It’s lovely!

.... for a dog

Wasail · 16/02/2020 19:46

I quite like it

WarrenNicole · 16/02/2020 19:47

@ShirleyPhallus, I was just typing that I know a dog called Digby, and then I seen your comment!

Curiosity101 · 16/02/2020 19:47

It feels very very posh to me, definitely feels like something that could (would?) lead to teasing.

As a PP said - seems more appropriate for a dog.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 16/02/2020 19:49

How about Dougie.

ivfbabymomma1 · 16/02/2020 19:51

Ha ha thank you!!! I did expect these comments!! Dougie is nice!!! Definitely something to consider! Thank you! We certainly aren't posh so I'm not intentionally looking for a posh name if that make sense I just thought it sounded cute but maybe I save it for my next dog? 😂

Love Digby as a (human) name.

Dougie is short for Douglas.

Curiosity101 · 16/02/2020 19:57

For the record I actually think it's a lovely name for a baby - but I'm a 29 year old female. Not a kid at school who's looking to single people out or make fun of someone because they don't conform to the 'norm'.

My husband and I spent a decent amount of time thinking up names that were difficult to make fun of, didn't have daft initials etc etc. As we put it "Kids are Jerks" Grin

Tunnocks34 · 16/02/2020 20:01

Reminds me of the oasis song, Digbys dinner. I like it!

Veterinari · 16/02/2020 20:08

I love it

I prefer Dougie!

Sparklesocks · 16/02/2020 20:22

I think of sir digby chicken Caesar from Mitchell and Webb - Sorry OP!

LilouBlue · 16/02/2020 20:24

I considered it for my son but in the end I just couldn't get past the dog connection. I still LOVE it though!

Notajogger · 16/02/2020 20:25

Yep sounds like a dog or a tractor.

lowlandLucky · 16/02/2020 20:32

Digby Brown the solicitors spring to mind

Charis1503 · 16/02/2020 20:40

Digby dragon!! Cool for a pet, dont like for a child.

I think its a very 'immature' name and can only picture a baby or toddler. I think id laugh if i met a teenager called Digby. I cant imagine he will thank you when he gets older.

I would also pair it with 'posh' people. probably with other kids called Quentin, horatio and titus!

Freddie is cute and normal. As a sibling name... how about....

Oscar
Milo
Leo
Harrison (sonny for short if you prefer)

ivfbabymomma1 · 16/02/2020 20:42

Ha ha all points taken!!!! I adore leo but a very close friend has a boy called leo and I worry about copying!! Milo is also really nice!!! Thank you for opinions/suggestions!!!

There's a girl in my daughters's class called Darcy. I really like that and it would suit a boy too.

DotBall · 16/02/2020 20:50

I know of a Digby, but he’s in his 70s.

Butteredtoast55 · 16/02/2020 20:52

Darcy is quite frequently used for girls now....I’ve taught one boy called Darcy. I wouldn’t recommend it. Digby is a surname to me, or a pet and it reminds me of the old Disney film Digby The Biggest Dog In The World.

LynetteScavo · 16/02/2020 20:53

Digby is a fab name.

I went to school with a Digby. He was hot, and his parents were wealthy, so I was told.

I think most Digbys are older, so it's due a revival.

BigusBumus · 16/02/2020 20:55

Digby is only ok if you mix in the kind of circles of people who wouldn't bat an eyelid. The fact you're asking probably means you don't?

Freddie is not and unusual name and doesn't really go with Digby. How about Tate?

ChickenNugget86 · 16/02/2020 22:13

You could always use it as a middle name if unsure

Qwerty543 · 16/02/2020 22:22

Digby is awful. It sounds harsh. Darcy for a boy is stupid. Beautiful girls name though.
