You get all invested and OMG .and then boom it’s gone.

Yeah yeah other people’s lives etc, but it’s interesting even if it’s a load of old bollocks

jillandhersprite · 18/02/2020 11:18

The thing with relationship ones is that there is often very sound advice, links and phone numbers - I wish that would just delete the original post rather than kill the thread...

spongedog · 18/02/2020 11:24

@jillandhersprite that would be better. I am also tired of giving advice and then finding the whole thread poooof!

SidneyPrescott · 18/02/2020 11:24

Which thread?

GinDaddy · 18/02/2020 11:25

Genuine q: why do they get deleted?

WikkiTikkiWoo · 18/02/2020 11:39

Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'd invested so much in a thread last week.. and them poof. It's gone. I understand why.. but I NEED TO KNOW ;)

ilovesooty · 18/02/2020 11:57

Most of the threads there are probably bollocks. And when they aren't there are too many people who can't move past their own experiences and are utterly incapable of being impartial.

MashedSpud · 18/02/2020 11:59

Some are made up. I don’t get invested in any threads anymore.

Disfordarkchocolate · 18/02/2020 12:01

I agree with the PP, some deleted threads have fantastic advice that it's sad to see deleted.

AnnDaloozier · 18/02/2020 14:02

Loads are. I do like a ‘is her cheating ?’ one though - specially if they are made up

OP posts:
AnnDaloozier · 18/02/2020 14:04

Love the initial start. Then the drip feed of suspicious behaviour . Then the frantic tech chapter. Then the chapter where she tries to hold it together. This is punctuated by more outrageous deeds by the panto baddie H who DOESNT KNOW SHE KNOWS. the giveaway that theyre made up is at this point- way too long not blurting something out.

dustibooks · 18/02/2020 14:09

I was reading one yesterday, wanted to post on it, got sidetracked and never went back to it. I've been looking for it for the last half an hour. Gone.

AnnDaloozier · 18/02/2020 16:09

Yy. Two for me

OP posts:
NameChangeNugget · 18/02/2020 16:18

I think at least 70% of threads are made up.

YABU for getting invested

Rainbowshine · 18/02/2020 16:20

Sometimes it’s because the OP has had the thread taken out of their hands by some newspaper trying to get content through lazy means and is terrified of being identified.

BrokenHeartedAndBruised · 18/02/2020 16:31

Sometimes it is because the thread was started by a PBU.

KatherineJaneway · 18/02/2020 16:38

Which thread?

BrokenHeartedAndBruised · 18/02/2020 16:47

There was one by a user who put in a lot of personal details. Her username was a FirstnameLastnameNumber, it had ages and names of children. Apparently a PBU.

AnnDaloozier · 18/02/2020 17:04

Oh but they’re fun.

OP posts:
BrokenHeartedAndBruised · 18/02/2020 17:10

I had one I'd opened deleted. I was in a bad way, and my OP late on a Saturday evening mentioned drink and gave me a torrent of unpleasant, unhelpful posts.

It may have been fun for some but I was a sad, lonely, terrified person who needed some sort of shoulder to cry on.

Some of the posts were kind, but some were hideous.

Redyellowpink · 18/02/2020 17:12

70 percent of threads are made up?! I must be v naive, I honestly didn't think it was that high

LangittleClegabbage · 18/02/2020 17:16

What is a PBU?

Rainbowshine · 18/02/2020 17:21

Previously banned user

MouthBreathingRage · 18/02/2020 17:29

People really need to stop over investing on the internet. The Relationships forum is probably worse than AIBU for drawing in liars, beggars and storytellers. Heck, one on there is such a blatant begging thread, yet its going on and on and on.

Use more common sense, then there's less sense of loss over these things.

sideorderofchips · 18/02/2020 17:30

I had to get mine deleted because the woman in question who was causing the issues in my marriage stalked me to mumsnet and then gave me hell over irl

Nighttimefreedom · 18/02/2020 17:34

Mine was deleted because my (now) STBXH got on the thread pretending to be a poster offering advice.
It was very stressful for me once I realised he knew everything I'd been saying. All the advice gone and no concern from mumsnet that I could potentially be in a very unsafe situation.
