behaviour because something irritates you.

She knew what she was doing. She was smirking while filming.

She was looking to irritate him and then take him to court.

People lose a lot of common sense at altitude.

Personally I think the seat reclining mechanisms and the overhead lockers should be controlled by the crew. No one needs to recline a seat on a short haul flight, and certainly not if the person behind is eating/drinking. And it really pisses me off when people keep getting up to rummage in their bags overhead. I got hit by a book once, and the guy barely apologised. Next time he got up, I stood up and said I didn't feel safe underneath him.... he wasn't impressed but cabin crew did tell him to get his bag out and leave it out as he was like a bloody jack in the box Grin

Please point out where she's smirking. Sounds like nonsense you cannot see her entire. Do you have magical powers or something?
