Anything you can think off?

I will start
Going topless - men it's totally fine but women get heckled and slagged off for it

OP posts:
slipperywhensparticus · 21/02/2020 18:43

My armpits are hairy as are my legs right now but I am single I wonder if that is why 🤔

Boredbumhead · 21/02/2020 18:44

Go to the pub on your own
Fine for a man but if a woman does it, she gets looked at as some kind of lady of the night.

SellFridges · 21/02/2020 18:45

Be fanatical.

Perfectly fine for a man to go and watch football every week, home and away (spending thousands a season), plus probably play as well.

But if a woman were to do that it would be seen as strange. Unless she was with a man. Then it’s ok.

This simply isn’t true. Never had that in over 40 years of going to pubs.

Theroigne · 21/02/2020 18:47

Peeing in public. Hmm

Theroigne · 21/02/2020 18:48

^^men, that is.

Onetwothreeeee · 21/02/2020 18:51

On here, a man being a SAHD. Always gets ‘cocklodger’ comments

L1appelDuVide · 21/02/2020 18:52

Walking outside alone after sunset. Women ‘shouldn’t’ do it for safety reasons but for men it’s fine.

Perhaps I'm paranoid then. But I never feel 'safe' going to a pub on my own (so I never bother).

saraclara · 21/02/2020 18:54

The topless thing is different though, and it's naive to suggest otherwise. Breasts in women are a secondary sexual characteristic. In men, they're not.

A man's chest is not a physiologically sexual stimulant to the opposite sex, a woman's breasts are.

pooopypants · 21/02/2020 18:55

Eyeliner

Holding hands with friends of the same sex

1forsorrow · 21/02/2020 18:57

TheMemoryLingers and dementedma I've thought of buying a NoNo or whatever they're called. It's the peachy fuzz that gets me.

x2boys · 21/02/2020 18:58

Must be 9-5 jobs than NAF it was never something my dad who worked shifts did he either had to be home after work to cook tea for us before my mum got home from work ,or if he was on a late didn't finish until 11and came straight home, dh. Works similar
d shifts and has never done it either I don't think he knows where our local pub is 😂not saying he has never had a beer after work but he wouldn't dream of going to the pub .

TheMemoryLingers · 21/02/2020 18:59

I've been drinking pints of beer since the early 1990s and no one has ever remarked on it. However, if the drink is being served as one of several, it often starts to move in the direction of a man until I wave my hand for it.

Cam77 · 21/02/2020 19:06

@SellFridges
I know a women who hasn’t missed their teams game for decades. No one thinks it strange in the slightest. Yes it is statistically more unusual for women to be fanatical but I’m not sure there is any associated social judgement at all.

SmileEachDay · 21/02/2020 19:08

What now?

Do you mean men can’t help their reaction to women’s breasts?

You've been lucky; before 1982, pubs could legally refuse to serve women and it wasn't unusual for them to bar lone women.

saraclara · 21/02/2020 19:15

Do you mean men can’t help their reaction to women’s breasts?

They can help what they do with their bodies' reactions to women's breasts, but biologically, yes, men are primed to have sexual feelings inn response to seeing naked breasts. Women are not physiologically primed to respond the same way.

This is not an excuse for male behaviour, which as I've made clear, is well within their control.
I'm simply talking about the science of sexual response.

NotALurker2 · 21/02/2020 19:16

Manspreading.

SmileEachDay · 21/02/2020 19:17

Really? I’d be fascinated to read this. I’m honestly not being all “citation” - where can I read this?

mumwon · 21/02/2020 19:17

books & films
females liking sci fi & war films (Band of Brothers still my favourite& I am a nerd about sci fi & astronomy)
women being engineers & liking science
leading & being assertive & being proud of intelligence & accomplishments (having to be tactful instead - it still happens!)
& being angry (hormonal obviously or suffering (!) from mental health)
(not at home - outside)

ownround · 21/02/2020 19:19

wear a dress.

Grasspigeons · 21/02/2020 19:27

saraclara are you sure? I didnt get the memo that i wasnt primed to have sexual feelings when presented with half naked men (the good looking ones obvs!) I mean the top half is one of the best bits. The tackle itself looks a bit silly.

AufderAutobahn · 21/02/2020 19:29

Being assertive. Men = clear, focused, getting the job done. Women = rude, getting ideas above their station, unhinged even.

managedmis · 21/02/2020 19:35

Single mothers = bad, probably cheating the tax payers.

^^

Exactly! But it's only 50% their fault. What about the dads?!
