Tyson Fury's sons' names

lynsey91 · 21/02/2020 17:47

I have vaguely heard of Tyson Fury but today I read an article about him in The Mail (I know!). He has 5 children and 3 are boys all named Prince!

I mean how can they all have the same name? I assume they have nicknames at home but even so what is the point of naming them all the same. It's just totally weird and really seems rather stupid

Tyson Fury is a product of his up bringing and culture. He is however very open about his mental health difficulties and what he is doing to address his mental health and disordered thinking. Is he a great guy, no but he would be the first to tell you that and all about his mistakes and pitfalls. He is not ashamed of himself or his culture, and because of that he is taking responsibility for himself. All shame needs to grow, and be toxic is silence and judgement.
This thread is feeding that, shaming someone for what they named their child?!?. And they deserve it because of things they said and did while mentally unwell.
This is what leads to deaths like Caroline Flacks and the men and women at your work, in your street at the school gate who you judge and gossip about without consideration.

Fluffycloudland77 · 21/02/2020 19:47

🙄 my dh tells the women he works with he’s in charge in this house.

I also tell him he’s in charge in this house 😉

Just makes life easier.

The cat was always in charge anyway. We were just his bitches.

TattiePants · 21/02/2020 19:47

I’d rather save my ‘kindness’ for the people on the receiving end of racism, homophobia and misogyny than the person spouting such crap (even if he doesn’t mean it Hmm).

crustycrab · 21/02/2020 19:49

TSS you think he's a repellant little thug because of how he was shown in the media....and yes, some of the words from his own mouth.

That's not the reality though. And it has absolutely everything to do with #bekind as you put it when you are calling someone you don't know such horrible names.

TSSDNCOP · 21/02/2020 19:51

I suppose being kind himself, he mentioned his shame at the reprehensible things he has said in the past during his lovely documentary? Asked those groups for their understanding and forgiveness? Gave his fee to a charity in contrition?

No?

I couldn’t care less what he calls his kids.

I'm glad to hear it.

crustycrab · 21/02/2020 19:52

@TattiePants do you only have a limited amount of kindness to give then? Confused So much so that you have to "save it up"!

Some nasty posters on this thread.

crustycrab · 21/02/2020 19:53

Who knows? His "lovely" documentary hasn't finished yet 🤷🏽‍♀️😂

Beansandcoffee · 21/02/2020 19:55

I have been watching the tv series about him. I’ve warmed to him. They are both very sharp and bright. I liked his comment last night when his wife was saying she wanted to have the gypsy lifestyle but never wanted to live in a caravan again and he said her lifestyle was more footballers wives than gypsy. I think the kids will be allowed to follow their dreams as he called it. I do worry about his mental health though once he isn’t so famous.

crustycrab · 21/02/2020 19:55

And actually yes, he gave away his 8 million fee to a homeless charity and supports the food bank in Morecambe, as do many of the other travellers in the area.

TSSDNCOP · 21/02/2020 19:55

I’ll take nasty in this particular context over silly sycophant.

crustycrab · 21/02/2020 19:56

What??

TattiePants · 21/02/2020 20:02

@crustycrab I had to google who he was so I’m certainly not being ‘nasty’ about him! However, a quick google shows his views about certain demographics and they are the complete opposite of mine. If you are in the public eye and say repugnant things, you should expect to be called out on it.

crustycrab · 21/02/2020 20:06

Agreed Tattie you should. And rightly he was. But it's also well documented what came for Tyson after that and also what was going on with him at the time.

Does what he said define him years down the line? No, it doesn't and shouldn't

crustycrab · 21/02/2020 20:08

And I was commenting on the way you feel you have to "save kindness". Reserve it. That's bizarre to me

DeadBod · 21/02/2020 20:14

I enjoyed this program and found his Gypsy values v his wealth and lifestyle interesting. His poor wife has a lot to put up with.
Barry Hearn (boxing promoter) says that Fury didn't donate the £8m purse to charity so I don't know how true that is.

Londonborncatty · 21/02/2020 20:14

I knew very little about him but have watched the 2 episodes of their documentary. Yes, the kids names are unusually but they seem like very good parents and Paris is very supportive and obviously thinks the world of him as he does her. When they were talking about the children leaving school at 11, I thought they were referring to all the children. Tyson wants them to stay in education and fulfil their dreams. Paris prefers a more traditional upbringing.

Bagofoldbones · 21/02/2020 20:17

Bagofoldbones

He is actually a really nice and normal guy. Dh and I had a drink with him in Cheshire, dh knows him from through friends. The stuff he does on tv is just his tv persona. He gives shit loads to charity. No one is perfect. He is a boxing legend and is setting new limits for the traveler community.

dubiousdecision · 21/02/2020 20:18

I've heard that it's quite common in gypsy culture for boys all to have the same official first name as it makes it difficult for anyone outside the culture to identity individuals. So they often 'forget' or mix up Birthdays as well in order to access help or share ID and to avoid any trouble with the law !

We've certainly had children turn up for siblings or cousins medical appointments but the parents swear blind it's the correct child - we can tell from previous notes it's not ! It's rare for children to shrink by several inches during their early years Wink

managedmis · 21/02/2020 20:19

Prince John got off the best I think.

^^

HoratioNightboy · 21/02/2020 20:26

Odd spellings are how names come about: Yonni has become Yanni, Johan, Johannes, John, Jon, Jan, Ian, Euan, Ieuan, Evan, Sean, Shaun, Sion .....etc.

These are different language versions, not "odd" spellings. Hmm

UndertheCedartree · 21/02/2020 20:35

@steff13 - the children can be deregistered from school by the parents. Beyond that the parents have responsibility to educate the children in whatever manner they wish.

TheRealHousewife · 21/02/2020 20:36

Tyson considers himself a ‘King’ and feels it only fitting to name his sons ‘Prince’. The all have other names too.

After having watched the documentary that’s been on recently about Tyson and his family I have huge respect for the man and his family.

EmeraldShamrock · 21/02/2020 20:40

It is only their first name. The DMail is acting the arse, wouldn't be the first time.
Their three boys share the same first name - Prince Tyson Fury II, Prince Adonis Amaziah and Prince John James
He is a typical traveller man with traditional, everyone makes mistake OTOH I think he is a good role model, open honest about his issues, definitely not easy in his world if other men know he has been there hear his honesty on his MH issue's, it will help others. He was as cool as a cucumber fighting Klitschko.

ginghambox · 21/02/2020 20:44

He could call them Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes who cares it's his and his wifes choice.
