Is it too much to ask? Maternity jeans that don't fall down

I am just entering the maternity jeans section of pregnancy. It's my fifth time being pregnant and yet I'm still to find a pair of jeans that don't fall down. Is it just me?

They always seem to fit fine at first, then I walk around and after an hour the crotch has slowly descended to gather just above my knees. Sick of constantly yanking them up like a pair of worn baggy tights, but also really sick of leggings!

Is it because I'm quite apple shaped? Is it because the material is always the stretchy type? Am I buying a size too big even though it's my normal not-pregnant size? Are there any brands that actually stay up?? I've tried H&M, Topshop, ASOS, and New Look over my years being pregnant. Do I need to buy more expensive maternity jeans, or will they just end up the same way too?

Very small problem to have, I know, but it's irritating me that I might be missing a trick somewhere after all these years.

Have this problem too... Was debating getting braces

MooseBreath · 21/02/2020 18:57

I have an over-the-bump pair from Next that is great (for one wash only, then they're too stretched out). Otherwise, I haven't been able to find anything remotely useful either.

Argh this is so annoying! I have two over the bump pairs from Topshop which are brilliant (Leigh I think?) and one pair which is utterly next to useless (Joni).

Another vote for over the bump jeans from next. I had a pair that served me well in my last pregnancy and I plan to dig out again soon.

Absa · 21/02/2020 19:07

Have 3 pairs and they all fall down :(

sar302 · 21/02/2020 19:09

Never found them! Ended up wearing bump bands over my regular jeans, with the button tied with an elastic hair tye to give stretch.
I was a glamorous pregnant woman

FrederickSinclair · 21/02/2020 19:11

Have you tried wearing over the bump maternity underwear underneath? I've no idea why it makes a difference but they stopped all my maternity jeans falling down Confused

LloydColeandtheCoconuts · 21/02/2020 19:13

I remember this. I used to have to pin them Hmm

IckyIsAFuckingStupidWord · 21/02/2020 19:14

Snap. Bought 2 over-bump pairs from Jojo’s recently in my normal size and length and in boot cut style. They’re massive on me and about 5” too long so I have to fold them over. I’m also always pulling them up as they slide.

Maybe I should have bought skinnies (and looked stupid as I’m not the right shape) or dungarees (which are a PITA when it’s this time o’year!).

Good luck to everyone else looking for the right mat jeans!

MKCH · 21/02/2020 19:16

I got skinny ones from H&M and then just tucked them into the bottom of my bra 😂

Belliniteeny · 21/02/2020 19:16

New look Emilee maternity jeggings are best I tried...and I tried a lot ☹️

MKCH · 21/02/2020 19:17

Also for leggings - Love Leggings are superb. Thick and soft and not at all see through and great pregnancy shape. Highly recommend.

Moongirl10 · 21/02/2020 19:17

I’ve got two pairs from Boohoo and they’re great!

ShirleyPhallus · 21/02/2020 19:17

I found the H&M ones are the best but it’s a bugger you’ve already tried them

Maybe switch to super thick stretchy maternity leggings instead?

mumpymo · 21/02/2020 19:21

I've tried new look, H&M and Dorothy Perkins all rotten. Dorothy Perkins actually burst at the seem I was pulling them up so much. My best ever pair (with DD 4 years ago) were from mothercare and they were amazing! But they went into administration before fell pregnant this time. I have ASOS maternity leggings and they are great. I'm actually wearing Asda maternity jeans and they have been great so far! Only £14 and they seem to stay up Smile

ELM8 · 21/02/2020 19:40

Jojo skinny jeans but a size down worked for me!

georgialondon · 21/02/2020 19:49

Gap maternity jeans are amazing.

CalamityJune · 21/02/2020 20:15

I was given a pair by my sister and i found them so uncomfortable for this reason. I found them far too low at the back meaning they weren't 'holding on' to my hips when I moved.

I've since bought two pairs of primark high waisted stretchy skinny jeans two sizes bigger than I would normally wear and I find them great. Come up over my bump and stay there. Only downside is that you get the zip line over your bump too rather than the nice smooth beach ball shape, but i'd rather that than a saggy arse.

kshaw · 21/02/2020 20:16

I wore braces under my tops my whole pregnancy. Was amazing

WineAndTiramisu · 21/02/2020 20:28

H&M skinny jeans, but a size smaller!

BlueSpotty · 21/02/2020 20:36

I got high waist skinny jeans in my usual size or a size bigger if the fabric wasn't very stretchy, and just wore them unzipped around the bump if that makes sense.

Goodebe · 21/02/2020 20:36

Esmara jeans - Lidl... absolutely amazing. I lived in mine and they are the only item of maternity clothing I’m sad to not be able to wear any longer as they looked and felt so good!

Flev · 21/02/2020 20:49

I had over the bump ones from Asda. They came do far over my bump I was able to tuck the top of them under my bra, which held them up beautifully. I am rather short though...

floatygoat · 21/02/2020 20:54

My Next maternity jeans were useless as were the rest of them. So annoying! Maternity leggings are the only solution.

Sceptre86 · 21/02/2020 20:59

I second asda but I bought them in the same size I would normally. They are quite generous with the sizing so I would get your usual size and maybe a size smaller to see what fits best.
