Cleaned the house, got the kids ready to go out. And guess what? It’s starts raining 🤬. It was raining yesterday aswell, but once it stopped we went out for a walk and library, really needed to go out for some fresh air buts it’s literally pouring down. And I got shopping coming at 4pm.

How’s everyone doing so far?

OP posts:
Nowayorhighway · 20/02/2020 13:53

It’s rained pretty solidly every day here and it’s also cold and windy. Most of the plans I made were outdoors ones so we’ve barely done anything. The DC haven’t really minded tbh, they prefer just sitting around playing on games anyway.

We went to a local art gallery on Tuesday, we’ve also baked and done crafts. They’re going to the cinema and pantomime with my Mum tomorrow and Saturday so nice break for DH and I Grin.

Kapsauss · 20/02/2020 14:00

Pretty good until this morning. Had last minute work things to sort this morning and spent most of the time behind computer as I work from Home mostly. Kids have been non stop "Mom. I need a drink. Mom. I'm hungry. Mommy, I want a bath." Just random crap and really just annoys me when I have work stuff and I can't focus. Got work stuff done, then thought we'll go out - but same as OP, its absolutely lashing outside and strong wind too etc. Fingers crossed for tomorrow as I have to get the kids and myself out of the house. Drives me nuts! I love being at home, but only when it's a "choice" and not being forced being in. Blush

Indecisivelurcher · 20/02/2020 14:03

5yo and 2.5yo here. We're flooded into our town (/Island?) and little one has a bug. So have randomly started to upcycle the dining table... as you do when cabin fever sets in...

funinthesun19 · 20/02/2020 15:31

Going quite good really.
3 of my kids are on intensive swimming lessons this week and it’s working wonders for them.
I went to a historical building yesterday with my eldest who is doing a project at school about Tudor times, so that was fun and interesting for both of us.

House is a tip. But I’m not stressing about it.

Taking the kids to do some pottery painting tomorrow which I’m looking forward to.

lazylinguist · 20/02/2020 15:38

Lovely, thanks! It's rained almost solidly, but we're in Cumbria, so we're pretty much amphibious anyway. Grin Plus we have a big dog so we have to go out in all weathers. We've had house guests for the last 3 days, so lots of good food, Wine and board games in between blustery walks!

Bitofnamechanging · 20/02/2020 15:41

Enjoying it so far - I'm also off work so we have baked, had baths, watched too much telly, been out and about- library, park, soft play. I love holiday time. Ds1 has some attachment issues and we have zero emotional issues when he's home with me for the week

RoseMartha · 20/02/2020 15:57

Weather has been dismal. Have membership for a couple of kids attractions so braved both of them in the rain on different days. Met up with extended family. Done short scooter rides in the rain.

Spied · 20/02/2020 16:08

Grandparents asked them to stay Monday and Tuesday so that was two days out of the way!! Spent most of the time on their i-pads by all accounts and didn't want to venture out.
Yesterday was cinema and lunch out in town.
Today has been tough. Bad weather but short walk/ride around be local park and ice creams.
Tomorrow we are going to nearest big town shopping center for a few supplies. DD school shoes, DS a new coat and boots. Will fill in most of the day.
Saturday is visiting relatives then probably movie late afternoon.
Sunday is swimming then a late lunch out.
DC are pre-teen but terrible at entertaining themselves.

Troels · 20/02/2020 16:33

Dd went off skiing with the school and broke her arm on day two, she'll be home Saturday. Spoke to her when it had just been plastered, and radio silence since. She has read my texts, but not replying. Bloody teens!
Oh and the rain, it's relentless. Still had a yellow warning last night with flooding, I love living on top of a hill unless it's icy
Not the best holiday Yikes.

Rowgtfc72 · 20/02/2020 16:33

Spent mon shopping with dd and tues we did paint a pot and a movie day. Nothing remarkable you may say? Dd is 13 in three weeks and grunts more than talks and it's not cool to spend time with your mum.
Had a lovely two days. Shes out with her friends while we're at work. They grow up so fast!

TwoZeroTwoZero · 20/02/2020 16:33

I'm a bit bored! My dc are playing out and I'm stuck in with nothing much to do. We have no money so I can't really go anywhere - even to the free places because I can't afford the petrol to get there or a picnic to have once out.

ChazP · 20/02/2020 18:43

Have had to work through this half-term so 2 miserable kids in holiday club and I’m sick of making packed lunches!

FVFrog · 20/02/2020 18:54

Busy! Weather as everywhere else abysmal. DD21 moving back home after living in a flat for a year with bf as both are going to uni as (slightly) mature students in September and they are sensibly both moving home to save money. It is however quite a feat trying to get everything back in her bedroom and she is used to being independent so we’ll see how it goes... DS18 is revising for A levels and prepping for tap dance exam although we managed a half term trip to London yesterday evening for a bit of shopping, dinner and to see a show. Off with DD back to London for a day of culture tomorrow seeing a friends photography exhibition and then to the V&A and out for dinner. Definitely enjoying time with my grown up DCs when I can get it!

YourDaughter · 20/02/2020 18:58

Not on it yet 😫. Ours is next week - counting down the hours!

Trahira · 20/02/2020 19:02

Busy! Juggling work and childcare. But tomorrow I have the day off to spend with the kids so it's looking up!

ThePants999 · 20/02/2020 19:04

Potty trained my toddler. Fistpump.

EssentialHummus · 20/02/2020 19:07

This weather can fuck off. Actually the main difficulty for me is that lots of friends with older DC aren’t around, so I’m left to fend for myself with an incredibly talkative toddler.

Normandy144 · 20/02/2020 19:09

Me and DH are working this half term. We rarely take feb half term off as the weather isn't great and so far I've been proved right. Kids have been entertained at a variety of different things kids club/childminder /play dates and seem fine. I'm looking forward to Easter when we have a week off and are going away to a cottage and hopefully some nice spring weather.

spanieleyes · 20/02/2020 19:10

Marked 30 reading assessments, 30 arithmetic assessments, 30 grammar tests, 30 spelling tests and moderated 30 writing books, Added all data to tracking system, updated additional trackers for children who have EAL and SEN or are classed as disadvantaged, updated medium term planning, completed first week of short term planning, wrote 3 knowledge organisers for this term and cleaned my bathroom.
Pretty good going!

meemaw12 · 20/02/2020 19:12

It's going great because I'm at work and dh is off looking after the kids Grin

Bluewavescrashing · 20/02/2020 19:16

Bit mixed here.

The bad: we've all had a nasty virus for the last 10 days so haven't been out much. Shite weather. Very little money to spend. All getting on each other's nerves today as have been cooped up.

The good: being at home a lot has encouraged us to use up craft materials and get creative. I've organised both world book day costumes so am feeling virtuous. We've made good use of the library. I've sorted through the kids' wardrobes and found new stuff in bigger sizes so they won't need any new clothes for ages, all organised. We've had some great family time baking, crafting, watching films. They both went for a sleepover one evening and the peace and quiet was fab.

All in all not too bad.

Bluewavescrashing · 20/02/2020 19:18

Also I found some Clubcard vouchers so we are going out for a nice family lunch at the weekend which I'm looking forward to.

Really123456 · 20/02/2020 19:20

Shit

lollybee1 · 20/02/2020 19:21

Fantastic. Get to work in half the time😁

tinytemper66 · 20/02/2020 19:22

Been on a mini break to Southern Spain so very chilled. Back tomorrow to washing ironing and lots of marking!
