Children's tooth.

What do you do with your child's teeth when they fall out?

My daughter lost her first tooth yesterday and her tooth is in my jewellery box.

DH thinks I'm very strange for keeping it but I just can't seem to bring myself to throw it away.

Nearly everyone I know has their children’s teeth tucked away somewhere. My DC are all adults and I still have a pot of baby teeth, goodness knows why!

pancakesunday · 18/02/2020 20:33

I've kept my Son's baby teeth. Couldn't bring myself to throw them away :)

TulipCat · 18/02/2020 20:35

I do the tooth fairy thing then chuck them out. Or forget and find them in my dressing gown pocket weeks later!

SillyBub · 18/02/2020 20:36

Once they've been retrieved from under the pillow, they're straight in the bin. Now the DC are older, they show me the tooth, ask nicely for their pound and chuck it in the bin themselves Grin

PumpkinPie2016 · 18/02/2020 20:37

I'm keeping them in a box that is part of a larger memory box.

BikeRunSki · 18/02/2020 20:40

I’ve got them all, but they are all mixed up and I couldn’t tell you which tooth belongs to which child

Bawbags · 18/02/2020 20:40

I have my 3 DCs teeth in my old purse in my underwear drawer. It's gross and weird but I can't bring myself to just bin them.

99problemsandthecatis1 · 18/02/2020 20:42

DH wants to keep them but I think they belong in the bin.

BecauseReasons · 18/02/2020 20:43

My DM kept the dog's milk teeth. Now that's weird!

NomNomNomNom · 18/02/2020 20:43

DH is in charge of the tooth fairy. I have no idea what he's done with all the teeth which have been "collected by the tooth fairy" but I imagine they're in the bin.

DappledThings · 18/02/2020 20:48

I had no idea people did this till my mum showed me a box of my old teeth. I found it very strange and definitely didn't want them.

Mine are too small to have lost any yet but I'll be chucking them away.

SIL has both her DC's shrivelled up cord stumps

FrostyBamboo · 18/02/2020 21:14

My parents posted my teeth to me as an adult, thinking I might want them.

I didn't.

What I WOULD have wanted is a warning that I was getting a jiffy bag of about 20 baby teeth and six adult teeth in the post with no note of explanation.

blamethecat · 18/02/2020 21:17

That made me chuckle FrostyBamboo, probably a good job the package didn't open in the sorting office.
DS has only lost 3 so far 2 are in paper in my jewelry box , the other fell down the loo. Not sure if I'll hold on to the rest.

MissClareRemembers · 18/02/2020 21:21

I keep them all but they seem to be scattered about the house in various places. Like some sort of gruesome grotto.

Found one under DS2’s bed last week. Gawd knows how long that had been festering under there.

Justcallmebebes · 18/02/2020 21:26

My DD is nearly 30 and I still have her milk teeth in a little silver pot along with our old cat's milk teeth. Lord knows why. Properly freaked her out when she opened pot a few years ago

Bringbackthebill · 18/02/2020 21:26

For some strange reason I have kept them all and now I can’t bring myself to do it so my advice is don’t even start with 1

HAhelp101 · 18/02/2020 21:29

İ had the intention of keeping them.... But chucked them in the bin. After ds1 actually lost one i felt it was a bit creepy to keep them and imagined 60 years from now when the kids were clearing my house and they find a jar of teeth...then my mind wandered to weird films and I shuddered and chucked it out. İ have 4 kids....that's a lot of teeth!

TrueFriendsStabYouInTheFront · 18/02/2020 21:30

I've been slowly stitching them one by one into the open mouth of stuffed bear, which I will present to my child on her 18th birthday

HAhelp101 · 18/02/2020 21:34

Truefriend i just nearly choked on my tea!

WinterCat · 18/02/2020 21:35

So far DD has just swallowed them.

TrueFriendsStabYouInTheFront · 18/02/2020 21:35

... I never thought I'd say this, but that's parenting goals right there.

Now I'm totally regretting throwing them out!

EugenesAxe · 19/02/2020 00:31

I keep them but I found out recently that they’re much sought after by scientific research centres, as they are a good (non-intrusive) source of stem cells.

So if you normally bin them, collect them in a little bag and take them to your local doctors’ some time, for them to pass on.

Pipandmum · 19/02/2020 00:37

Nope I put them in the bin.
