I’m still smiling this morning at the thought of the children's delight at this cake, and the surprise when they see it’s rainbow-coloured inside. Trouble is, OP, you’ve done this for one friend, what are the others going to expect for their DC? You’ve set the bar pretty high for future birthday cakes!

CookieSue222 · 15/02/2020 09:51

Fabulous cake - congrats OP!
Also, I know a teenage Neveah (15), so it's not a new modern fad. I suspect it may be cultural too.

Dividingthementalload · 15/02/2020 09:52

Which culture spells things backwards?

Dividingthementalload · 15/02/2020 09:53

And the problem is right there in your spelling: neveah = haeven.

CookieSue222 · 15/02/2020 09:57

Oops, no thats me - spelling should be Nevaeh.
But that's us common people for you - can't spell, can't name our children properly!

CookieSue222 · 15/02/2020 09:57

Oh yes, did I mention it's a fabulous cake?

iusedtohavechickens · 15/02/2020 10:01

@Thinkingabout1t

I only do cakes for very close friends and family. I enjoy making cakes and wouldn't want to get bored and this friend is one in very close too!

This is one I made for one of her LO's last year - before we moved in case anyone questions why the kitchen is different! 🤪

Which culture spells things backwards?

Didn't say they did. Have a look at the baby name boards though if you want evidence of my point.

Why is it snobbery

and then

depends what you want for your child but I wanted names that wouldn’t distract from their skills and experience on a CV. I have been on high level recruitment panels in a serious profession. We wouldn’t score on it (goes without saying) but we’d certainly raise an eyebrow and wonder wtf her parents were thinking

🙄😴

The80sweregreat · 15/02/2020 10:08

It's lovely and I bet it tastes nice too!

I saw a thread about this particular name and didn't twig it's Heaven backwards till they said!

HappydaysArehere · 15/02/2020 10:11

Love it. Clever girl.

Wilmalovescake · 15/02/2020 10:14

Beautiful cakes OP, well done Grin

SavageBeauty73 · 15/02/2020 10:14

Your cake making skills are amazing!!!!!!!!!

PickwickThePlockingDodo · 15/02/2020 10:16

Have they asked you to make her brothers when it's his birthday? Is it kayden with a k or c?....

So what if it is Kayden? How has it got anything to do with you? You choose your kids names, they choose theirs. Being rude about people's names doesn't make you fit in to a higher class you know, quite the opposite in fact.

Abitofanexpert · 15/02/2020 10:23

Did you just teach yourself OP or do a course or class? I feel like I have the potential to be ok at cakes but I don't quite have the skills or experience. I've had 50/50 great ones and terrible ones and I'd like to improve my ratio!

Eeyoresstickhouse · 15/02/2020 10:25

The cake is gorgeous. Well done OP.

There are some cultures with unusual names. I know a colleague who's friend is called xx "dont touch me" xxxxx as in his African culture you are named after the first thing your mum said after labour hence why you get a lot of precious and blessings as names. His mum obviously had a rough time in labour and that is what he is called!

NotSusanna · 15/02/2020 10:34

It's a beautiful cake.

Franticbutterfly · 15/02/2020 10:34

Well done! It looks fab!

iusedtohavechickens · 15/02/2020 10:40

@Abitofanexpert I did a course on how to make figures which hubby brought me as a birthday present one year but otherwise self taught.
When I was little I loved playing with play doh, this is the adult version of that 😂

SophieSong · 15/02/2020 10:58

Aibuto · 15/02/2020 11:00

It’s lovely!

anothernamejeeves · 15/02/2020 11:06

Why is this even posted in AIBU? You made a cake why would that BU?

partysong · 15/02/2020 11:21

Literally the title of the post says she knows it's not AIBU!

Laylor · 15/02/2020 14:11

What a bunch of complete arseholes you are. Oh my god let's slag off a 1 year olds name behind a screen because it's not to my taste - soooo hard. The poor woman only asked if you like the cake! Why be so mean. The cake is great. Well done.

rainpain · 15/02/2020 14:12
