In the middle of the media storm about poor Caroline Flack and Megan Markle. I can't help thinking they didn't have anywhere near the hounding and pounding down that Katie Price has had consistently and for years... Obviously don't know her from Adam but as 1 human seeing another being relentlessly bullied wonder if there shouldn't be some sort of legal injunction to stop the tabloid attacks on her?

Easier to stop buying or reading trash that attacks people.

I don't buy anything that follows celebrity gossip, nor do I follow it in any way, shape or form. Yay for me. But then, I'm also less invested in celebrities as a result. I didn't actually know who Caroline Flack was. It's somewhat ironic that the industry that hounds celebrities to the point at which they break is fuelled and financed by the people who follow all the celebrity gossip. Many of whom then post their sympathy and concern for the celebrities on social media and other forums when things go bad.

Most "lucky" people work incredibly hard and appointing the right advisors is a talent in itself.

I remember seeing that her mum was ill so she may well be very fragile right now.

I had to look CF up too Because, I'd actually got her muddled with someone else completely. I'm afraid I did make a judgement based on Love Island but I don't really know what that is either.

These celebs need to ditch the drugs.

I hope the press will learn lessons from recent events.

sadly this is the way of celebrity now, someone appears on a reality show and becomes a "star" they have to appear all over the place as that is what they do.

I know she's not exactly a bastion of feminism but as a feminist myself, I can't stand people just piling onto other women...especially if she's not a bad person.

Everyone thought "poor" Peaches Geldof until her inquest was held. Then came the murky story of a heroin addict parent who'd used with a child in her care and presumably not for the first time.

No one knows what happened with CF, and this blame of the media/CPS/ex boyfriends is all nothing but speculation.

Their talent is attracting attention and making a good living in that way. You might not like it but there's plenty who aspire to it who don't achieve it.

If someone behaves badly...but has talent as you see it, does that mean the press and public should refrain from bullying them but a celebrity without the accepted talent should just take it and be grateful they're famous?

Katie Price courts the media, this is her life and has been her entire adulthood. She would probably fall apart if the media no longer gave her attention.

With CF, the press reported on information within the public domain. The CPS followed their guidelines and pursued an alleged perpetrator of assault, regardless of who that perpetrator was.

Why would the press choose not to report on it?

Why would the CPS choose not to pursue the charge?

She could have chosen not to allegedly assault her boyfriend.

She was clearly very fragile and in need of help but it is not the job of the press or the cps to do that.

Same with KP. She puts herself out there and will be reported on whether it’s good or bad. It’s those around her who should be helping, getting her out of the limelight and taking care of her.

Norway I think the point of this thread is that she already IS falling apart and the OP wanted to point out that people are consistently scathing about her and there's no need.

I think the desire to protect people who look vulnerable is laudable but tbh I'm very uncomfortable at the way certain sectors are trying to turn someone's death into a crusade for their hobby horse.

All of these calls blaming the CPS or blaming the media, show a lack of understanding of MH issues. I don't think it helps anyone to pretend that superficial external changes would 'save' people ... well, except the people looking for someone to blame that isn't them.

The most reasoned and sensible response I've seen was from the Secret Barrister saying the courts and CPS need to look at the support they provide for people accused of crimes. That makes sense to me but a lot of people are ignoring it because they want to pretend there wasn't an alleged crime or there shouldn't have been a proposed prosecution.

MH is complicated then you throw in celebrity, addiction, DV, patriarchy. But people in the public eye work with journalists and the media in a way that outsiders don't see and don't understand. The urge for simple solutions is misguided. People can't even 'be kind' for a day. They're already deciding which 'celebs' 'deserve' kindness. This thread is a perfect example.

KP has newspapers stories about her everyday, yet she's not so famous anymore. Guess the press loves a car-crash. She possibly does perpetuate some of it: half of the stories generate from her own Instagram story posts, which are then given a negative spin in the press. She has the option to step away and earn money in another way if it's too much for her. But part of her must like the fame. Her life is nuts.... constant chaos.

Sadly, I don't think the press will start to go easy on people now. Whatever CF did or didn't do, there's a lot of speculative opinion pieces about her today, and which I assume they are getting paid for - how do those journalists know what she was thinking or "insecure" (as they claim) about? I even overheard someone today say CF had anger issues (how do they know?) and that her boyfriend was abusive and wouldn't let her take a break - that's kind of a devastating assumption to spread about... how do people make this up? !!

Katie Price enjoys negative press, its how she makes a living. If not she'd be dead by now by that logic.

Izz no and the reason for that is that the world is full of sad people who LOVE to read about other people's downfalls. It makes them feel better about their own lives.

We are all culpable here. Just by talking about celebrities in this way. We are showing the media that we are interested in their personal lives, which means they will continue to print stuff.

Look at today. The Caroline Flack circus is still going. Just as it did for Jade Goody. It's all about her ex's pain and continuing to trawl through her private life. It won't stop. The tone will change for a bit, but then it will be onto the next one. And here we are - 'Look. Mumsnet are talking about Katie Price. They are interested in her life. Let's print more about that as people want to know'

If we stop clicking on the mail online, stop clicking on stories about people, stop reading the trashy press and gossip magazines, this all stops.

I love the irony of a thread which was originally started to highlight how other 'celebs' might be suffering goes on to say that KP is talent less and selling herself.
KP may not be the poster girl for how you would like to live your life but I am glad that I haven't had to live hers.
I doubt very much that she is mentally stable. Her need to be loved, seen, look a specific way coupled with a severely disabled child (whose father has been able to walk away from any responsibility) and a very ill parent would tell me that she is a woman with a lot on her mind. Did CF have an ill child? an ill parent? Why is she worthy of peoples pity but someone else is to be looked down upon and have a character assassination? what did CF do that showed talent? did she lobby against cyber bullying? raise awareness of disabilities?
I doubt anyone on here has any real knowledge of these women's lives, but how unfair is it to say that one woman had worth and anthers doesn't??
