It's the same for wet cotton wool. Makes my teeth go funny.

Any others?

I hate paper straws too. I prefer to use a straw as it's better for lipstick. Grin I carry a metal one around.

Wooden forks-urgh. They stick to your lips. Sad

Yesterdayforgotten · 12/02/2020 18:15

Oh yes the wooden forks you get in a salad are awful. I feel I need to being my own emergency cutlery as well as silicone straw out with me.

Yesterdayforgotten · 12/02/2020 18:18

Its hypocritical really, a plastic box with a wooden fork, maybe they should do paper box and plastic fork Confused

RainbowAlicorn · 12/02/2020 18:18

I hate paper straws, I just drink out of the cup.

Newbie1999 · 12/02/2020 18:19

Wooden cutlery. I’d rather not eat

minniemoll · 12/02/2020 18:24

Medical conditions aside, I can't see why anyone needs to drink out of a straw - just put your lips to the side of the glass and drink!

lorettalemon · 12/02/2020 18:25

I haven't had a McDonald's milkshake since they stopped supplying plastic straws - it's impossible to drink. I need to remember to put mine in the car for next time!

Sparklingbrook · 12/02/2020 18:26

Lipstick damage limitation @minniemoll !

poppyonastring · 12/02/2020 18:27

Hate them too, but also hate drinking through a straw anyway, and very rarely do!

Also, I don't GET how people can drink through the TINY hole in the top of a takeaway coffee.

I mean WTF? Confused

Ewwww yes and wooden toothbrushes that I tried to convert to for environmental reasons...made me teeth itch, skin crawl, the lot ewwww!

Sparklingbrook · 12/02/2020 18:31

I think sipping through the little hole in a coffee cup looks like an adult sippee cup.

RitaHayworthHair · 12/02/2020 18:32

What hell are wooden toothbrushes

OP posts:
Wilmalovescake · 12/02/2020 18:32

Oh they’re AWFUL.

Gogolego · 12/02/2020 18:34

I'm all for helping the environment but I hate paper straws. Especially in cocktails and which are drunk slowly so the straws are get even soggier

Yesterdayforgotten · 12/02/2020 18:34

poppyonastring have you had the macdonalds daft coffee lids with the flap o ? They are by far the worst

Yesterdayforgotten · 12/02/2020 18:36

Sparklingbrook lip gloss glamour control Grin

Sparklingbrook · 12/02/2020 18:39

Too right @Yesterdayforgotten. It's very important. Grin

Yesterdayforgotten · 12/02/2020 18:42

It is and I have my silicone straw on order!

NotGenerationAlpha · 12/02/2020 18:46

I don’t understand why I need a straw. Both plastic and paper are wasteful. I’m perfectly capable drinking from glass, bottle or can without one.

lowlandLucky · 12/02/2020 18:48

Straws are for children

thriftyhen · 12/02/2020 18:48

I haven't used a paper straw since I was a child in the 1970's or any other sort of straw since I was a teenager! Used to love them then as you could make them go all soggy and flat at the end! Have the same nostalgic feeling about them as I do about Sherbert Fountains when they were in paper and they went all soggy too! OP Just interested to know why are you using a straw as a grown-up and for what?! Smile

NotGenerationAlpha · 12/02/2020 18:48

I can drink out of those coffee cup lids too. Nothing wrong with an adult sippee cup. I have started taking my own cup to the coffee shop so no more of those lids.

aroundtheworldyet · 12/02/2020 18:50

Straws are for children full stop.

Yesterdayforgotten · 12/02/2020 18:53

NotGenerationAlpha what about on the go though? And surely you dont mean the plastic macdonalds coffee lids with the flap on? They are horrendous to drink from.

NotGenerationAlpha · 12/02/2020 19:06

@Yesterdayforgotten I usually only buy coffee on the go during work days and I have a glass keep cup and a plastic one in the office. In the weekend I tend to sit in and drink.

With the Macdonald’s one, you can tug the flip into inside the lid so it stops flipping. It’s my pet hate Macdonald’s do not use reusable plates and cups. But my children are partial to happy meals so unfortunately I do get Macdonald’s coffees regularly.
